We offer two separate suites with a private shared patio. Both rooms comfortably fit two guests in Queen bed. Located in a Malibu mountaintop estate. Hiking trails, 8 minutes to the beach and Malibu center.
Recently a guest asked if their son could share the room and we were able to accommodate the guests with an extra single bed and it worked really well.

Le logement

Rancho Chiquita is located atop a mountain with sweeping views of the Coastline and mountains. A quiet romantic getaway.

Accès des voyageurs

We have an in suite refrigerator and Coffee Maker . Cell service/Wifi is spotty in the mountains (Verizon works quite well) so we have a hard line for North American phone calls. If you absolutely MUST have internet/Wifi 100% of the time, then this guest suite is not suitable for you.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I or my property manager will be here to check you in and help you with any of your needs. I live on site and so does property manager. We try to give you as much privacy as you wish but we are there if you need anything at all.

Autres remarques

We do have dogs on the property but we are very respectful of peace and quiet and if you need a good sleep in mornings let us know and we can be extra quiet. The dogs bark when we feed them at 1pm and at 6pm when we bring them inside the house for the night. It has rarely been a problem but just a heads up in case that is an issue for you. Most of our guests are out sightseeing and at the beaches and the like during those times.

I am delighted you have chosen to visit, whether it's business or vacation, I want you to enjoy your visit and the beautiful 250 acre property. I have a few reqhttps://www.airbnb.com/helpuests and a few suggestions to make your stay the best it can possibly be.

We do not accept more than 4 guests per booking (a child counts as one guests we are not age discriminatory) NO exceptions.

We do not allow you to have visitors during your stay, NO exceptions. The property will be locked closed to anyone other than you, our very special and valued guests. This is our practice for yours and our security.

First and very important is check in. Once I send you the directions please actually read them before you get into your car because the Corral Canyon part of your drive does not work too well with GPS or WAZE. And I promise you will get lost.

Another consideration is that once we agree on an arrival window of time to please honor that as this is not the kind of Estate where we can leave out a key in a lockbox.

We need to check you in personally, so if we agree you're arriving between 4 and 5 pm can you please do that unless you've hit murderous traffic or your airline was delayed which we totally understand. We do make special arrangements to greet you so please respect that we have other things to attend to and our staff have to go home after a hard days work.

We definitely prefer you to arrive in daylight but that is not always possible in the winter months. If you HAVE to arrive very late at night and IF I can get a staff member to stay and let you in we request that you give them a generous tip as they all have families and other business to attend to. Once you arrive we respectfully request a copy of your passport or drivers license.

We respectfully ask that you do not wipe your make up off on our white towels or washcloths or use them for any other use. You may not take the white towels to the beach or spa. We provide special towels for that.

We also insist that you do not leave food lying around the house and that you use the many trash cans with lids we provide inside the home. We also request that you take the trash out to the dumpster with you if it starts to overflow inside the house. We leave in a mountain area and we are very prone to pests when food or sticky drinks are left lying around.

We have several sets of outdoor seating areas and we ask that if you move them around, which you are most welcome to, that you return them to their original positions.

Please do not leave the windows open while you are running the AC or the heaters.

We do not allow parties or weddings for Airbnb clients. We prefer that you check with us about receiving visitors as we have dogs and gate access to deal with. There no smoking in the house.

SMOKING: Out of respect for those that do not smoke and are offended by the left over odor there is a "NO SMOKING INSIDE THE HOUSE" rule. Out of respect for those that enjoy smoking, you may smoke out on the deck. We ask that our guests that wish to smoke observe that we are in a delicate semi-wilderness environment and that smokers use all reasonable precautions with extinguishing their smokes in a safe and responsible manner, and that they do not leave any Smokers Trash (Butts & Filters) lying about (Please ask for ashtray for outside smoking :) )
PETS: It is best if we do not allow guests to bring pets. We rescue dogs on the property, all of whom are friendly, are used to dealing with our valued guests and each other. Our dogs do not roam around the property and have their own quarters. Bringing other animals especially other dogs into their territory can be disruptive and make for time spent dealing with that instead of relaxing and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.

Pros: - Clean room, comfortable to sleep, well stocked toiletries - owner has added a good interior designing taste to the room - Quiet and Relaxing Neighborhood 20 mins to Pacific coast drive that has access to all beaches Cons: - Overpriced for a single room. We regret not booking a four star hotel that we were getting a cheaper price -Simply a room to sleep, it can get quite boring, nothing to do at the property!

