Rooms descriptions didn't really match the place I actually visited because it was basically a hotel with 2-3 rooms on each floor, while the rooms on AirBnB the host posted seem like rooms at different locations. So, I couldn't tell whether or not the room I stayed at was actually the room I chose on AirBnB. The picture of the owner you see on AirBnB is not the person that greets you when you get there; She's probably the mother of the person who actually runs the place. The room itself was not bad and the host (or the owner of the hotel, Mr. Phung) was very friendly. The stay was good all in all for the following reasons. 1) It's quiet at night as it's 20 meters from the street. 2) It's quite close to downtown and it takes only 10-15 min to main streets (DeTham street or Pham Ngo Lao street) even on foot and it's on the same street as War Remnants Museum, which is one of the main trourist attractions. 3) Near the hotel, there's a market where you can buy fruits and Bahn Mi, a Vietnamese style sandwich. I went there with 3 of my other friends, so 4 people stayed in one room and it was big enough for us. I think it's a good deal considering its cost and distance from the main streets.
My family and I (7 of us) had a very pleasant stay here. It is quiet as it is away from the main street. It is also a walking distance to Ben Thanh market area but the weather could be hot in the daytime. Mr Phung was very helpful to us. i have even arranged with him to pick us up from the airport instead of the hassle to book a taxi at the airport as most Vietnamese can't speak fluent English. I have also arranged for Mr Phung to arrange some local day tours for us. Please be very careful when taking the taxi as we have heard from friends about the dishonesty of the taxi drivers in HCMC.
I contacted the host a few days before we arrived to ensure everything was in order, and she assured us of the 3 rooms we booked. When we checked in, only 2 rooms were available and one more room would be located 500m away. We travelled as a family and of course would want to stay in the same place. I ended up moving the whole family to another nearby hotel.
