Le logement

It’s a pleasant walk from here to the town square. The Historic Center extends well beyond the square and there are lots of things to see and do (and eat) along the way. There are bus stops nearby and yellow taxis everywhere.

Friendly cat (Carmen) dog (Guapo) and wi-fi are included in your booking as are: Your own private bathroom. Clean, safe, drinking water from every tap. Great lighting. American plumbing. Fluffy towels. Plenty of mirrors and an English-speaking hostess who is happy to provide local insight and information if and when you need it.

We are a ukulele friendly household and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Le quartier

The neighborhood is just close enough to what's happening to be central and just far enough away from the action to provide a respite once you come home.

The house is three blocks from one of the most charming streets in Oaxaca and a pleasant ten minute walk from the Andador Turistico (Pedestrian Walkway) that's a must-see for anyone's first trip to Oaxaca.

Taxis abound in Oaxaca and can be hailed on the street. They are usually safe, clean and inexpensive.

KT's home is beautiful, colorful with local arts and crafts throughout. It is very clean and comfortable. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom which helps with the warm nights. We enjoyed the second floor terrace for reading, coffee, a breeze, a view to the mountains and life on the street. It was a treat for us that there is both a dog and a cat in the home. They are friendly and well behaved, enjoying attention when offered but not seeking us out. It was an easy walk to restaurants, shops and plazas. I would highly recommend a stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay with K.T. The house is very beautiful, clean, and comfortable. K.T. provided us with directions from the airport and gave us a thorough orientation to the house when we arrived. Guapo welcomed us as well and was friendly and sweet throughout our stay. There were other guests staying with K.T. at the time, but the house was always quiet. The WiFi was strong, the bedroom was comfortable, and the bathroom had all the necessities. K.T's neighborhood is also quiet and removed from the city center, which was good since we were visiting during Day of the Dead, when festivities can go on all night! We still heard some noise from the street from the celebrations, but I suspect normally the place is quieter. Her place is just a 15 minute walk from many great restaurants and sites. Her neighborhood is secluded but felt safe enough to walk around at night.

KT was there with a friendly welcome when we arrived. She had very clear guidelines and logistics about staying in her home, both written and verbal. There was information provided about things to do in the city of Oaxaca. Her home was beautiful and impeccable. We had a comfortable bed and private bath with a large shower. There was a second floor outdoor terrace to enjoy close to our bedroom. The home is located up a hill so there was a view of large blooming trees, the city and mountains. We felt perfectly safe in the neighborhood and it was a pleasant walking distance from interesting things to do. Buses, taxis and collectivos were quite accessible for destinations further than we wanted to walk. We appreciated the mix of friendly interaction and a respect for our privacy. We felt tended to. There was a lovely cup and saucer set out each morning, with coffee and tea ready to be made fresh for us with the flick of a button. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat! Thank you, KT!!

We had a wonderful time in Oaxaca and K.T. was a wonderful host! The room and house were exactly as she described - elegant, clean, comfortable bed and a great shower. K.T. also gave us a map and a number of recommendations including for restaurants, and all those we tried were very good. K.T. was also happy to help with our other queries (including booking a taxi to the bus station) and had a pot of coffee ready for us every morning. Warmly recommended!

Charming hostess with a beautifully decorated and very clean home. KT provided excellent recommendations for eating, shopping, sightseeing, and exploring. We enjoyed going for morning walks up the hill just above her house, and her home is also within close walking distance of the zocolo and the main city center. Sweet dog and graceful cat were lovely additions as well.

I moved to Oaxaca from New York City in the winter of 2006 because a friend told me if I lived in Oaxaca, I’d never be bored---and was she ever right! Art openings, dance classes, film festivals, concerts, lunches and outings with friends to small towns in the mountains, or breathtaking pine forests, classes given and classes taken and the day to day things that make house holding a full-time job keep me happy and busy—and never, ever bored.

The Oaxaca I love is beautiful, safe and a treat for all five senses. I never leave the house without discovering something I’ve never seen before, so I encourage friends to come and discover the Oaxaca that makes them as happy as my Oaxaca makes me.
