À propos de ce logement

Casa Arriba is comprised of individual casitas, or small houses, connected by staircases and winding patios. In the tradition of Mexico, the kitchen is housed separately in another casita. The design of the casa allows privacy and quiet for guests. See casita descriptions below.

*See individual pages for Casita Blanca, Casita Piedra and Casita Azul if you desire a single casita booking.

Casa Arriba is a beautiful villa built in 2007. Guests feel they could be on the coast of Greece, Portugal or Italy because of its white on white exterior, tranquil setting and sophisticated but understated interior design. The villa is comprised of five casitas, three of which are available for rent, and the communal cocina casita which is available for guests' use.
We are so pleased to announce our cool news: a new pool overlooking the view which seats 8 people after a day surfing or at the beach.

We have THE BEST guests stay at Casa Arriba! We are proud of the type of people the villa attracts and hope you will be among them.

Casita Blanca is a tranquil, lovely casita with a kitchenette, queen bed with romantic mosquito netting, private balcony and the best bathroom in the casa. From your stone shower you will look out over the jungle, pueblo and sea. The same view provides you with a relaxing sight on your private balcony for watching sunsets, doing early am yoga or simply sitting and talking. You are in the trees.
The high, beamed ceilings have patate mat impressions in the cement which give the casita a feeling of space and luxury. Directly outside the door is a private patio, cool hammock area and the main kitchen which is also available for your use. It is a charming home away from home which has delighted all its inhabitants.

Casita Blanca is one of 3 available for rent. If you have more than two in your party, Casitas Piedra and Casita Azul are also available not rented.

Casita Piedra is a gorgeous high ceiling beamed stone room with double and single beds and dramatic art. It is cool and cozy with ample room and a favorite of teens, kids and those who love castle like environments. The bathroom has a unique antique copper sink and stone shower directly outside the door.

Casita Azul is on the upper level and has endless sea view and artists' light, a balcony, stone and tumbled marble shower and queen bed with mosquito netting.

All casitas have use of the main kitchen which is housed in a separate casita in the traditional Mexican style. Also enjoy our new pool that is the perfect spot to relax under the stars after a long day at the beach. Al fresco dining is available in the garden at the large banquette and table.

The location is pristine, quiet with no loud night time music or early am roosters. It is on a HILL so if you're not hikers, cabs, golf carts and car rentals are available. If you like a workout, join half the pueblo who use the hill loop as their exercise course as it commands some of the most spectacular views in town. Or do a combo of both. It is a 10 minute walk down to the playa and centro or a mere 4 minute drive. Once back, you will be above the noise and congestion of the pueblo.

Buses are avialable to take you to Puerto Vallarta for only 20 pesos (less than $1.75) and the trip is 1 hour.

We also offer Concierge Services for extra fees. We offer a guest chef, cooking lessons in traditional Mexican fare, beginning painting classes, Mariachi Band, in-room massages, reservations and more. Order airport van pick up and delivery for $140usd round trip with a stop at Mega, the big supermarket in Bucerias so that your breakfast, meals and snacks are stocked for your stay. We can also grocery shop for you. Ask for our grocery list.

Optional breakfasts at $10pp. Guest chef for traditional Mexican fare available upon request for breakfast and/or dinner.

High speed internet is available.

Casa Arriba has had zero problems in part thanks to the two adorable, friendly but territorial guard dogs on site. We do try to keep them quiet 95% of the time, but their job keeps you safe.

The casa is filled with art as the owner is a painter. If you see something you like, please ask as many paintings are for sale.

We had a great trip to Sayulita. The place was nice and comfortable but the construction was pretty loud, starting at 8am. Bonnie had adequately warned us about it but still an important thing for others to know in the future. Bonnie was also a very nice host but it was unclear from the description that she lives there and would be staying there the whole time as well and sharing kitchen etc. She was very accommodating and tried to make us feel at home but still an important thing to call out for others. There was much less privacy than we had expected. We also had trouble with hot water which was an inconvenience. Bonnie did help a lot though with getting a ride from the airport and setting up a fun birthday dinner with a chef.

I'm sorry Freddy that you all weren't aware that Casa Arriba is my home. It is fully disclosed on the site and I made every possible attempt to provide you with the utmost in privacy by not eating here, leaving each day and many nights and working in my casita while also cleaning up for you each day. I'm not sure what more could have done to provide you more privacy. Perhaps a better fit next time would be one of the party house rentals in town. I'm happy to provide names if you return. I'm also sorry that the boiler broke and that the plumber didn't turn the heat up after repairing it. It was inconvenient to me as well. I understand your feelings about the construction across the street (which will be finished by June.) I have been very fortunate to have fantastic guests that took it in stride, but I get that construction is not easy for everyone. Best to you and thank you for booking at Casa Arriba.

