Charming and bright, with a spectacular roof terrace overlooking our medieval village and surrounding vineyards. Updated, fully equipped and comfortable, with sunny eat-in kitchen, 2 bedrooms, sleeping 5, shower room, WC, Wifi.
Charming maison with the most spectacular roof terrasse you have ever seen, in a medieval hilltop village. The terrasse is completely private, so you can sunbathe in complete, glorious seclusion, relaxing in a comfy chaise on its tiled floor, hidden behind its pretty walls. Stand up, and the view over those walls is stunning, as you can see for miles over the surrounding rolling hills and vineyards. The terrasse is huge, covering the entire roof of the house, and equipped with a built-in stone BBQ, so you can while away a whole day up there, under the bright blue Mediterranean sky. This extraordinary house is located in Languedoc, the area known as the "real south of France." Just 15 minutes to white sand Mediterranean beaches, Maison Rose-Clair is fully renovated, comfortable, and sunny, with everything you need for an unforgettable, authentic French holiday, including a large country kitchen, sleeping space for five, two bathrooms and tiled floors and big windows throughout. A French country kitchen for cooking up fresh food from the market in the bustling town of Pezenas, just five minutes away. A large salon for entertaining. Two big bedrooms - one with a big double bed and the other with a double and a single mattress that can be pulled out for a fifth person. Best of all, the enormous, secluded terrasse on the roof, overlooking vineyards and the village, and equipped with a stone BBQ. A new washer and tumble dryer, microwave, toaster, blender, Nespresso machine, brand new giant 40-inch (101 cm) flat-screen TV, DVD and CD player. Free wireless internet, printer, and free phone calls to Europe and North America. The house is partially accessible for those with limited mobility. Please contact me for details. The village of Castelnau-de-Guers is charming and historic, and you can walk out each morning to its boulangerie, which boasts the best baguette in France, and warm buttery croissants. The village is near everything you want to see as a tourist, without being overrun by tourists itself. The mountains of the Haut Languedoc, the Canal du Midi, the Mediterranean, the awe-inspiring Cirque des Navacelles, mountain biking and hiking trails, abbeys and cathedrals, the river Herault with its stunning gorge, the ancient village of St. Guilhem le Deserts, the oyster port of Meze, the artsy medieval city of Pezenas, the home of Moliere, the canal town of Sete, and vineyards! We are in the largest wine-growing region in the world. The Languedoc is the sunniest part of France, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year. That means fresh market produce and amazing wines year-round, and Maison Rose-Clair can be your own private food and wine paradise. Getting here is easy, from anywhere. International airlines fly into Toulouse, Montpellier and Barcelona. Budget airlines fly regularly to Beziers, Montpellier, Perpignan, Nimes, Carcassonne and Girona. Spain, Andorra and the Pyrenees are within easy reach. By rail, the TGV operates from Lille to Beziers or Agde, and from Paris to Montpellier or Beziers. I'm a screenwriter for film and television living in Toronto, with as many forays to the south of France as I can manage. I love my French home, and often go there when I have a long project to write. The rooftop terrace is such a quiet, beautiful and inspiring place to work. I like to mountain bike, cross country ski, cycle and play tennis and I do all those things in France and in Canada. I also like to swim - in Toronto I am in Lake Ontario every day, right up till the end of October - I pride myself on being the last person in the lake every year. Only my old dog Endzone swims later than I do. In France I have the river Herault walking distance from my house, and it's beautiful to swim in, but also the Mediterranean, of course. I love the thought of other people getting as much enjoyment out of my house and my heavenly piece of the world as I do. Magical places are meant to be shared.
