Description

A stone barn on our small farm in the south west of the Isle of Man, converted into a dedicated holiday cottage. Lovely views and great walking with shops, eating places and beaches within easy reach. Sleeps four and we also have a travel cot for babies.

Two bedrooms, bathroom and shower, open plan kitchen/living/dining room. Main bedroom opens onto balcony with stunning views over the Colby River valley to the sea - enjoy a morning cuppa or an evening glass of wine out there. Main bedroom is large with double bed, second bedroom is smaller with two singles. Please note second bedroom opens directly off the main bedroom.

Plenty of off-road parking and small private garden, lots of walks over open fields and hills with footpaths passing the door.

We live in the farmhouse nearby and are happy to help with anything you might need.

It has the most stunning views and is surrounded by beautiful walks and not too far from beaches at Port Erin, Gansey and Port St Mary, just a 5-10 minute drive away. There is a bus stop and Colby steam railway station about a mile away, at the bottom of our road, along with a pub and convenience store. Some good eating places in Port St Mary and Port Erin. And excellent trails and plantations for mountain biking. Oh and there are 26 official Dark Sky designated sites if you like stargazing.

Probably best to have a car but there is a bus stop about a mile down the road and also a station for the Isle of Man Steam Railway which runs to Douglas and Port Erin and stations in between. About ten minutes by car from the airport and half an hour from Douglas and Sea Terminal

May and June are probably the most beautiful times of year on the Isle of Man and also the times when we have lambs arriving, but there are lots of events, etc going on all the year round.

I feel like this property had its ups and downs. Floors, sheets and bath towels were clean. Bathroom needs some work, bathmat was covered in mold and the bathroom smelled moldy, there was some water damage under the bathtub. The second bedroom is on the small side and there's no doorknob on the door. It would be fine for kids but not for another couple or adult who wants some privacy. Walls are on the thin side, so you can hear your neighbors if they are loud but other than that it was quiet. The kitchen has a mini fridge but no freezer, it also didn't have oven mitts or a kitchen towel. Check in and check out we're very easy and Julie was usually quick to email back.

Thanks for the review Micah. First of all I think we do make it very clear on our pages that the second bedroom is small but we will definitely see about the door knob. Also replace the bathmat and I don't know what happened to the oven gloves there were definitely some there a few weeks ago! I would also point out the the fridge is a normal under-counter size, not a 'mini fridge' and there is a freezer for guests' use in the laundry room but guests rarely do.

Julie's cottage is modern, very well kept and has all the amenities you could need. Beautiful rural location but easy driving distance to all of the Isle of Man's attractions and sites. Highly recommended!

Lovely secluded cottage. Very quiet, clean home with oven, sofas, hot shower etc that made for a comfortable stay.

Enjoyed our short stay at Julie's place. In the country side. Cosy and warm

We came over to visit a friend on the island and had only a little trouble finding the cottage. Once you find the little church it is easy, though the entrance is not signposted directly, you find it! The adventure to find the cottage is well worth it when you watch your first sunrise over the hills! It's a gorgeous spot with footpaths to walk past dry stone walls and fields; looking up to beautiful farm houses dotted amongst the hills and down to the coast. The cottage is surrounded by working farms, so if you are the type to be offended by the occasional smells of farms or animal husbandry, then perhaps consider a property within a town. The cottage was tidy and warm which was very welcome on a chilly night. Julie had left us some milk and there were provisions for tea and coffee. All of the bedding was prepared and we did not run out of necessary provisions within the cottage. Julie offered use of the laundry which was welcome after spending the days horse riding. We had another family in the cottage next door, but we did not feel cramped or hampered. There was ample parking for both of our cars. The TV was modern enough for us to fit our HD box with kids movies - though there is a separate little DVD integrated TV if you wanted to bring a favourite movie. Though the 2nd bedroom was quite small, our girls loved it and made brilliant pillow forts (palaces) and played happily (in fact they would get mad whenever we left!). There was only one thing we felt missing from the cottage and that was a coat rack or stand for wet coats. All in all a very good first airbnb experience!

My Mom and I were traveling throughout the English countryside and spent 4 nights in the Isle of Man at Puffin Cottage. Our host was quite cheerful. The cottage was clean and comfortable, wireless internet was fast and reliable. The main bed was comfortable, the mattresses in the small bedroom were a bit hard for my taste. During nice weather there is a beautiful view from the lush hills down to the sea and I got the feeling that I had really gotten away from it all. A rooster crowed a little after sunrise and there was some basic breakfast provided, including some cereal, a pint of milk and some tea and coffee. Some things that could be helpful would include more specific directions with street names or coordinates. By the time we left Douglas it was getting dark and so finding where to go was a bit of a challenge. But by the light of the next day everything made more sense. Overall this was a great place to come home to as we traveled throughout the island each day!

Accurate description of a nice little holiday let. The cottage was exactly what you'd expect - basic but perfectly nice and had everything we needed. Beautiful views and in a nice spot. Relatively remote, though, so a car is probably best; we used bikes but the hilly terrain limited us to the southern two-thirds of the island really. Although you can take your bike on the steam railway. Julie was very helpful, accessible and friendly.
