Description

Beautifully interior designed apartment in Central Lisbon (Principe Real neighborhood) with a large south facing patio. Here you can have meals al fresco accompanied by bird song or just relax on the loungers by the fountain under the jasmine.
Very quiet, yet very central. Normally three days minimum stay but you can exceptionally book just two days. This month you can book just the 20 th and the 21st of March!!

Very quiet apartment and yet 5 minutes away from the bustle of Bairro Alto where a very lively night life goes on until dawn.
Restaurants, cafés, grocery shops, supermarkets, and other utility shops are all very near the apartment, a few yards away, as it is located in an old quarter of town: Príncipe Real. It is today one of the most 'in' locations to live in because it is central, because it has a lot of character, a lovely public garden (moments away from the apartment) and the most exciting and avant garde boutiques and gourmet shops.
The river is a 10 minutes' walk away as well as the busy and exciting city centre ...and you walk downhill to get there, which is a bonus!
There are plenty of buses round the corner that will take you everywhere, although you can walk to most 'must see' locations.
The Lisbon Botanical Garden is minutes away and so is one of the best views of the city: Jardim S. Pedro de Alcântara belvedere.
There is a most interesting bar not to miss - also very near - called Pavilhão Chinês (Chinese Pavilion). It is an extraordinary place where you can have any drink (even tea) but there is nothing chinese about it besides the name. You'll see room after room decorated in the most interesting fashion, it is indeed a unique place, unmissable. It is located at Rua D. Pedro V, 68.
I could go on for a long time but instead, not to tire you out, I'll leave you plenty of information in a file in the apartment and also the latest edition of 'Time Out For Visitors' , which is a most useful publication and a Lonely Planet guide to Lisbon. Prices vary, please see calendar.

Guests will have access to the whole apartment and patio, which is for the sole use of the apartment guests.

I am always available to help with whatever you may need. I'll also be pleased to book taxis, restaurants, hairdressers, whatever you may want help with. And of course I am the one who checks you in, shows you round the apartment, goes through the information file with you and answers all questions you may have.

Príncipe Real, which means Royal Prince (in honour of one of the sons of Queen Maria II, who lived in the 19th century) is a lovely and mixed neighbourhood. There are palaces and more modest buildings and Guterres, the Portuguese present Head of the European Union has his Portuguese home in this neighbourhood, five minutes away from the 'Secret Haven' as do film makers, architects, lawyers, doctors, cleaners, plumbers, cooks - in short - people from all walks of life. This is the charm of Lisbon old quarters - they are friendly neighbourhoods and real melting pots.

The most comfortable way to get from the airport to the apartment is by taxi and the price is quite modest. It must be displayed on the taxi meter and the taxi driver is not allowed to remove the figures before one actually pays. You'll see two sets of figures on the meter: the price of the journey and the price for the luggage. The price of the journey will be about €12 if the traffic is flowing normally. For ALL the luggage the price is €1.60 only. It is NOT per piece of luggage, it's for ALL pieces of luggage. You add the two figures and you get the price to be paid. One does not pay more than the meter shows, except if we wish to give a tip and an appropriate tip is €1.
If a taxi driver tries to overcharge please do not let him. I'll be at the apartment waiting for you and I'll sort out any doubts but this will have to be BEFORE you pay. The taxi driver has to keep the meter on until you pay. If you like - in case you think the taxi driver is not being honest just tell him that I am the one who will pay and I'll do it - you can pay me later in the apartment. I believe this is the easiest way to deal with it if you get a dishonest driver - it does sometimes happen unfortunately!
Now - how to get to the apartment if you come by taxi: airport - Marquês de Pombal - Rua da Escola Politécnica - Rua do Século. You go down Rua do Século and Rua Eduardo Coelho is the second on your right. I'll now write the directions in Portuguese for you to print and give to the driver, so that he knows exactly where to take you:

Senhor Taxista,
Por favor leve estes senhores para a Rua Eduardo Coelho, nº47, pelo percurso seguinte: aeroporto - Av. da República - Fontes Pereira de Melo, Marquês de Pombal, Rua da Escola Politécnica - Rua do Século. Desce a Rua do Século e a Rua Eduardo Coelho é a segunda à direita.
Muito obrigada.

The apartment is very well equipped:
sheets, blankets, duvets (of course you'll find the beds made), towels in the bathroom, a towel + teacloths in the kitchen.
The kitchen has a hob, a fridge, a microwave, an oven,a dishwasher, a kettle, a coffee machine, a sandwich maker, a toaster and a blender. Also dishes, glasses, cutlery, cooking pans and frying pans.
There are all kinds of toiletries in the bathroom and also scales.
Also available if applicable: a baby chair, a baby bed, a baby bath, baby towels and baby sheets, a baby pillow and duvet.

I'm an interior designer who loves her job and I'm also a host who loves meeting new people and try and make their stay in Lisbon memorable.
I love being with my cats, reading, learning new things, going to lectures on Portuguese history and art and walking about this marvelous city, where I have been living for 8 years and I absolutely love.
