Plenty of windows and light in your bedroom, but the curtains are very thick and make the room dark during daylight hours if that is your desire.Your bedroom has its own TV with DVD and Netflix Streaming Service.

Description

A quiet and private room with your own private bath in a spectacular historically registered "storybook style" house. Secluded second floor. Lots of privacy. Ample on-site parking. Close to Hollywood, downtown LA, Occidental College. Views abound from both inside and the large garden. You will have access to the kitchen just as there are many great places outside to enjoy. Breakfast (coffee/tea/juice, yogurt, cereal/muesli) included. The movie “Good Will Hunting” was written in this home!

Here's what makes our place special: 1) The unique architect-designed house and garden! Search "Egasse" in Atlas Obscura. 2) Your own spacious bath with new towels and luxury toiletries. 3) You have the entire second floor essentially to yourself. 4) Luxury breakfast. 5) No prying eyes ANYWHERE. 6) Plenty of on-site parking.

Details: You will be staying on the second floor of a famous, historically registered house. The room has four windows on three sides with great light. The bed is an antique art-deco style wooden bed with modern new mattress. You can open several windows for plenty of fresh air (or use the heater/a/c unit). Your room is only a few steps from your own private bathroom with your own toilet, sink and shower. We stock the bathroom with plenty of soap, shampoo, conditioner and toilet paper. You have your own large closet and some space in a cabinet.

This is a historic house from 1923 where film stars and local entrepreneurs have lived. The architect grew up in Paris and the original owners were of Austrian heritage. They wanted something that reminded them of Europe. The pictures speak for themselves, but reality is better. The house is locally known as the "Good Will Hunting House" due to the now famous authors/actors who worked on their manuscript while staying here. The house could easily be a destination in itself!

We offer a welcome drink of wine (please do not drink and drive) or a nice beer. A granola/cereal or toast breakfast with coffee or juice is also included each morning so you can start your day fresh and ready to go.

You have your own whisper-quiet air-conditioning and heating system with your own controls and thermostat. There is one comfortable chair in the room as well and use of the closet.

Your room has its own 32" HD LCD TV/DVD with Netflix streaming services. We cut the cable in Spring 2016, but our TV antenna does pick up many stations, but sometimes loses signal behind a hill.

There are plenty of spots in the large garden (1/2 acre) where you can relax or get work done without anyone bothering you. Your room has a lot of windows that make it feel like you are living in the trees, yet you have a fantastic view.

We sleep on the ground floor, so besides the home office next to your room, you have the entire floor to yourself(elves).

We have a coffee machine, teapot, pots, pans, plates, glasses and silverware that you can use. You have access to the kitchen that you can use with food that you bring or for cooking, if you wish (as long as you clean up after yourselves). Please air out the kitchen after use. We love cooking, so the kitchen is very well equipped. If you stay more than three nights, you will get a shelf in the refrigerator, but please seal items from possible smells.

Access to 1/2 acre garden with upscale garden furniture in sunny and shady locations both. No prying eyes. We have a charcoal bar-b-que that you can use (please see us about it first).

Unthrottled WiFi access connected to Spectrum high-speed Internet is included.

We live in the house on the first floor, but respect your privacy and peace. We can help with planning your trip, etc. if you want us to or leave you alone if you prefer that. We'd love to give you a quick tour and history of the house if you feel like that, but otherwise, just take it in as much or as little as you wish. We are very quiet.

The house is on Hill Drive, which is often considered the best street and neighborhood in Eagle Rock. It is a curvy residential street that follows the contour of the hillside, and has many very upscale houses along its 2 mile length. Many people enjoy walking in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is a favorite of film crews, and you might see a commercial or movie being made nearby. Eagle Rock is very LGBT friendly. We have many quality restaurants, microbreweries, wine bars, and cafes within very easy walking distance. Free parking in our neighborhood and on most Eagle Rock streets. Eagle Rock is like a town inside the city. It was in fact its own city from 1911 until 1923 when the residents voted to become part of the City of Los Angeles. The small town atmosphere remains. Occidental College is nearby and has many cultural events, especially during the school year.

Via public transportation, the Metro Bus system has buses running along Colorado Blvd, which is about a 5 minute walk from the house. Use Metro Rapid line 780 or Local lines 180, 181 to get to Hollywood or nearby Pasadena without changing buses. Use Local line 28 to get to the Metro Gold Line and Downtown LA. The fare is only $1.75. A new local train just started service to Santa Monica from downtown Los Angeles, but be aware that Los Angeles is HUGE, so any type of transportation takes time here.

Via private vehicle, we are close to the CA-134, CA-2 and I-210 freeways. I-5 is not far away either. There is plenty of parking along our street in front of our house or in our driveway. The neighborhood is safe, but please use normal caution and common sense.

We are LGBT friendly, and so is the neighborhood.

We will gladly have your children aged 15 or older stay either just with you or on a high-quality, modern air mattress (automatic pump, tall) in a nice studio room upstairs next to yours. The house and property is 'dangerous' to small children because of many steps, rough open railings, etc. For this reason, sorry, no small children - no exceptions.

Laundry can be done for stays of more than one night. The only dryer we have is the clothes line in the back yard.

Règlement intérieur
Non fumeur
Ne convient pas aux animaux
Pas de fête ni de soirée

L'heure d'entrée dans les lieux est 13:00 - 02:00 (jour suivant).

Above all: Please make sure that the doors to the outside are closed all the way and locked when you leave! It's a very nice and exclusive neighborhood, but it is still unsettling to come home to doors standing open and/or being unlocked! Please make really sure that the front door is CLOSED ALL THE WAY and locked when you leave. This only takes seconds. The front door lock needs to "click" into place - just check that it does not open once you have locked it, then it's locked.

Close the driveway gate after entering and exiting. When you check in, you'll get the automatic gate opener.

Please use coasters for your hot and cold drinks as we have a lot of wood furniture.

Use the air conditioner/heater in your room as much as you want. All we ask is that you please turn the a/c off when not in the room. Your room also has multiple windows for easy cooling most times of the year.

Please do not dry out wet clothes and towels on our furniture and/or doors! We have a lot of old, historical wood that is not easily replaced. Please use the ample space on the drying racks in the bathroom, or on the outdoor clothesline.

No children younger than 10 or pets.

No parties.
