Le logement

The Adirondack Lodge Cabin is an Authentic 1920's cabin that has been updated keeping its original charm. It sits on top of a small wooded hill with large white pines and balsam trees. The cabin is not lakefront but is close enough to the lake to HEAR THE LOONS and ideally located right in the Heart of the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to many launch access sites and just a 5 min walk to the sandy shore of Lake Clear for a swim. Open beam ceilings, kitchenette with beautiful birch bark cabinets, antique canoe shelf, snowshoe lamps, Adirondack chairs and local artwork all complement the cabin well. The cabin has one bedroom with a king log bed, small living room area, kitchenette, bathroom with shower and two screened in porches with tables to eat or relax with your favorite book!

The owners also live on the property and are on hand if needed for information and recommendations on favorite hikes, paddling, fishing, restaurants, swim spots, etc. There are local hiking guidebooks and area paddling maps in the cabin for guests to use.

The cabin has a 2 burner gas cook top, compact refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee-maker and all dishes, pots & pans. There is an indoor gas fireplace, outdoor campfire area and Propane Grill for BBQ. Pure 300' deep filtered well water-NO NEED TO BRING BOTTLED WATER! There is no cable or internet, but the cabin does have a small TV/VCR to play movies (a good variety of movies are in the cabin), IDOC with radio and alarm. Cell Phone service works best with Verizon, in nearby Saranac Lake the library, coffee shops, mcdonalds all have free wifi. Campwood for sale nearby. Boat rentals nearby.
PLEASE NOTE: We only rent by the week, Saturday-Saturday in July & August. Other months are a 3 night min.

The perfect, affordable Adirondack getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is a perfect mix of rustic and comfort. We were the last guests of the season in October but the gas stove fireplace kept the whole cabin warm and toasty (lounging in front of it was my favorite activity). We also cooked breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed the fire pit out back. The location was a great home base for trips into Saranac Lake and the St. Regis Canoe area. Shawn was a great communicator from start to finish and stopped by to introduce herself during our stay. We love this place and hope to return!

the area is insanely gorgeous, the middle of one of America's great tracks of public land. Shawn's place is everything you'd want in a modest sized completely authentic ADK cottage. She has a comprehensive list of recommended hikes, places to put in to paddle, only a couple of which we could take advantage of over 5 (quite rainy) days. ALSO: Lake Saranac is about 15 mins away. Absolutely loved several great meals there (go treat yourself to Fiddlenecks, a relatively new fine dining spot). And Lake Placid is just about another 8 miles down the road, with Whiteface (one of the gorgeous ADK peaks) looming nearby. So: wilderness hikes and canoeing, check. Civilization, good food, shopping, a very short drive, check. Can we move here now? The drive up was flawless, a fine note upon entry (and a nice bottle of Finger Lakes Reisling!), and as noted, a comprehensive recommendation of stuff to do. We will be back. Thank you Shawn!

Thank you for your review Clark and glad you enjoyed the area and the cottage/cabin. The restaurant in Saranac Lake is call 'Fiddleheads', it is right across the street from the Left Bank Cafe which is good too (french cuisine in the Adirondacks!)

The cabin is as shown in the photographs, it is exactly what we wanted. We did not get to meet the responsive, via text/email owner nor did we have any issues. The owner has a great selection of resource materials for trail hike/paddle/places to visit. I will say while the cabin is set back from the road, occasional road noise from trucks was present in the early am and dinner hr. while we were there. We did hear loons from the cabin. It is a pretty short walk to a nice little swim spot. The location was nice being away from town but just a short drive in. Overall a great experience.

We arrived later than expected at the Lodge. Shawn already tried to contact us. As we arrived Shawn came to welcome us and showed us around the lodge with which we fell in love with immediately. There was a warm welcome and even a carved pumpkin (almost halloween). Shawn told us all about the area; about walks & hikes and canoeing as well as tips for food and breweries. Location is very central, only about 15 minutes from Saranac Lake and half an hour from Lake Placid. We took the Essex-Charlotte Ferry and the drive up there was absolutely beautiful. The cottage is very nice and the kitchen is wel equipped. Allthough the cabin is original and has this cosy-nostalgic feel, it has all the facilities you (we) wish. There is drinking water from the tap, heating, a gasbarbeque and also a nice big comfy bed. One little thing (which didn't bother us) there is a little hole in the bathroom wall with the livingroom so the heat can come into the bathroom which actually works very well. But if it's your first romantic trip together and your not very comfortable together yet... The surroundings are absolutely amazing, the Adirondacks are awesome, it is so beautiful and there is so much to see and do around here. We could have stayed for a further two weeks easily and are a bit saddened that we couldn't. Love to come back! We can recommend everyone to stay at this lodge! Shawn thanks very much for your recommendations and personal instructions :-).

The location is great -- so quiet and pretty. We arrived late in the night and it was wonderful to wake up to such beauty and yet to be so close to two busy towns -- Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. The bed is large and so cozy, and the gas fireplace heats up the cabin quite comfortably. Our stay at this cabin was easy, restorative, and comfortable, and Shawn was accommodating and helpful in preparation for the visit. The maps and guides provided in the cabin were useful in narrowing down our hiking plans since there was no internet. Thank you!

What a charming, cozy little cabin! We had a lovely stay. Shawn greeted us shortly after we arrived and told us about area hikes we might enjoy. She also gave us a tour of her studio workshop, where she creates beautiful Adirondack style art pieces out of wood. We hiked Scarface Mountain -- a meandering walk through the forest until the last mile -- and drove into Lake Placid for a post hike brew at Lake Placid Pub & Brewery. We wrapped up our stay with a quick walk across the road to watch the sunset on Lake Clear, and relaxed in front of the fire pit at cabin. Really cozy & clean escape with plenty of privacy.

Shawn was a very attentive host and always communicated promptly with everything we needed to know. When the coffee pot wasn't working, she replaced it in a heartbeat. The cabin provided an authentic ADK experience and the location was great. Access to water not quite as simple as expected but once we got the hang of it, it was fine. Great value for the price.
