Just a bit more finishing touches to the new renovated master bathroom and we'll be ready to take more pictures. Meanwhile, this is a sneak preview of the step-in shower with river-rock floor...ahhh, almost like taking a shower under a tropical waterfall. The parlor is a great spot for enjoying native species botanical garden view, reading from our collection of books, working from home with a view, or catching up on some Netflix on the smart TV.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I'm out of town a little more often these days, but we have several instructional placards to assist you in enjoying the home. We also have many books, pamphlets and printouts to help you pick out nearby favorite sites, beaches, attractions, restaurants, etc or simply read about Hawai’i and it's history.

Autres remarques

translated by Google

We do not have A/C and we tropical residents are acclimated to not needing anything more than the ceiling and desk fans at times in the warmer months and lots of natural tradewinds in other months. It also helps us keep our rates low for our guests. Please consider other listings that do offer A/C if you are in the least bit uncomfortable in warm or humid weather.

René’s place could not have been more perfect! The apartment is in a great location! It is close to downtown but also shares a wonderful view with the park, so it has the great city location with the benefit of feeling like you're in the country. The room and bathroom are beautiful and clean and there is a window by the bed that I kept open and which allowed air flow and the sounds of birds from the park. The entire apartment was breezy and the small back balcony has a view of the park and is a great spot to eat breakfast or just relax! Also, the apartment is clean and spacious with both a washer and dryer. I stayed here for two months while working in downtown, and I could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay! The apartment's location was amazing and very close to two bus stops (4 and 13 ) which went downtown (and probably others, I just used 4 and 13). Also, René went above and beyond as a host! She was so welcoming and very knowledgable about the island and the area. She was also extremely flexible and helpful! She let my family members and friends come and stay on short notice and always responded quickly to any questions I had. Also, she picked me up from my previous air bnb and brought me to hers. She also offered on many occasions to pick me and/or my visitors up from the airport or drop us off. (Also, the airport is very close- only around a 15 minute drive!) She also provides snorkeling and towels and other beach gear along with fresh fruit and cereal and other treats! René’s is also really close to an awesome bakery, which serves delicious breakfast (called Liliha's Bakery- within walking distance). I highly recommend staying with René! The room and the entire apartment are amazing, as is René! She made my stay in Honolulu so easy and so relaxed! I truly could not have asked for a better experience!

If you are looking for a home away from home you will really enjoy staying at "René's place." It is that casual and enjoyable. René does not believe in "just the basics." She goes beyond the call in her generosity with food and anything you might need to make your visit comfortable. Don't bother bringing soap or shampoo, cellophane tape or storage bags, beach towels or snorkels, boogie boards or stay-cool storage containers. They're all here, plus more that you don't even have at home. The refrigerator is stocked with condiments, and the cabinets are loaded with herbs and spices. And if you want to rent her car, that too is available for you. Have I forgotten anything? It's here. Of course you will meet other guests and you can be sure it will be a great experience since only the best pick René's place! Have fun. You'll come back again, for sure.

We stayed for 5 weeks in the master bedroom of this condo unit, located in a quiet cul de sac. The bedroom, kitchen and common areas were immaculate and well maintained. The bed was comfortable; the kitchen well equipped, The appliances (oven, toaster oven, microwave, showers, washer dryer, iron) were in excellent working order. This is a perfect location for a day-long visit or extended stay. The balcony overlooks a small botanical garden. We were walking distance from Chinatown and on the bus routes. Rene is a wonderful resource for what to see and do in Hawaii. She is friendly and accommodating. There is WIFI, and access to NETFLIX and AMAZON, if you want a quiet night in. I recommend this location unconditionally. It was our good fortune to have found such a wonderful base for exploring Hawaii.

