"Perfect in Every Detail"
"First may I say that the Piedmont Guesthouse should be called a guest home. Because that's what it is. The 20th century Arts and Craft is perfect in every detail. From the spacious and well furnished rooms to the very cozy living room and a front porch on which I have spent many enjoyable evenings. The historic Piedmont neighborhood is a treat for the eyes of a fan of American architecture. Beautiful gardens and welcoming porches abound. However the best thing about the guesthouse is the host Gary. Or as I call him Mr. Portland. Gary is incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding area and all of its cultural attributes. He not only provides information but also takes guests on tours of Portland and surrounding areas. Whether here on business or pleasure this is a place of comfort."
"A family oasis for graduation and a perfect Mother's Day"
"Our entire family stayed here as we came for our son's graduation from WSU Vancouver. But I'm having a moral dilemma about writing this review. If I say what I really think, this amazing Craftsman home will always be booked and I'll have limited access to my home away from home in Portland. Oh well. Upon arrival we were greeted with the intoxicating scent of the black locust trees in full bloom nearby. At first I thought it was the tree size pink and red rhododendrons surrounding the property. I forget the beauty of mature landscaping in the Northwest. If that wasn't enough, a lap around the local neighborhood made me wonder what other hidden gems there are around Portland. Vacations always seem to be too short. Though we did make use of the BBQ for an economical steak dinner for 8, we only had time for one game from the well stocked games Gary had available, and no chance to watch a movie on the huge flat screen TV, though my son who arrived earlier used the wi fi to apply for jobs post graduation. We went to yard sales area instead of visiting the Alberta arts District and Historic Mississippi avenue District nearby-probably not the better choice but we are sort of addicted. So many reasons to come back. The house itself was delightful, but we love the arts and Crafts style. Cove molding, great tile, hardwood, arches and layout were not lost on us. Two spacious bedrooms upstairs and two down with comfortable beds would easily accommodate families with younger children to sleep in with parents. The kitchen had everything you could need, we had a lot of cooks in the kitchen. There was plenty of cupboard space open too I should have made better use of. When Gary heard we were to BBQ he got right to making sure it was totally ready for us. The owner was quick to reply to my text questions on details, we were well cared for."
"Best Equipped House"
"This is the best equipped house I have ever rented, in 40 years."