We loved staying at Casa Arriba! The property is beautiful and exactly what we were hoping for. There are 3 large rooms or casitas, each with their own bathroom and very comfortable beds. We slept well high above the town with the cool ocean breezes. The casitas are centered around a lovely courtyard and communal kitchen with incredible view of the ocean. There is also a small dipping pool in the courtyard that is very refreshing after a long hot day. Bonnie also has great style! I loved her eclectic mix of furnishings that pull from her world-wide adventures. It really was the perfect place for us to stay because we like being a little of the beaten path.

Thank you for your kind words Sarah. It's easy to be a host to great guests. I'm sure we could have covered alot more territory over many more breakfasts. Perhaps someday again. Hope to see you back here again.

Lovely property with great views of the ocean! We loved having two of the individual casitas and then having one main public space to share. The rooms were very comfortable and Bonnie has a great eye for design. She was a lovely host with a wealth of knowledge to share with her guests. We rented a car and are so glad we did as getting up and down the hill would of been frustrating without one. We loved our stay and would be happy to return!

Bonnie was a delightful host and even took the time to hang with us and take us around town a bit. The casita was clean and lovely. Beautiful views! The grounds were very welcoming as well and felt very safe. Staying there made the start to our trip wonderful! We would stay there again anytime :)

My boyfriend and I decided to spend a little extra and stay at Casa Arriba for our anniversary and it was well worth it. Beautiful home, clean, everything you need in the kitchen to prepare meals/drinks, beach towels, peaceful garden, and a million dollar view from our room (Casita Azul - top floor). We booked during 'Sayulita Days' and the town was especially busy and loud into the evening - it was nice to escape all that in our romantic retreat. The kitchen is communal which I enjoyed - got to chat with a young family staying on the main level, and attempt to play spanish Scrabble in the evenings over some tequila. Bonnie was a great host and was always around when we needed her advice on things to see and places to eat in Sayulita. She has two dogs (Chilie & Silver), who were friendly and fun to have around. I will mention two things: The hill is steep - unless you are really into walking/climbing you will want to have a car here or be prepared to pay for cabs quite a bit. After a couple beers and a day at the beach the hike was out of the question - we could always find parking in town. We had a rental car and never walked it once. Secondly, if you are prone to mosquito bites bring spray (my boyfriend was fine but they love me). Great Wifi!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry you were a magnet for Mosquitos. It's the first time in 8 years I've had that complaint. Must be your beautiful skin!

We loved our stay at Bonnie's casita in Sayulita, with its incredible views of the forest and ocean. Bonnie is basically a walking, talking encyclopaedia of things to do in the area. She also told us some fascinating stories and was attentive and considerate to our needs. The amazing view does come at a small price; unless you're a fitness freak, I'd recommend getting a taxi ($50 pesos) up the hill to Bonnie's place.

Brian, I enjoyed meeting you both. Good luck with your career and will be sure you will be running the paper in no time. PS the Nanzal hill will turn anyone into a fitness freak after one hike up. Thankfully most guests are just that, and those, like me who aren't, will cab up for very little dinero. Best, Bonnie.

Hola! I am former public relations professional who worked with blue chip clients including Prince on his film, ¨Purple Rain¨, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, The President´s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Stephen Wozniak´s rock and roll and computer extrvaganza, the Us Festival and many others for 30 years. While running my San Francisco firm, I renovated Ark de Triumph, an historic ark (1800s houseboat) in Sausalito, CA, and ran a bed and breakfast from part of it that was Ïnn of the Month in Travel & Leisure Magazine, featured in a half hour show on HGTV and in major travel and design media in the US. Casa Arriba is my next project and reflects my love of design, art and passion for architecture. According to a leading international architect, ¨There is nothing wrong with the design of this house¨.

I am now an artist and filmmaker and have taught art to over 100 ninos in Sayulita. My film, "Paraiso Antes Y Ahora" focuses on the history and original families of Sayulita. It's been shown numerous times in Sayulita and at the Sayulita Film Festival in 2014 and will be submitted to Latin Film Festivals in Mexico and the US. It's part of a mosaic mural project at Sayulita's Casa de la Cultura depicting the history of the pueblo, both of which are being sponsored by Costa Verde Collegio in Sayulita and the Sayulita Historical Project that captures the pueblo's history in photographs.

It would be remiss to live in Mexico without rescuing street dogs, two of whom win over guests at Casa Arriba, Chili is from the streets of Puerto Vallarta and Silver is from Lo de Marco, north of Sayulita. They are two of ten dogs who have come and sadly gone and they do an excellent job of keeping Casa Arriba safe for guests.

Mi casa es tu casa. Come with a sense of adventure, a love of beauty and peace, respect for your surroundings and a love of laughter and dogs. I'll do everything I can to help make your stay memorable.
