Le logement

Welcome to New Orleans, and to the Artists Cottage.

Our home is a classic shotgun in New Orleans. It's history is rich and features a lot of original moldings and trim work. It has amazing 12 ft high ceilings and the rooms are around 12x12 ft in size. The sunlight fills the space during the day and you can catch the top of sunset on the horizon of the rooftops while sitting on the front porch.

Enjoy relaxing mornings in with high speed wifi, and coffee maker (drip or espresso Bialetti) with our favourite varieties of New Orleans dark roast for you to try. There is a local neighborhood grocer that is about 5 blocks down Esplanade, when you make a right from N. Broad St. The kitchen is full with utensils and pots/pans if you feel having meals in or adventurous to try some of your new favourite dishes you've had here in NOLA. Think gumbo, Étouffée, or daube. I have some great recipes and love to cook so just feel free to ask for anything and if you might be missing anything. Even a quick tutorial can be arranged. There is also a microwave and new steel appliances that work great.

Accès des voyageurs

Guests will have access to the front porch and the apartment area. Be mindful of neighbors and the noise level if you have guests late night.
Please no continuous guest overflow. (roaming in and out of the house)
We love our neighbors and want them to be treated well.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We are here to welcome you and help you get comfortable in the space and finding the local spots in the neighborhood. I always have an extensive list of things to do (restaurants, jazz clubs, bicycle rentals, art openings, grocery stores, laundromat, etc) and sent them prior to your arrival.
I let my guests explore on their own but I do touch base with y'all to check in and see how the stay is going. I love to hear about the experience when guests leave a note in the guest book. I am easily reached by phone or text!

Autres remarques

Please confirm your arrival and departure times (flying or driving) a week before arrival so we can schedule welcoming accordingly. We are very flexible but like to have a heads up a few days prior.

HOUSE RULES of note::

BE GREEN- Please be mindful of the environment and the energy bill and do not run the thermostat (AC/ Heating) while you are out. Turn it off as well as lights to keep the place cool. Please make sure to turn everything off upon departure.

TERMITE SEASON MAY-JUNE::
Just a cautionary advice, during termite season when you do notice some days at their worst try to limit lights which draw the termites like a moth to a flame. What we like to do is turn off the front porch light, and close the shutters on the outside windows so that any interior light is not seen therefore termites do not swarm the windows trying to get in. It's really important because they are a menace.

Keep the place as tidy as possible and to guests staying for extended periods/months at a time. Being hot and humid most months make sure to keep kitchen and food debris clear at all times. Roaches/ palmetto bugs are a part of Louisiana but the cleaner you keep the place the less chance of running into a nightly occurrence of pests. Make sure to take recycling and trash out daily to the bins to the left of the front porch. Trash days are Tuesday and Friday morning. Set the bins out the night prior (Monday and Thursday). Recycling is once a week of Friday set it out the night prior. NO GLASS in recycling, thats trash.

As guests do let us now if you plan on having additional guests visit. We are very laid back hosts and understand that you may have visitors is you are staying for an extended period but we do not allow guests to have visitors stay for an extended period. Just ask.

This is the best airbnb I have ever stayed at. The neighborhood is safe and convenient with a great coffee shop nearby (pagoda cafe). If you spend more than even a few minutes on the porch (which I highly recommend) you're sure to meet and talk with some your friendly new neighbors. It's also located with an a reasonable distance of most places you'd want to see in the city. The house itself is clean and comfortable with all the modern amenities you would need. I was able to conveniently work from home on several occasions and the living room was comfortable to have several friends over. Finally, Steve and Nic are wonderful hosts and great ambassadors for the city. They were communicative and flexible and always hospitable. Clearly, I highly recommend staying here on your next visit to New Orleans.

We loved staying at Nic and Steve's place. It was very clean, large and well stocked for cooking and sitting around visiting. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch and visiting with each other, the neighbors, and our hosts. Nic is an extremely accommodating hostess and will do everything she can to make you welcome. The neighborhood is well situated for visiting area sights, going to Frenchman Street, and just chilling on the front porch after a long day of music.

Nic was super nice and communicative. She left us lots of information for everything we needed. Rachel who checked us in was also so nice and and gave us lots of great tips. The apartment was just as described, spacious and charming. It's an old well maintained house that kept its unique character, bed was also comfortable. New Orleans was even better then expected. Great experience!
