The apartment is situated in a really convenient location and there are many restaurants, eateries as well as a supermarket within the vicinity. Staying in the old alleys will allow one to explore the lovely neighborhood and experience first hand the local lifestyle. Currently a slight inconvenience is that the neighborhood is going through renovation and hence the alleys are quite messy and difficult to navigate through esp. if you have big luggages. But I assume this will all be done within this year (2015).
Jane the owner is very responsive and I had a relatively smooth "check in" to the apartment at the agreed time.
The apartment itself is very comfortable and well furnished. There is wifi so no issues with connecting to the world outside! They even have a microwave as well as oven and kitchen utensils should you wish to use the pantry. Bath towels and hand towels are also provided, with basic bath essentials. One thing to note is to check when you arrive at the apartment is the water heater as it was broken during my stay. Quite a hassle as it is winter time so I literally have to boil water and use that as a solution to wash up. The owner (Jane) has been informed and has been very apologetic. She has agreed to solve the problem before the next guest comes along. So just check in the event you decided to take it up.
But overall, I would say the apartment was wonderful and most likely to stay there again should I be traveling to Shanghai again!
