Welcome to the Star Gazer's Inn. We are located underneath Cathedral Mountain in Alpine, Texas. The Star Gazer's Inn has been in my family since the beginning of time. Well almost. The original ranch house was built in the 1880's.

Le logement

There is a Baby Grand piano in the library for those who love to play or just pretend. The hacienda is on an acre of land with a surrounding rock wall and several mature 100 year-old White Oak trees on the front lawn; perfect for weddings, festive events, family reunions, or exclusive R&R

Accès des voyageurs

The Milky Way can easily be seen on clear nights. Pure well water from underground springs will fulfill your basic needs along with fresh air and a bundle of complimentary Oak firewood.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

You are pretty much on your own out there. I will call to see if everything is okay and we also have long distance telephone service on the telephone in the Master Bedroom.

Autres remarques

A land line and Wi-fi is provided; cell phone reception is non-existent. We do have long distance on the telephones in the master bedroom and kitchen.
The house is old and far out in the country. There are all kinds of things that can go wrong. But it's livable and very beautiful so I can't give any refunds.

This was a magical secluded home. We had a few kids in our group and they had fun exploring the grounds and the artifacts around the home. It is up a rocky road that as a city girl I did not enjoy but got used to. :) Overall it was beautiful location and if you want to get away from it all this is your place! Also, very close to Alpine. Tracey made sure to check on us and have someone available incase we needed anyone.

beautiful home, the rocky dirt road there is pretty bumpy so take it very slow. That first cattle guard has a major drop so from the first turn just plan on taking it very very slow. Its about a 30-45 min drive to go the five miles from the main road and the sign that points to the house is easy to miss. Great news though the entire area is beautiful and there is lots of livestock and horses to soak in the view during the drive. Once you are there its beautiful, just be careful going down the drive way as it also is extremely rocky and easy to bottom out your car. If you have a truck or a big vehicle its probably no big deal but don't take a normal sized or compact car down there. The home is beautiful though and it's in a nice area to get away from it all.

Thank you so much staying at my place. I'm so glad everything went well. The road is kind of long and Rocky but it is a county road so it's actually not so bad if you're use to that area. And you're right I'd rather be going slow on that road than being stuck in traffic in the city. I really hope you guys can come back soon? Thanks again, Tracey

The place was great, but some necessities were not taken care of.

This place is spacious (goes on and on with many extra rooms like a library with a piano, telescope and antique type writer), charming and interesting! We almost felt almost like we were staying in a museum with fascinating history. We were going to spend one of our 3 days in Alpine but we decided to just stay at the inn and explore and discover inside and out. We loved the porch even though it was a bit chilly at night but with the fireplace and comfy chaise lounge, couches and rocking chairs, we almost lived entirely on the porch and grilled outdoors. Some of us slept on the porch it was great!!! Fantastic star studded nights!

Tracey was extremely helpful and communicative from the very beginning of the process. If you stay here you have to go outside at night as the star viewing is some of the best I've ever seen! The house is very spacious as well!

This house is ever so spacious and has quite the history. It was built in the late 1800s and had two subsequent additions in the 20th century. You can walk throughout the house and see changes in the architecture and building materials. Tracey and her son were wonderful hosts and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. My only regret is not staying another day longer and exploring the actual property some more. There is a ton of great hikes to do in the area. Make sure to stock up on food and toiletries and it's about ~30 minutes to Alpine. I would also recommend bringing a Truck or SUV if you have one as a rocky country road leads to the property. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. Thank you Tracey!

Our stay was delightful. The house was spacious, comfortable and well stocked. The views were AMAZING. Everything was as described or better. We even got a super friendly rental-pet in the form of the local farm cat. The dirt road seemed a bit long but then every drive feels twice as long as it actually is in the dark when you haven't been there yet. So don't feel lost - you aren't! We would definitely stay here again if the whole family comes out!

I love having guest like you. Best of all was that your grandmother was a good friend of my families and she had actually been out there before. It's truly a small world. Thanks again for picking my place and hope you come back soon. Tracey
