Le quartier

„Suddenly, the sea opened and a young, exceptionally charming girl emerged. (...) - Do not be afraid - she said (...) with a melodious voice - I am the queen of the water (...) I am called Jurata".

In memory of the sea queen, the small fishing village was named after the old Slavic sea goddess, who fell in love with a poor fisherman against the wishes of her father. The angry sea god Gork, smashed the underwater amber castle of his daughter. Pieces of the palace have been washed ashore by the sea waves up to this day.
This is one of the lovely legends that try to explain the origins of the town's name, which in 2001 celebrated the 70th anniversary of its existence. Jurata - as the most modern seaside resort of pre - war Poland, has gained the name of the Polish "Palm Beach" and "the most elegant and the most snobbish place on the Polish Coast". Many eminent guests from the world of culture and politics used to come to this place. Today, it slowly regains its former splendour. As in the past, politicians, businesspeople and actors often visit Jurata.
