À propos de ce logement
The Long Barn is an old stone, single-storey, whitewashed barn. It has private entrance, accommodation and outside space, set in tranquil and secluded gardens down a quiet country lane leading, in a few minutes amble, to a safe and secluded beach.
The ambience of the barn is comfort, with good sheets and fluffy towels, roaring log fires and comfy chairs. If you like quirky old buildings, with big oak beams and thumb-latch doors, rather than a faceless hotel room, then you'll like this place.
Renowned as an artistic retreat, the headland of Reen must be one of the most tranquil spots in Europe, let alone Ireland. You might possibly hear a fishing boat chugging the old trawling grounds off the coast. Otherwise your aural landscape is likely to be limited to birdsong, the wind in the leaves, and the distant crash of surf. It is an ideal spot for relaxation, unwinding, de-stressing and generally taking a time-out from the frantic pace of modern life.
In conjunction with www"."editorial"."ie a specialist writing consultancy, we also offer writer's retreats, a stay in The Long Barn coupled with your choice of editorial input on your current writing project. Check out the editorial"."ie site for more details.
It is also the site of the waters + wild organic perfumery. You might like to buy a scent, to remind you of your stay!
Accès des voyageurs
Guests have their own front door to the barn which comprises two bedrooms, bathroom, utility room, kitchen/living space and large private outside terrace. They are welcome to explore the rest of the grounds, and help themselves to seasonal produce in the kitchen garden, polytunnel and orchard.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
Guests can be as private as they like. We're happy to give some advice about restaurants, pubs, music venues, outdoor activities and sightseeing if needed. There are a selection of brochures, maps and guides provided to read at your leisure.
We have a dog, cats and chickens free-ranging over the grounds. All are very good with children (they haven't eaten ours yet, anyway), but probably not a good idea to feed them anything, because if you do they then won't leave you alone.
None of the animals are allowed in the The Long Barn, under any circumstances, to comply with our business traveller listing. And you wouldn't want hens wandering about in the kitchen anyway!
The Long Barn is a converted barn, tucked away in a corner of a rambling wild garden, not a hermetically sealed and disinfected hotel suite. It does receive a *thorough* clean before each guest arrives, but there might be the odd cobweb and dust from the fire appearing overnight which we can do little about.
First rule: Relax! Enjoy the peace and tranquility.
It would be appreciated if you could remove external shoes when inside, as the floors mark easily.
We request that you don't smoke inside, more for the benefit of other visitors who might be fussy about a smoke free environment.
Dogs are very welcome, we have one of our own, but not to sleep inside the Barn please (again, subsequent guests may be allergic). Also, be aware that we have free ranging hens. The eggs are for the eating, not the hens. Some dogs might not realise this. If you're not sure, please keep your dog on a lead at all times. Our hens are family!
We do not request a deposit, as we trust guests to make good any damage.
It would be appreciated if you could strip the beds and leave the sheets and towels in the utility room when you leave.
Check out time on your last day is 10:30am sharp. It may well be possible to stay later (we know how lovely a languid "last morning" is), but please discuss that with us in advance.
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 7 jours avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement à hauteur de 50 %. En cas d'annulation au cours des 7 jours précédant le voyage, la réservation est non remboursable.
