Great location, central and vibrant neighbourhood. Pretty sunny house, funky, diverse neighbourhood in walking distance of the historical neighbourhoods of Mouraria, Alfama, Baixa (10m, Chiado,Bairro Alto(15m). Metro, bus, tram. Bright, spacious bedroom (20sqm), 2 windows and 2 balcony doors, long French balcony with space to sit and with a view to Lisbon Castle; comfortable, tall double bed, desk, 2 tall bookcases filled with books you can borrow (in English). 2 shared bathrooms. 2 small cats.

Great value, central and fun neighborhood. The perfect starting point for many pleasant walks around the heart of Lisbon: 10-15 minutes uphill you find scenic *Senhora do Monte* and *Graça* viewpoints. In the same 10 minutes you find yourself in the lively and picturesque neighbourhoods of old Lisbon: Mouraria, Alfama, Martim Moniz, Rossio, Chiado, Baixa,Praça do Comércio, Bairro Alto, Cais do Sodré, Santa Catarina, Avenida da Liberdade, etc.

A sunny and cozy old-style house flooded with light all day, spacious. Trending neighbourhood, very central.
Easygoing, pleasant international atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Cool vibe.

BEDROOM (20 sq m) includes: long balcony with a view to Lisbon castle, sunny in the mornings; comfortable, high double bed with large bedstead and pillows; 2 spacious, tall closets; workstation and chair; bed linen and towels; shower gel and shampoo; paper bin; umbrella; fan; gas heater and electrical heater; bedside lamp; 2 electricity extensions (and universal adaptor if necessary). Feel free to borrow books from the two book stands in the room.

White furniture, bright room; it can also be made totally dark by pulling down the blinds.

HOUSE: A pretty, spacious, sunny and cozy house, wooden floors, 3.7 m-high ceilings. Sweet 1920s building fully refurbished in the early 2000s (and façade freshly painted in late 2014). Other windows in the house also have views to Lisbon Castle.

Located between a long, quiet street (with free parking) and a busy main avenue, within walkable distance to the centre (Baixa approx. 10 minutes, Chiado/Bairro Alto. 15-20 minutes).

Double-glazed windows minimise street noise (we are at the heart of the city, and bear in mind Lisbon is a noisy city). I favour guests who are city dwellers themselves.

All modern conveniences in fully-equipped, bright, spacious kitchen. Paper, plastic and glass recycled.

Pretty large bathroom with bath and small one with shower (one on each side of the apartment, separated by door).

OTHER FEATURES: High-speed wifi. The house has a total surface of 132 square metres and can conveniently be divided into two approx. 65-sqm 2- bedroom apartments by a door when greater quiet is needed on either side(URL HIDDEN)First floor (no lift).
• Fun temperament but quiet lifestyle; easygoing, pleasant international atmosphere. Loud noise is avoided; working, relaxing and resting environment. Privacy and quiet valued and respected = a fun house, but not a party house. Especially as great daytime fun and nightlife are available within 1 to 15 minutes of the house :)

•The house has 4 bedrooms in total and there may be other guests staying.

Guests must be animal loving or tolerant: two small, friendly cats live here. They are sociable, but mostly sleep all day :) The level of interaction with them is entirely up to each guest.

Living room also with balcony [a door in this living room can be used to divide the apartment into two 65 sq metre spaces, for greater quiet and privacy on both sides, especially at night]; 2 bathrooms, one on each side of the house (both shared; one small with shower, one large with a bath and window); spacious and fully equipped kitchen; all modern conveniences in the house.

Interaction: Half of this is up to you, of course! :) And I'm absolutely ok with that. I'm easygoing and easy to talk to, a seasoned traveller who appreciates that each guest has different needs and wishes in this regard. I may also at times be busy, or away, depending on the week. There may be other AirBnB guests on the other side of the house. Ideally I would like to welcome you in person to the house, and am very happy to share tips about the city and neighbourhood. I love the city very much (I am not from here originally, and always see it with fresh eyes), and for many years half of my life has been international (work, much travel, and half of my friends). At any rate, when away at work I am easily reachable if you have any queries, by text, chat or video.

After a long spell of socioeconomic decline and urban neglect, the neighbourhood has undergone intensive rehabilitation and refurbishment since 2011; and is at this point at the brink of gentrification.
The picturesque and lively Largo do Intendente has turned into one of Lisboa's (and hipsters'!) favourite hang out places, a spacious and chill alternative to the fun but exhausting and sometimes crowded Bairro Alto. This charming square is now surrounded by nice cafés, bistros, and restaurants; cultural associations promoting music, visual and performance arts and innovative urban and social projects - do NOT miss out on funky Casa Independente, right in the middle of the square (a discrete green door with the number 1863 above], my special favourite - and international hostels. Pleasant, relaxed, artistic vibe, very popular with both locals and internationals.

