Live the local experience 300 feet off historic St. Charles Ave! Garden District home w/ gated, off-street parking for one or more cars, 1 large bedroom loft upstairs and 1 -OR- 2 downstairs bedrooms (see details), all with a queen bed (plus more in loft), with private laundry & huge, private yard off streetcar. Restaurants, bars & markets a little over a block away.

Le logement

Just 300 feet (~90m) off St. Charles Avenue and the Streetcar in the Garden District, this funky, 100-year-old home is private, comfy, and centrally located.

Living room, kitchen, laundry room, bath, large upstairs bedroom, one *OR* two downstairs bedrooms (depending on the number of guests or by request), huge outdoor living area and gated, off-street parking. (NOTE THAT FOR DEC 1ST AND 2ND 2017 THE 3RD BEDROOM IS NOT AVAILABLE).

THE BEDROOMS:

5-6 guests will automatically have access to the 3rd bedroom.

1-4 guests will have access to (1) the upstairs loft bedroom and (2) the 1st downstairs bedroom, unless the 3rd bedroom (which is downstairs) is requested to be rented upon reservation. Please inquire!

All 3 have very comfortable queen pillowtop beds. In the loft, in addition to a queen bed, there is also a full size bed, a queen sized air mattress that sits high off the floor, and a memory foam twin fold-out bed that is surprisingly comfy (again these are in addition to the traditional pillowtop queen bed).

OTHER FEATURES:

The house has new central A/C and heat, and there is an extra window unit in the loft for individualized comfort. The house also offers 3 stand-alone fans and a ceiling fan.

There is a small, full kitchen stocked with essentials and a laundry room with W/D, detergent, dryer sheets, and an iron with full ironing board.

Outside, a gated walkway opens onto an expansive, private yard, which is exclusively yours. There is a wrought iron table with chairs, gliding bench, umbrella, etc. It's a private space invisible from the street and a great place to have your morning coffee, plan your day, or wind down with some wine at the end of the night.

*******JAZZFEST/HALLOWEEN / VOODOO/ CITY PARK / MUSEUM: There is a bus on the corner that provides virtually door-to-door service to the Fairgrounds & City Park. This is how your host prefers to get there. The Streetcar can take you very close as well. The streetcar AND the bus can take you to the Quarter in minutes as well. ********

There are two units total, yours and mine. The entire property is gated and locked. Enter through a shared, front patio, then down your own private walkway to your door and your yard. Dogs are welcome, just send me a message about them when booking.

-Kitchen with fridge, stove, coffee pot, microwave, pots & pans, utensils etc and starter essentials (coffee, spices, etc)
-Bathroom with hair dryer, shampoo/soap/etc
-Connections include Wifi, TV with Roku
-Outdoors include private large yard with furniture that is exclusively yours during your stay.

-Note the checkin/out times. Often someone is coming or going the same day, so early arrivals or late checkouts may not be possible, but when there is no other guest we may be able to accommodate; please inquire!

I live in the front half of the house and work nearby. There is a lockbox on the gate if I am not home when you arrive. I look forward to meeting you, and am happy to give advice about the city. I am also happy to completely leave you alone!

Either way I am always available by text if you need assistance or advice.

(NOTE) You must let me know upon reservation if you need the 3rd bedroom (parties of 5-6 persons will have it automatically, parties of 1-4 can add it to their reservation for a small charge). Alternatively, parties of 1-4 can simply make the reservation for 5 people, and will thereby automatically rent all 3 bedrooms.

1. Please treat the home as you would that of a good friend, rather than a hotel room.
2. This is a residential block, please keep noise reserved after 11pm, including (and especially) in the yard.
3. There is no smoking inside. Enjoy the beautiful yard!

4. You have your own driveway, and a spot right in front of your walk-in gate. The immediate neighbors like to keep their preferred parking spots :o). So please DO NOT park: (1) In front of the Yellow House next door or (2) directly across the street. Anywhere else is fine. Additionally, it is possible to park more than one car in your driveway if desired (inquire with host).

5. Please clean your dishes :o)
6. Please keep pets off the furniture/beds as a courtesy to future guests. Dogs may NOT be left outside.

un peu cher mais bien situé, calme et joli. le petit jardin et les nombreux produits à disposition dans la cuisine sont appréciables.

There is nothing not to love about this home. Close to everything, (URL HIDDEN) block from the street car, walking distance to any kind of food you could possibly imagine, a small local grocery one block away and even a walk greens within a 10 minute walk. This by far was my favorite trip to New Orleans. From now on, if it is available, when I am in New Orleans this will be our home away from home.

Polly's place was perfect for us with our 2 puppies - it was a quiet street but very close to the streetcars into the French quarter and an easy drive to magazine street for breakfast. Polly has thought of every thing you could possibly need including little notes around the place so you aren't searching for light switches and takeout menus in the drawer! It was comfortable and welcoming!

Great option in the Garden District! The Chalet location is very quiet and peaceful, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds in NOLA. + Location: The Chalet is an ideal location for folks wanting to stay outside of the Quarter but have easy access to all of the spots along the street car line. It is less than a 2 minute walk to the street car, you can't beat that! *Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is mere minutes by foot so you can explore w/o having to book a tour. *Commanders Palace, right across from Lafayette Cemetery and a long time classic spot, is also a great perk for location proximity. * We also loved the easy walk to The Fresh Market ( similar to Whole Foods) to stock up on some great staples. **TIP**Before you head out to shop, grab some re-usable bags from the kitchen- wish I would have checked... makes a huge difference if you're carrying wine bottles! :) +House: The beds were very comfy, and everything was clean and welcoming. We loved being able to play NOLA style music on the ROKU and sit in the charming courtyard before heading out on the town. The well-equipped kitchen, laundry, living room and bathroom were also well suited for any small groups. Tons of extra fans kept the AC and air circulating, so even in the NOLA heat we were comfortable.

At Polly's place you feel like a member of the New Orleans community which greatly enhances the entire the New Orleans experience. The Garden Chalet is charming and very accommodating and I would definitely return to this place.
