This charming 1820 farmhouse at 64 River Rd., 18 miles north of Hanover, is a seasonal home that accommodates large groups in 7 bedrooms & 3 baths. Available June 7 - Oct. 19 for single or multiple families. The house is not suitable for weekend parties and does not have central heating.
Peaceful Valley Farm is located on the River Road along New Hampshire’s scenic river byway. The fully furnished 1820 historical Federal-style farmhouse has been the seasonal home of three generations of the Huntington family because it easily accommodates large groups: three bedrooms with double beds; two bedrooms with 2 single beds; one bedroom with 1 single bed; and a bunk room with 5 additional beds. There are three bathrooms located upstairs, two with showers. The large kitchen is heated by a converted wood-to-propane stove and one of the 2 living rooms has a working fireplace. Two refrigerators and a walk-in pantry with 3 sets of china and every possible piece of cookware make this gathering space functional. The covered porch adjacent to the kitchen has seating for 10-12 people and the expansive lawn is used for croquet, badminton, bocce and whiffle ball (all stored in the barn). Two charcoal grills and a gas grill make cooking outdoors possible. Although worn by the ages, this old house still exudes incredible charm and conviviality. However, it's location on a quiet road next to neighbors make it unsuitable for large groups partying all night and making noise. Absolutely no fireworks or smoking on the premises.

The property sits on 40 acres of farmland with a mile walk (or drive) through the fields to a swimming dock and boathouse on the Connecticut river. Biking, hiking, canoeing and other recreational activities start from the front door!
Échanges avec les voyageurs
The hosts do not live in the house but can be present (in the house or staying down the road) for guests in order to assist with the use of kitchen appliances and outdoor games stored in one of the barns and for guidance on all the amenities available in the Upper River Valley area, including where to go for wifi! The house does not have internet or television but cell phone service is excellent.
The house is not suitable for people with physical disabilities since bathrooms are located on the second floor.
The house can accommodate a wedding party if the guests want to secure all the amenities for an outdoor event, including a tent, caterer, generator and portable toilets. A special fee is negotiated for an event site, which requires contacting the host.
This is an old farmhouse that has to be treated respectfully. Windows do not have sash weights so require screens that have to be inserted and removed on arrival and departure. Use of one fireplace is given with permission and instructions and use of the propane cook stove can only take place with a host staying in the house. There is no dishwasher.
Please, no pets and no smoking in the house or on the porch. We expect only the number of guests (or fewer) that we agree to at the time of booking and the house is not suitable for events or large parties.
