The Queen Bald Eagle of Basel Road, she made her nest at the far end of Basel Lake, a perfect place for her young, and just last spring she had a wee bald eagle in nest, and that's a good sign that they are here to stay. The Chiesa's B&B is lush and green in Summer and changes to beautiful shades in Autumn. It is abundant with Flora and Fauna, both native and introduced. This land and location gives a short growing season due to us having 4 seasons, but still provides us with light and sweet fresh veggies for cooking with. Its also the season for us to grow as much as we can so we can keep some for winter in jars and preserves.

There is an option of one ground floor room or one second floor room that are both very private and comfortable spaces.

The House is a two storey open-plan design with views from front to back of the house, natural light pours in from all angles, and the walls are dotted with artworks. There are hundreds of books to choose from for your weekend stay.

Prices include Coffee & Tea daily, as well as full Breakfast choices of what is in season and stock with delicious items such as locally raised Free Range Eggs, Gourmet Cheeses, Fresh Vegetables, Honey, Locally Crafted Jams, Breads, In-House-made Granola, and other delights. Guests have access to their rooms as well as the various living spaces, and a first floor bathroom with a large glass block shower, full use of the fireplace, and a back deck that overlooks the forest, as well as full access to the surrounding property.

There is access to Basel lake through the forest behind the property and a short walk down Basel Road for another angle.

There is a 10 Minute drive to the Shawangunk Mountains where you can enjoy many wonderful attractions; a famous Granite Rock lookout called Bear Cliff is great for Sunsets in the historic Art Colony Hamlet of Cragsmoor, access to the Cragsmoor historical Stone Church, also close by is Sam's Point Preserve (4,600 acres) with access to Lake Maratanza, Ice Caves, and many walking trails at an altitude of (2,289 feet/697 m).

Depending on the season there is easy access to wild Blue Berry and Cranberry picking (usually July).

A favorite pastime in the spring and summer are excursions to waterfalls and ancient Glacial lakes such as Minewaska, and Mohonk Preserve for picnics, swimming and local fine dining along the Shawangunk Ridge.

Basel Lake behind the property attracts animal lovers as the property and its surroundings are frequently visited by Canadian Geese and Bald Eagles nest in the trees. Also seen are Squirrels, Chip Monks, Blue Jays, Red Cardinals, Robins, and other local Fauna including Deer, Foxes, and sometimes turtles who lay their eggs in the grass by The Chiesa's.

In July there are also Fireflies which are a fun phenomena for children to experience.

We as the Hosts live in the upper southern-facing wing of the Chiesa's and are here to share our knowledge of the Area and to provide the best service with an in-home feeling for you all.

You can learn about what the Chiesa's Matriarch, Pamela Chiesa, grows in the spring/summer seasons of New York State in her organic garden, use herbs and veges for your desired dishes, and watch as the hosts prepare gourmet food in an open plan kitchen. You can even take a cooking class to learn fantastic Italian recipes so you may take a piece of The Chiesa's with you.

Terence Chiesa is a master carpenter who built the Chiesa's house with his bare hands.
He is also a Performance Poet that presents his poetry in different character voices. He has performed off Broadway and in the Hudson Valley.

Pamela Chiesa is the mama Chef of The Chiesa's. She prepares the most divine Italian dishes as well as other recipes of the world that were inspired by her travels overseas.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We interact with guests upon arrival and in the mornings when breakfast is served.

Guests often ask us questions about the area or about the space, or our history of living on the land, and these interactions open up a deeper connection with the B& B.

We respect that many people desire a secluded getaway and we respect everyone's private space and time.

Pam and Terry were fantastic! My wife and I had an amazing stay at the Chiesas' home. They were both very welcoming and home is the best way to describe the experience. We arranged to have a cooking class with Pam for our dinner plan when we arrived -it was delicious. Pam took the time to prepare what we wanted to eat/cook and went far and beyond providing very good wine for the occasion. We also were lucky enough to listen to a few of Terry's performing poems which, were very entertaining. A stay at Pam and Terry's house is one of the best examples of when AirBnB allows you to meet interesting and kind people, giving you a wonderful experience rather than just providing a bed. Thank you Pam and Terry for having us as guests, we loved it!

We had a really nice stay here. We arrived late and Pam made it easy for us to get in even though she wasn't there to greet us. The room was clean and comfortable. The best part was when we actually got to meet Pam in the morning and find out what a cheerful and friendly person she is. She prepared us an amazing breakfast and we left very happy.

Pam and Terry are such amazing, interesting and considerate hosts. They were full of interesting stories, and Pam made a delicious apple pie and we even enjoyed some champagne they offered for another two guests' wedding engagement, which happened during our stay. The house is situated a few minutes drive away from Sam's Point, a 3-mile hike that shows the breathtaking beauty of the countryside. There is a tranquil lake that is 5-min walk away from the house, and Terry took us there to try to spot some eagles. The breakfast Pam cooked was delicious, and their house, which Terry built by his own hands, is a gem and has a real homey feeling while incorporating some interesting, innovative design. I loved how many windows and light there is in the house. Highly recommend staying here.

I thoroughly enjoyed being at the Chiesa's home. I felt welcomed throughout my stay. The setting is beautiful and I slept really well (sometimes a challenge for me.) Pam is very personable. I especially enjoyed learning about the family history and hearing Pam's husband, Terry, perform in character short stories he's written. That was a special treat.

Hi everyone,

Julia and Pamela Chiesa here! We are native Hudson Valleyonians here to help you enjoy your time when visiting the area. We have traveled the world over and have set up a beautiful place for the world to now come to us.

First we want to say "Thanks for your interest in staying at The Chiesa's!"

Upon Julia's return to the USA in April 2015, after traveling the world for 10 years, our Family got together and reopened a Family Tradition of running a Bed & Breakfast to share the beautiful Hudson Valley and all that it has to offer while providing a very peaceful place to call home for other world travelers.

We are a weekday and weekend Bed & Breakfast and are accepting requests anytime.

Our B&B is run by long-term residents & members of the original hippies, Pamela and Terence Chiesa on Terence's family land. This land was purchased by Italian Food Connoisseur Giuseppe Chiesa to host visitors, and much like we are doing today, feed people great food, great wine, a peaceful place to sleep to share enjoyment of the surrounding beauty.

The Retreat sleeps up to 8 people in three unique bedrooms. Each bedroom is decorated elegantly with queen sized or full sized beds, a closet and views to the wilderness.

The House was built by Terence Chiesa, who is also a master wood craftsman among other arts, and the space is of modern open aired design, with many spaces to read, host friends and gather that much needed rest and relaxation.

If you are interested in escaping the hustle bustle of New York City, have the need to explore the area's famous rock climbing cliffs, or just need to do something different from the usual... Just send us a message and we look forward to helping you get the most out of your stay!

We look forward to hosting you!