I venture to say that there is no warmer nor more welcoming host than Rene' in the Airbnb world-wide listing of hosts and their offerings. That is a mighty strong statement but in my experience over the years, my extensive travels and encounters with people, I can honestly say that Rene' is among the stars in my galaxy of memorable people. She is conscientious to a fault about providing everything that a guest might need, appreciate and enjoy -- and more. In fact, there are few hosts who would furnish a variety of soaps and shampoos, heaps of fresh fruit for breakfast, syrup and honey for the pancake mix which is right there among the granolas and cereals for the morning. But I just skim the surface. It is the atmosphere that she creates in the house that makes it a place that any guest would thoroughly enjoy. She is fussy about who enters under her roof and so I remember with feelings of lasting friendship the people I met at Rene''s home -- Ben the med student, and the Parisien photographer Ronan, Stacy, Patty and Cathy --so fun loving and engaging, Jonas and Chiara from Germany, Barbara and Ron, and let me never forget Jerry and Kim, nor Guy, and Jin traveling from China via Japan. The list could go on, all interesting and in some cases, fascinating people. They are a tribute to Rene's judge of character. The house is situated away from the noise and touristy, party atmosphere of Waikiki and yet it is ideally located for easy access to all of Honolulu. Aloha Tower is within walking distance as is the querky and other-world feeling of Chinatown. I cannot think of anything of significance that would sound a negative note in my song of praise. People's likes and dislikes vary and so, in all fairness, I must repeat the cliche that you can please some people some of the time but not all of the people all the time. If you enjoy the company of others and like the many spices of life, then you will be more than simply satisfied at Rene's home away from home.

I was here for 5 weeks. My experience was wonderful. The master room and bathroom met my needs more than fine -- they were a delight to have. Well worth it to me to be on this quieter side of the condo facing the botanical garden and with my own bathroom. The kitchen also worked very well (I cooked nearly every meal instead of eating out). Other guests were pleasant but I rarely saw them since they tended to be out all day and evening. So it was almost like I had this condo to myself. ;) Rene wasn't in town except for a few days during my stay but even when gone did a great job of being quickly responsive via text/email when questions or a few issues came up (such as a balky washing machine, which she promptly fixed). The location is terrific if you want a central Honolulu spot for walking or busing in any direction on the island. Only if your sole focus is going to be Waikiki would I suggest perhaps a different location, but even from here two different buses head a couple of time per hour to/from Waikiki. I didn't rent a car intentionally and just bought a monthly bus pass, which worked out great. The bus system on this island, unlike other islands, is very workable. All in all, I highly recommend this room, and if I return to Oahu in a future year I very likely may aim to rent it again! :)

Aloha kākou! Salut! こんにちは! I am a local "hapa" (half Okinawan half French).

I started out as an RN, wandered into the U. Of Hawai'i faculty system, and then... fell in love with teaching, learning, and educational design; especially alternative and web-based solutions.

My passions are endless: mixed media art, reading, technology, knitting, power tools, gardening, skiing, hiking, biking, camping, travel, volunteerism, baseball, Broadway, cooking, entertaining and TGIF's!

After spending most of my life in the islands and in empty-nest mode, I am designing the second half of my life to explore mainland opportunities and travel more. I am now working on historic renovation projects in Oregon.

I have always loved having a "home" in the islands to be able to welcome mainland, inter-island, and international family and friends. Air B&B is the perfect answer to being able to welcome and host them as well as new friends, enabling everyone to enjoy all of what we islanders love about living here.

Whether you are looking for a more private stay in the master bedroom suite and botanical garden side of our home, a 2nd bedroom to relax in after your get-up-and-go-explore days, or a budget friendly 3rd bedroom for a business trip or single traveler, you will find our central Honolulu location next to downtown ideal for enjoying many eateries (walkable), historical sites and museums (several walkable), beaches, picnics and Waikiki (long walk, short bus ride), mini hikes and all-day treks, quick strolls and lingering walks, and TGIF or TGIH (Thank Goodness It's Hawai'i).

I am off-island often more than not lately. We have put together a fabulous printed concierge to go along with your island getaway stay to help take care of you.