Hi Naman, Thank you for the review. I can't imagine being anyone bored in Malibu with our world class beaches, restaurants and hiking trails. Here is what we offer all our guests as local suggestions and I am sorry you were not able to find stuff to do. Rancho Chiquita itself has 250 acres of private hiking trails. I am also curious where you can find a hotel room with free parking, taxes included and more for less than $169.00 per night. The only hotel we have in Malibu is $689.00 per night plus plus plus. Please share your discovery so I can add it to my list. On a personal note you claim you left early because you said you had a family emergency and because of that I did not post a review for you . But I have to say I have NEVER EVER in all my years hosting airbnb seen a more disgusting mess that you and your wife left my suite in. There was garbage strewn everywhere even though we provide you with a garbage can both inside the suite and in the patio. You left the coffee machine on, the air conditioning on, dirty wet towels spread everywhere, floor, etc. You left food waste lying around attracting ants and you left the lights on. So sad that you had to write this review and that you did not capture the beauty of our beautiful home. My Malibu ~Restaurants and Beaches and more If you want to be on the actual sand with an ocean view the Sunset Beach Bar and Restaurant on Zuma beach is my favorite and least expensive. They have. $6 happy hour Monday through Friday from 3pm to 9pm with fish tacos, fried calamari, tuna tartare, meatballs, all kinds of regular priced salads my favorite is the shaved artichoke and arugula. If you want farm to table on the malibu pier is the Malibu farm restaurant. Helene Henderson is the owner chef of this iconic restaurant. Parking is $10, For family friendly sushi Bui sushi near ralphs. Reasonable priced and great bowls and rolls. Another great pick and local favorite is Ollo also near ralphs. Ollo is great for breakfast lunch brunch and dinner. They have happy hour for $5. Casa Escobar is a great fine Mexican is located near the Pier. They have a great happy hour Monday through Friday. My favorites are the arugula Quinoa salad with grilled salmon and the famous spinach enchiladas. Kathy Escobar is the owner and a good friend. Ollie's duck dive at point dume has great food. The duck fries and burgers are my favorite. For people watching and super expensive fabulous food is Nobu. Need to call ahead reservations are hard to get in summer. Chefs Omigashi menu is best value. If you don't have a reservation you can go to the bar and eat there. Geoffrey's is another fine dining restaurant. Super expensive but great service and ocean view. My favorite meal there is the scallops with fois gras. For the best breakfast burrito in the world go to Lilys cafe at heathercliff road. Ask for extra green sauce. They are huge so dont buy the large. Expect to wait. Malibu seafood has best seafood in town. Not cheap and in summer expect to wait. We have several fast food outlets in Malibu like McDonalds, Subway and the usual Starbucks and Coffee Bean. Shopping ~girly retail therapy ! Pinnacle Planet blue M Frederic Santa Monica Restaurants As you may know I own Lula Cocina Mexicana and Finn Mc Cools Irish Pub both located in the Ocean park area of Main Street four doors apart. Let me know if you decide to stop there and I will set it up and direct you to some shopping that's to die for. If you want to go wine tasting go to Cornell Tasting room place off Kanan Dune road. Right beside is the Olde Place know for its funky atmosphere and great wood grilled meat and veggies. If you buy a bottle wine at tasting room and bring it they charge you a mini corkage. It's by far the most fun and a tasting is only $10. Malibu wines off Kanan is a super fun place. You can bring a picnic here. Sagehill Winery is by appointment only. Gabrielle Harris makes award winning wines right next door to us in Latigo Canyon. She does not have a tasting room but instead she invites guests to her home. We always suggest making a purchase of her wines. Last time I was there I bought two cases I love it so much Beaches are Leo Carillo, el Matador and Zuma.

Geradline's home is absolutely stunning and tucked away in the beautiful mountains near Malibu. We could not have asked for a better view or place to be in Malibu. The room was very private and there was also a private porch/sitting area for us to sit in the morning to drink coffee or watch the sunset. This home is great for those who like to be secluded and not be bothered by the host/see the host much at all. Things to note: -the drive up is a little tricky and windy, not good for those who fear heights or do not like seclusion -bring some water because we were not given any -there are other guests sharing a wall in the room next door and if they are loud people you may be kept up at night -she has a dog rescue on property

Rancho Chiquita is a peaceful, quiet and charming place to stay. It is clean, safe, and is literally only 10 minutes to PCH in Malibu. I will stay here again next time I'm in the area.

We had a mixed experience with this Airbnb and wouldn't stay here again. Positive points from our stay were that the property has beautiful ocean views out over the canyon with the ocean in the distance and the house itself is beautiful. Unfortunately, the potential of a quiet retreat in Malibu hills is negated by barking dogs and a shared wall between rooms that allows guests to hear every noise. During our stay we were awoken at midnight by a guests in the room next to us talking loudly on a speakerphone call. Perhaps the most troubling of all was when we arrived, the trash had not been removed after the previous guests, the ceramic cups were dirty, and we also noticed multiple types of hair, dust and grime on the toilet, which was really disturbing. Our stay was in July during a heatwave, and the location of this property a few miles inland was very hot, and without access to a pool or tv, we really couldn't enjoy the outdoor patio and instead spent most of our time in Malibu, which is a bit of a drive. We know that the hosts means well, but we also found her communication style to be a bit unorganized, demanding and impatient. A couple days prior to arrival she sent 7-8 emails to us while we were working. The day of arrival the host sent a text asking me to check my email for another email she had sent and to let her know. I was very busy at work trying to finish my day so I could meet family for the (URL HIDDEN) the Airbnb. The key we were given during checkin did not work, but we chose to just leave the door unlocked during our stay because it was a double-gated property and we didn't want to spend our short time working out accommodation logistics, we wanted to be at the beach! It would have been nice if that had been checked prior to our arrival. Perhaps the most negative point of all was that on the last morning of our stay, at 6:30 AM, the host sent another email asking that before we leave to wash dishes in the bathroom sink and take the trash to the dumpster. We then understood why the dishes had been dirty when we arrived....there was no dish soap in the bathroom to wash the dishes with. Were sure that previous guests, upon that request, have just rinsed their coffee cups out in the bathroom sink and placed them back! As for the trash, we had paid a cleaning fee of $50 for the room, trash had been left in our room from previous guests, and we shared a trash bin on the patio with other guests next door, so asking us to take trash out meant she was asking one guest to take out other guests trash as well, and we're ALL paying a cleaning fee! Although we did have a beautiful, clear full...

Geraldine is a wonderful host. The home is in the hills above Malibu and it offers a great view of the coast by day and the beach city lights by night. The room is very nice and there is a large covered patio next to the room that we enjoyed many times during our stay. We would highly recommended the accommodation and we plan on going back there in the future.

This place is great. Geraldine was a great help. The scene is beautiful and the neighborhood is quiet. It's a great place for relaxing or for someone who's looking for a weekend retreat like us. Definitely gonna come back and recommend it to my friends.
