The house is one of three new modern houses at Sunnuhlíð farmland, opened in February 2015 - few kilometers from Akureyri.
The houses, all identical, are especially designed for a couple or a small family travelling on their own in Iceland. Although description of the houses says they accommodate only two people, there is no problem for a couple with two children to stay. On our property guests can enjoy the beautiful view over Eyjafjörður and Akureyri. A car or bike is necessary to reach Sunnuhlíð. There is easy access from route 1 (the ring road).
On the property of Sunnuhlíð there is a bigger house for several guests and two smaller apartments.
If this house is occupied at the date you prefer, you can check the other two (house nr. 1 or nr. 2). We have also two apartments "Apartment in the country -great view! Apt. A or Apt.B and a bigger house, “House in the country – great view!”

On the property of Sunnuhlið you will be in close contact with nature and can go on short or longer trips straight up the hill from the house. Excellent for bird watching or relaxing walks in nature. Walking distance from the house you will find The folk and outsider art museum and a small village called Svalbarðseyri which has a pool and a beach. We would like to emphasise the great view from the houses at the midnight sun.
The house is in a quiet neighbourhood at 12 minutes drive from Akureyri which offers all the usual attractions of a town. From Sunnuhlíð you will have access to all the activities and services that the North of Iceland has to offer. (I.e. Mývatn, Dettifoss, the Grand Canyon of Jökulsárgljúfur, whale watching, sightseeing, hiking, horse riding, etc.)
All the pictures are taken in our closest neighbourhood.
There are few rules. Smoking is not allowed inside the house. We expect our guests to treat the house with respect and leave it in the same condition as they got it. Cleaning is not included in price.
Guests are expected to make their beds themselves and remove the sheets at departure.

I live with my wife Katrín in Sunnuhlíð, I am an economist and she is a reflexologist.
We have four children, who have all flown the nest, and many grandchildren. We have travelled a lot in Iceland and know the neighbourhood area very well - from the shore up to the mountains.
We speak English, Scandinavian and a bit of German.
