Le logement

Our home has been maintained in modern but comfortable simplicity, with a full interior renovation in 2009. Friends have described its clean architecture nestled in one of Philadelphia’s homiest neighborhoods as “the unicorn” – an “old” home now showcasing modern fixtures and uncluttered lines. This air-conditioned oasis boasts a comfy “man-room” with flatscreen and ample couches; a billowy and elegant second-floor master bedroom with marble bath tiling and dual shower heads, and two luminous bedrooms with Mt. Airy views on the top floor. The space will feel equally welcoming for a couple enjoying Philadelphia together, or for an entire family.

The back porch is a daily dining spot in the summer months. (Mega-grill and cornhole gaming access are provided upon request.)

FIRST FLOOR
Kitchen/Dining: at far end of first floor open-floor plan, with easy back porch table access. Natural teak dining table makes for a dramatic eating experience. Kitchen has center granite island, with modern stainless steel finish appliances and a gas stove/microwave. The space also features a pocket-doored powder room.

Lounge/Living Area: a favorite comfy couch for afternoon reading or small gatherings.
Front Porch: Adirondack chairs and benches enable you to survey the neighborhood comings and goings while enjoying a cool drink.
Back Porch: Dining space for six people, with a large grill and easy kitchen access.

TV ROOM (Finished Basement)
Wide open, flat-screen viewing area with modern but un-fussy couch seating. Stays naturally cool in summer -- a perfect movie watching space after a long day.
SECOND FLOOR
Master Bedroom/Bath: this whisper-blue walled open space is decorated with natural-finished woods. The California King size master bed has been in-law approved as “one of the most comfortable beds ever”! The attached master bath provides luxurious privacy from the rest of the house, with cool marble flooring and sink, a double vanity, and a dual-head shower. Walk-in closet.
Guest Bedroom (and bath): This room has queen bed. The room overlooks W. Sedgwick street and has lovely natural light. The adjoining bathroom has modern fixtures, marble flooring, a shower/bath and single sink.

THIRD FLOOR
Bedroom 1: Large room with full bed and a gorgeous view of Mt. Airy treetops (and sometimes even a glimpse of downtown). Adjoining white-tile bath and shower.
Bedroom 2: Bunk beds are perfect for two guests. Modern furnishings and ample closet space.

Guests will be provided 2 sets of keys for private entrance upon arrival either by a greeter or stored in a lock-box.

The house will be yours to enjoy and the owners will be available by phone and email if any concerns arise. A book of local eateries, travel info, and neighborhood info is provided.

Le quartier

One of Philadelphia’s greenest neighborhoods, with two-block access to Hi-Point cafe, Blue Marble Books, Weaver’s Way organic food co-op, and Carpenter Woods! With walking access to the extensive urban forest trails of the Wissahickon, you can enjoy hiking, biking, birding and fishing throughout the summer.

For museum, restaurant and historic visits, the nearest train stop is a mere six block walk. You can be downtown in 20 minutes or less! In the neighborhood, ample street parking also enables you to travel conveniently by car. You’ll want to visit all the local shopping, dining and historic spots in the surrounding neighborhoods of Chestnut Hill and Manyunk as well. If you are bike-inclined, all of these excursions can be accomplished with easy two-wheel access to Forbidden Drive and Kelly Drive.

Because of conscious attention to construction to accommodates a wide spectrum of people and backgrounds, Mt. Airy was one of the earliest integrated neighborhoods in the U.S. It has retained this spirit of close-knit inclusiveness, with a flair for all things green. “Village” festivals abound throughout the summer, celebrating everything local and delicious. Indian food, pizza, an upcycled furniture store, acupuncture, yoga studios, and historic residences are all within a few walking blocks.

Transports

Drive to Philadelphia takes 20-30 minutes. Street parking is available and easy.

Train into Center City Philadelphia is a 8 min walk and is about 20 minute ride. Buses are located within 5 minutes.

Walk to the Mt. Airy Village with a cafe and food shopping.

Hat alles Prima geklappt! Preston war zu jeder Zeit erreichbar! Das Haus super geräumig, toll gelegen! Ruhige Gegend und nicht weit weg vom Schuss! Es hat uns sehr gefallen. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder

My family stayed here while attending a wedding in the area and had a very pleasant experience. The house was great -- clean, comfortable and in a nice neighborhood, with lots of cool artwork and a nice backyard patio. Preston was there to meet us and was very easy to work with.

The house was beautiful. Preston met us at the house and gave us a tour. The accommodations were wonderful. Open plan home with a finished basement. Coffee pot with cups and note were awaiting us in the morning. The house is in an excellent location: by Carpenter's Woods, the friendly coffee shop, and Weaver's Way. They have a cat named Meeko who my daughter adored.
