We respect your privacy and can be available as much as you wish! You don't need to interact with us, although the children will be curious about you and so will our pets. Please don't let the animals into the Garden Suite though as we like to accommodate guests with allergies.
We're flexible if you want a lift somewhere and able to share our knowledge of some of the beautiful places in the Northern Beaches. We love to share meals together for longer-term guests. For international guests who need to set themselves up for longer stays, we'll take you to the shops and show you around if you like.
In the leafy suburb of Allambie Heights, you are close to bush walks and mountain bike trails. You can wake to bird song and watch the native wildlife from your Suite. There is a bus to Manly or the City within a five-minute walk and Manly Warringah National Park is a ten-minute walk away with walking tracks, mountain bike trails and the freshwater dam for swimming.
There is a great shopping centre less than 2km from us with leading department stores, international retailers (H&M etc) and boutiques. Around Manly, you will find lots of cafes, a local craft market and general retail outlets.
The Allambie Heights village shopping centre further up the road can offer you local shops, supermarket and restaurant/ cafes.
We can provide you with Opal Cards on request to access public transport during your stay. If arriving from Sydney airport we can arrange a door to door pickup service for you.
A short 350m walk will get you to a great local café, pharmacy and City/ Manly bus service. The #142 bus will take you to the surfside delights of Manly (4kms away) with many tourist or nightlife options. Why not hop a ferry from there to Circular Quay? You can take in the sights of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House on the way! Ferry travel time is 20mins by fast-Cat or 30mins by Sydney Ferries.
A comprehensive bus service links you to Chatswood, beaches, Warringah Mall and the City. The E66 express bus will drop you off in Sydney city and we're pretty flexible with offering lifts around the area. We recommend CityMapper, a great app for planning a trip and getting around.
For guests arriving from Sydney international or domestic airport, we recommend you search for one of the numerous Northern Beaches Shuttle Buses. For local visitors, there is plenty of on-street parking for cars.
Our home is a ten-minute walk from the Manly Warringah National Park, with many lovely walking trails and a large freshwater dam for water sports and swimming. The waterfall there can be simply magical and well worth the short trek.
There are two bicycles & helmets that you can borrow. We do ask that you look after them, wear a helmet for your own safety, and use provided bike locks, on the agreement that any damage is at your expense.
We have a magical garden and love spending time at the nearby Many Dam. We swim there in warmer weather and there are plenty of walking trails to explore, including a waterfall.
We have two dogs and two cats and two young children and we love visitors! While the cats are generally aloof, the big dog will want to make a new friend.
The shower area can get wet. We provide plenty of towels and bathmats under the sink. If you leave them outside the Garden Suite we will dry them for you.
We have young children so we generally keep the noise down after they go to bed. We ask if guests need us, they do so before 8 pm or ring us.
We prefer non-smoking because of the kids, but if you keep it subtle and outside then we won't mind too much ;) Please let us know in advance so we can provide an ash tray.

Hello! I was born in Australia, but spent most of my childhood in other countries. I've lived in Spain, Greece, Sweden, England and Belgium! No, sadly I don't speak other languages! It won't surprise you though that I love to travel! My husband also lived in different countries through his childhood, but these days we're both more armchair travellers!
I used to work in book publishing so love reading and supporting Australian authors. Now I teach and talk about digital publishing to authors and publishing students. I also write, talk and teach about crowdfunding. This enables me to work around our two kids.
I've always wanted to live somewhere with lots of space and we bought this place four years ago. It has a huge garden and a huge house! Not yet renovated the house, but making plans....! The garden is magical and I love that the kids can spend a day out there without running out of things to do. This to me is what childhood should be about - building 'camps' out of branches, catching tadpoles, digging and enjoying life.
My husband Russ loves to cook, I love to eat - the perfect partnership! We also love to do bush walks in the nearby Manly Warringah National Park and swim in the dam there. Although the beaches aren't that far, I love the fact we can go there and be surrounded by natural bush and not have parking issues or jostle for space on the beach!
Come visit and we'll make you fall in love with the Northern Beaches too!
