Description
Description

A 100 year old Woodstock artist house, full of books and paintings. Less than 1/2 mile from the center of town on a quiet road only 200 yards from Woodstock's best swimming hole. Sunny lawns and stone patio. Ideal as a place to stay without a car.

An airy bedroom with mountain views; a yoga room; a writer's living room lined with books, wood-beamed ceiling; an elegant dining room; an eat-in kitchen; and enough space outside to sunbathe, play badminton, or just laze around the grill.

Attached to the main house — my year-round home for nearly twenty years — is a small 1950's apartment with a separate entrance where I sometimes stay. This in no way interferes with guests, who have otherwise complete and exclusive use of the main house and grounds.

Happy to meet you at the house if you let me know your approximate arrival time — or at the Woodstock bus stop if you don't come by car. I usually go to the city at weekends but sometimes stay in the attached apartment when the house is rented. I look forward to meeting my guests, but it's your call if you prefer complete privacy. However, I'm always available 24/7 by phone.

A copy of the current 'Woodstock Times' newspaper will provide a complete listing of area events (cinema, theatre, art galleries, openings, fleamarkets, concerts, restaurants, etc.) — there's always a lot happening.
Swim in the Sawkill just yards away, shop to death, hike Overlook Mountain, explore the Ashokan reservoir, or visit the Tibetan Monstery or Zen center. Plus, the Omega Institute is just across the river in upscale Rhinebeck.

Several local taxi services (listed in the Woodstock Times). Trailways has buses from the center of town to New York. Amtrac runs up the other side of the Hudson to Rhinecliffe, and then a cab to get to Woodstock.

Fully tiled bathroom with classic cast iron tub (and hand shower), modern vanity, and wide countertop.
Please ask if you have special requests, we'll try to accommodate....

I've lived in Woodstock since the Festival days (I played with many of the great bands including Van Morrison, the Muldaurs, and Full Tilt Boogie). Now I'm primarily an author and illustrator — feel free to check me out on Amazon and my website:
I love hosting interesting people and enjoy Airbnb-ing myself when travelling for for tango.
