Description

First floor of traditional house, completely modernized and stylishly furnished. Two double bedrooms, one with balcony, large sitting room, breakfast room opens to terrace, garden. Tiled bathroom, fully equipped kitchen. Minutes to historic centre.

The apartment is very spacious and stylishly furnished, and completely equipped as a home, down to the last coffee spoon. Both bedrooms have queen-sized double beds; the large bedroom also has a balcony overlooking the street. Bathrobes, towels and slippers are provided of course. The kitchen has all the appliances you need for easy cooking - use the food supplies in the cupboards as well. It also has a washing machine. The 30 m2 sitting room has a dining table for six, piano, tv, sofa and easy chairs. The breakfast room for four opens up completely to the large, sunny terrace. There is a large garden below the terrace where you may relax in the hammock or light the barbecue. WIFI internet access in the apartment. For guests staying more than a week, I arrange weekly cleaning and bed change for no extra charge. A home from home!

Guests use the entire apartment, which is on the first floor of a traditional house. Neighbours on the upper floor are also my close friends, and can give help if needed. Free parking in the streets around the apartment.

I am not in the apartment when guests stay there, but can be contacted by email or phone. A friend or my neighbours will be here to welcome you and give you the keys. I leave a folder of information about the apartment with instructions for using the appliances, and also a folder about local amenities such as restaurants and sightseeing.

My neighbourhood is in the historical part of Porto, though not the exact centre. However, it is only a minute's walk from the apartment to the local train which brings you to the heart of historic Porto in four minutes. Or take the metro - four minutes from the apartment - and you are at the central avenue in eight minutes. My area of Porto is homely and safe, with local historical sites, shops and restaurants, and a splendid view of the river from its parks. It's also worth exploring when you are in the city.

Guests arriving at the airport can use a direct metro line to the apartment, or I can arrange for a car to pick them up - this costs €25. There is free public parking in the street. One benefit of living where I do is that public transport is right on my doorstep. In a minute of two I am at the bus stop, metro or train station all of which get me into the heart of the city in minutes. They also serve the other parts of Porto, such as the avenues and beaches along the Atlantic coast, and the famous Matosinhos fishing quarter with more sardine cafes to choose from than you can manage.

Règlement intérieur

Treat the apartment as your home and look after it as you would your own place! No smoking. It is not suitable for young children, and I am sorry, but pets cannot be brought here. Minimum stay 4 nights.

Proche centre historique.

Only two minutes walk from the Campanha train station, Ann's apartment met all our expectations. It is truly lovely, from the eclectic art works on the walls, to the large sunny terrace with potted flowers and on to the downstairs garden and hammock! Ann welcomed us at noon with the table set with flowers, a bottle of wine, and food in the fridge for a welcoming light lunch. We stayed for a week and would certainly recommend Ann's apartment to others visiting Porto.

Ann could not have been more hospitable. Her advice prior to and after booking was exceptional. The apartment was a delight and we were honoured to be able to stay in her magnificently appointed flat, re-furbished and extended a few years ago with flair and attention to the original detail. The flat could not have been better appointed. With so much to do in Porto and environs it was a shame not to have had time simply to relax more in the apartment. The location was also excellent and so close to the metro. Thank you so much Ann.

I was born and married in New Zealand, and lived with my historian husband many years in London where our son was born, working as a teacher and bibliographer. I spent eleven years in St Petersburg, at first working on a replica ship building project with my husband; after his death there, I stayed on to teach English and write. In 2009 I settled in Porto, and am absolutely pleased to be living here. I write a lot, read, paint, renovate furniture, cook, entertain friends, and enjoy local life. I read mainly modern literature, history, anthropology and art history - my favourite artists these days are Matisse, Cezanne and Klee. I am an absentee host because I let my apartment when I am not using it, either when travelling, or when using my other apartment in Porto. However I plan meticulously so that guests will have everything they need to feel welcome and enjoy their stay in this lovely apartment. It is calm, quiet and full of light, and yet minutes away from the metro and local station. You are in the historic heart of the city in less than fifteen minutes.
