My apartment is located in the city, next to a park, and 8-10 mins from the metro (walking).
1 shared bedroom and 1 bathroom are available to a mature and responsible female guest. The guest may share the room with either the host or the host and another approved guest. The rate is $730 a month with no security deposit. The shared room has 3 real beds. This bed is a bottom bunk twin bed.

The house is located in a residential city neighborhood in D.C., 11 minutes from the White House, and minutes from other city attractions like U Street, Adams Morgan, and is 8-10 minutes (walking) from the nearest metro train station (Shaw/Howard University metro station, using the "Howard University" side escalator exit).

The room and bathroom are very clean (I am very hygienic and will only consider guest who are as well!!***)

Pets are not are allowed, and an official government issued I.D. must be available (scanned or in person) at the least 1 day before the stay is commenced. Please make sure to see house rules.

Judy's place was exactly what I needed for my solo, sightseeing trip to D.C. She made clear the house rules immediately upon arrival, and was responsive throughout the trip when I had any questions or comments. It's walking distance from the Metro, which was very convenient for me, and a nice walk to some shops and restaurants in a hip spot of D.C. Sleeping accommodations were as expected, and I appreciated the designated closet and shelf space for me to organize my things. Overall, my stay with Judy was great and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling alone and on a budget!

I'm a pretty easygoing person, so at first, staying with Judy suited me fine. I was taken aback by the strictness of Judy's house rules. Any minor mistake upsets her to the point where she becomes passive-aggressive for the next few days. I respected her rules to the best of my ability, however, this was stressful and challenging. I didn't feel like I could relax "at home" after a hard day at my internship. I sincerely believe that Judy misrepresented her listing (she seems to have redacted her listing's description since the time I made my reservation back in August). She did choose the "shared" room description, however, in our initial correspondence, she implied that I would be sharing with her. She made absolutely no mention that I would share her bedroom with a third person while Judy herself slept in the living room. At the same time, Judy kept all of her own belongings in her room so the other guest and I had VERY minimal room to keep our things. We were uncomfortable and extremely cramped. For the amount that was charged, (~$800 plus $55 utilities per person) I am outraged that she is allowed to do this. All of these reasons are why I needed to cancel my reservation two months earlier than planned.

Hello Kassandra. First and foremost, thank you for your feedback. In response to your feedback about the house rules, in the "House Rules" section I am very specific in regards to what is expected from guests who are welcomed into my home. I am regretful that you found them onerous, and though in my opinion I do not think them to be a burden, I do try to very plainly state the expectations so that guests can make an educated and open decision as to whether my listing is the right one for them or not. I did appreciate your efforts to keep the house rules, and I thank you. I did have a couple of scares when I discovered the house filled with natural gas fumes upon arriving home one night to find out that the gas range had been left on, and also upon finding the front door unlocked on more than one occasion---however---it was never my intention or desire for you to feel any type of "passive aggression"; I only wanted to inform you of my observations to insure that they would not recur (I do take safety seriously). --Regarding the room being shared with another guest--I did not initially state that the 2-bed shared bedroom may be shared with another guest in the event that another guest decided to book, and I apologize for that. As you mentioned, I have since included that in my description. --Regarding the room still holding some of my household belongings--I did represent the room as clearly and honestly as possible--including various angles of photographs of the room which rather clearly show that my book case, desk, chair and lamp are still in the room. The bookcase naturally has some books and items on it, yet extra empty shelves were left open to accommodate any items guests may want to place on them during their stay. --And regarding your early checkout-- I really do wish that I had been made aware of these issues as I would have clarified and/or resolved them promptly; I was only given 48 hours of notice from you that you would be canceling because you (as you verbally informed me) had 'decided to secure other accommodations due to family members visiting you from California'. While I can sincerely say I wish you had openly communicated your concerns during your stay--thank you for the feedback.

Judy is a good host! Neighborhood is louder than I expected, but I was there during the 4th of July too. Great accomodations for the price listed. I would stay there again.

I stayed a Judy's for a week whilst visiting DC for a workshop on a limited budget and her place for £15 a night met my expectations :) I shared the room with one other person who was already there - they had the double bed, I had the air bed. Judy is a lovely host, delightful conversation, there is a fully equipped kitchen (even blender - made my juices to carry around with me), clean and constant hot water in the bathroom, comfy high air bed with clean sheets, comfortable sitting room and clean and quiet and secure environment. There are two exits to the metro station 'Shaw U' and if you take the 'Howard University' exit it is the 'nicer' one (I felt safer walking back that way late at night) and a short walk to hers via 'T' street. There is also the G2 bus (along that route) which takes you all the way to Dupont Circle not far away. The closest supermarket is about 20mins walk away but close to the metro Station (handy to use on your way home) and is called 'Giant Food' on the corner of 7th/0 street ;) I took the 5A bus from Dulles international airport ($6 one way) to 'L'enfant Plaza' and that was a straight line up on the 'Green/Yellow' metro line to Judy's. And getting into central DC takes about half an hour door to door. The metro is super cheap and you can use the 'SmarTrip' card ($2 extra to purchase but you can top it up as and when you need and it works out cheaper then the card tickets which all cost $1 extra per use) on both the metro and the buses (including the 5A bus). So for me all in all this was wonderful, I saved a hell of a lot of money being able to make my own food but didn't have the usual noise/cleanliness isssues of a hostel. Thanks Judy ;)

Hello, I'm Judy. I'm a young professional living and working in D.C. I keep a clean house and a peaceful atmosphere. International and local visitors are welcome.
A little about me: I tend to be very quiet and introvert. I like to read, work & play on my laptop, keep in-touch with the entrepreneurial scene, and explore the city randomly (or planned). I also enjoy watching Downton Abbey online and pretty much relaxing otherwise. Safe travels and see you soon! Ciao ;)