Great little restaurants around, Portuguese and international, with tasty meals at low prices; also cafés and pâtisseries, some baking their own bread and cakes.

Supermarkets, grocery, small convenience shops within a few minutes from the house.

Very central, within walkable distance from many Lisbon highlights.

The house is located opposite Lisbon City Hall current facilities, "A Vida Portuguesa" vintage portugalia shop, and several traditional/international restaurants and hostels. Lisbon metro is 1-2 minutes away, easy connections to everywhere in town. 5 minute walk: post office, hospital, police station.
• Shops (for all sorts), restaurants, cafés, bistros, convenience shops and supermarkets (Minipreço, Lidl, Pingo Doce) nearby, some open from 8 am 9 pm and 11 pm everyday. Walkable distance to Rossio/ Baixa (approx. 10 m) and to Chiado (approx. 15 m). Transport: metro station (Intendente, on the green line); Lisbon classic trams 28 and 28E (Lisbon-Castle- Downtown-Estrela). Buses to and from airport and other destinations. All 1-minute walk away.
Also: free parking (long and wide back street) - perhaps a coin of 50 cents to a local "arrumador" (car parker) who will help you find a spot, park, and will watch your car (common all around Lisbon).

Rossio (train station to Sintra): 10 minute walk; 2 metro stations away.

Cais do Sodré: train station to get to the beaches on the Cascais line (for example, Carcavelos beach) : 20-25 m walk or 4 metro stations away (10 m ride). Trains take under 30 minutes to get to the beaches.

Intendente is one of the most culturally buzzing, international, and ethnically diverse areas of Lisbon (alongside the nearby Martim Moniz and Mouraria).
Recently transformed into a lively and trending neighbourhood, with a young and international crowd, Intendente is an award winning, ongoing and mindful urban rehabilitation project, which has closely engaged the municipality and the local community. Please take note you will likely still witness scenes related to Intendente's difficult social past (it used to be a small red light district); but it is as safe an area as any in the city, both for residents and passersby. “Arrumadores" (“car parkers," seen around Lisbon centre) do not harass passersby in any way - they are just out to collect a 50 cent coin from drivers whom they help find parking spots on the street.

I do not mention this *at all* on grounds of safety, but only for eventual unsightliness, so you know what you may encounter. I have lived here since 2007 and have never had any problems. I expect it should have no bearing on your experience; myself or any previous flat, mates or AirBnB guests have never had problems at all in the neighbourhood. Plus there is lot of beauty and fun to take in around this cool and funky place, only a short, picturesque walk from the epicentre of Lisbon, Baixa-Chiado.

Anywhere in Lisbon city centre common sense and the most elementary street wisdom should keep you out of trouble; it is in that way comparable to a city like Barcelona, for example.

Non fumeur

1. bear in mind that the house is quite central and this room faces a busy avenue; Lisbon is a noisy city and **I ask in advance that you kindly DO NOT choose to stay here in the first place if you are quite sensitive to traffic noise.** I do favour city dwellers who are used to the pace of capital cities.

2. kindly take off your shoes at the entrance, to keep dirt outside the house;

3. keep the common spaces you use clean and tidy (wipes are provided to make this easier, as well as broom and mop if necessary).

4. (*IMPORTANT*) kindly keep the kitchen door *closed* at any time you think anyone in the house might be resting, as this simple and considerate gesture reduces noise to a minimum if you are using it (breakfast, lunch, dinner, talking, cooking, etc.)

5. if using the phone or watching videos, also kindly keep your door closed and noise to a moderate level, so as not to disturb others. As you would do in your own home :) Louder noise will be heard by anyone in adjacent rooms, so please be considerate.

6. please DO NOT BANG the doors. Simple procedure: push or pull as relevant, *then* turn the door knob gently.

7. turn off domestic appliances when not using them (coffee machine, fan, heaters, lights, etc.

Flatsharing is different than staying at a hotel; please keep that difference in mind and choose wisely according to your travel needs :)
This is a lived-in space.

Paula is a great host with kindness. The room was very clean and big enough for two people. The house is very close to the metro station and located to the main city. There are also several nice restaurants and shops around the house. It was good experience to stay in the nice place with kind local people in Portugal!:)

My friend and I stayed at Paula's home for our long weekend trip in Lisbon. Paula was great, and made us feel perfectly at home and communicated everything we needed to know about her place. Her two cats were amazing company, and it's a great, open and chilled vibe as other visitors come to stay as well. Paula also provided some detailed local tips on walks, where to eat and drink! The room was large and sunny and had a great view of the castle. The location was amazing, walking distance to all the tourist attractions and a few minutes to the closest metro stop. Thank you so much Paula for welcoming us into your home, highly recommended!

Trevlig lägenhet i mycket bra läge. Paula är en förekommande värdinna so höll god kontakt och försökte ordna för oss trots att hon inte var på plats halva tiden. Skulle gärna återkomma och rekommendera detta boende till vänner.
