There is plenty of room in the apartment - it is spacious and airy (the top - fourth - floor of the tallest building around - maybe the highest balconies in Bosa marina). It faces pretty much due west towards the open Mediterranean and Spain. The balconies are extensive although not especially deep - however the corner is a great place for two to sit over a sundowner - and three or four can happily sit to take in the sinking sun where the balcony opens to the the double doors to the sitting/living room. Each bedroom has it's own balcony, and each has great views of the beach and bay - and hills above. A balcony also runs right around the property to the west-facing living room and on to the panoramic, glazed kitchen and dining room. Looking inland, Bosa old town can be seen with the tumbling medieval town rising to the hilltop castle - with its 3 towers, ramparts and beautiful frescoes.
The apartment and Bosa in general are ideal for couples, friends or families. The Bosa Marina beach is a delight - deep and broad, with soft sand and a protected shallow bay that is sheltered from the wind, for safe bathing. As with all Italian beaches, the first two weeks of August are popular - though it's long and deep enough that it never worried us or our youngsters - especially as we often avoid the hottest part of the day, and find it quieter when the sun's at it's warm and friendliest - earlier, before midday, or later on after 3 or 4pm. If one wishes, there are sun beds and parasols on one of the 'private' parts of the beach for a few euros - you can doubtless rent one of these for the duration of your stay.
There are also lots of smaller, less visited beaches and swimming, sunbathing places and spectacular coastal walks along the coast waiting to be discovered. In the apartment there are maps and guides to these, as well as an aerial maps book that includes the local coastline to assist more adventurous exploration. We sometimes visit other beaches and walks along the coast - particularly good is 'S'Abba Druche' - with it's hot, child friendly rock pools - and a spectacular setting for the outside bar and restaurant!
There are lots of activities in the area for children - from toddlers play through to table tennis, video games, sea-kayaking and kite-surfing. There is no need for long car journeys to the beach (a few minutes gentle stroll), and there's a very child-friendly environment at the beach and with play equipment at the cafes on the sand at the back of the beach, and superb ice creams in the gelateria - including a full size pirate galleon with ice creams outside on the upper deck! Slightly older children enjoy the fact that there's plenty of life, with lots of youngsters enjoying themselves at the beach and in the bars and cafes.
In Bosa Marina there are two small supermarkets and plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes and ice cream parlours within a few minutes walk of the apartment. There is nightlife with several local nightclubs - including one at the far end of Bosa Bay set outside in gardens of palm trees and ornamental ponds! There is also a little tourist 'train' that all day and evening goes back and forth between Bosa Marina and Bosa old town (about 3km) for a few euros. This will be operating in July and August. Read below for the real (small) train that leaves from the station just 100m from the apartment to climb up into the hills to the market town of Macomer.
There is ample car parking is in the small cul-de-sac and car parks below. The photos were taken a year or more ago - since then we've bought more furniture and discrete decorations, and made some other improvements. More (EMAIL HIDDEN)
We would of course send lots of information and tips and recommendations regarding local activities, beaches, activities, restaurants, wines, bars, nature, and sightseeing etc.
If you have any further questions, please email or phone Michael on +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), and we'll do our best to answer them.
