Paul was very responsive and accommodating before and during our stay, yet we had complete privacy in the cabin. Listing was as described, very cozy. Fireplace was a highlight and I was so very glad he replaced the compost toilet with a regular, Japanese style Toto! The amazing view could also be had from the tub; we fit 2 adults and a baby with a squeeze, but comfortable enough. We really enjoyed cooking in the open kitchen with all the cast-iron pots and ceramic cookware. Walking down the path out back and through the rice fields was also relaxing. The neighborhood is very countryside and traditional. The ski slope is tiny (2 beginner runs), but there are some onsen and nice walks in town, plus the brewery has some ace beers. This is definitely a Little House on the Prairie experience. The one area that could be improved upon is the place could use a good cleaning, especially for the price; we traveled with a baby and have a keener eye for dirt with a little one crawling around.

Very nice and comfortable place for those who want a quiet retreat close to the mountain. If you dream of staying by the fire while reading a good book with an amazing view in the mountains in a place with some history, Paul's kura is for you. Very good too if you want to explore the mountains around, between central and southern alps.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Paul's kura. The village and the surrounding mountains are beautiful and we were kept very busy with various hikes, trips to temples and onsens. Paul and his family were very accommodating and made our stay comfortable and unique. We are very pleased to have had the chance to explore this part of Japan. Thanks!

We spent some wonderful days in this special place. Although the weather didn't allow us any real vista's, we still got peeks now and again. The place itself full of character and you realy feel as if you are far away from being a tourist for a while. Some nice hikes nearby, car definately needed though! Paul and his family were friendly and helpful! We definately enjoyed the local bar/restaurant in the village, where we most likely had the loveliest food in the best of companies in our total japan trip! If you are looking for a place to get far away from it all, this places comes highly recommended!

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I wish the weather had been better as the sunsets can be really spectacular. Try visiting again in the fall/winter when it is almost always clear!

Paul's Kura house has great nostalgic charms, well mixed with the Japanese antiques and the Western layout, that seems to embody Paul's personal history. We enjoyed his self-built bathroom, cooking in his spacious kitchen and having a chat with him over some drinks. Paul and his wife are open-minded and hospitable, very easy to communicate with. The maps he prepared are really helpful for us to discover a good soba noodle shop and an Italian restaurant nearby. The neighborhood is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. We love the location as well although it was a bit hard for us to find out the place at first. We'd love to go back to Paul's place in winter time so that we could enjoy his wonderful wood stove.

Paul's House is a museum of music instruments, toys and everyday farmer's items. It's very comfortable place for our holiday in summer. The houses doesn't have aircon but electric fans are good enough and it wasn't so hot in the foot of mountains. Paul and his wife are both very hospitable people. He took our daughter for morning walk with his dog and she was so happy. There are many local interests and walking route. We found Silk Musem, ten minutes drive, very interesting to learn how silk is produced and enjoyed practice manual silk knitting. We hope to visit Paul's House in winter time again. Thank Paul for your great efforts to convert farm house warehouse to such a nice accommodation.
