The place was really difficult to get to. The walk from Hongik to the house was closer to 20minutes than 10minutes. Instructions on how to get to the house was only sent one day before our flight. The images in the PDF are screengrabs from online and are in a slightly warped angle, clearly didn’t depict what we saw in real life. A bit of trouble navigating around using her instructions, made several rounds before finding our own way there. The house is extremely badly mantained. There was dust everywhere, insects such as crickets, spiders and roaches. The wood floor sticker is obviously quick DIY job. There were spaces between the sticker and the wall/ floor. A lot of dirt got stuck in between. We believe this is where the insects may have been crawling out of. We also did not use the sofa bed as there was A LOT of dust underneath it. The area underneath the sink cabinet is exactly how you’d imagine a dodgey backalley restaurant’s one looks like. Not cleaned at all – it was to a point where if you dropped something there, you wouldn’t want to reach to get it back. There are 2 storage areas in this house. First, is the extra bedroom. There were dusty shoes in one corner, the bed unmade, pillows everywhere, and a pile of clothes(?) The homeowner said that “this room is for the 3rd guest and up, so it’s a sorage room” ok. Second area is this space behind the kitchen. The microwave, fridge, and washing machine are all here. There were rags, mops, towels, plastic bags of items just thrown everwhere. Again, host said that this was a storage area, that’s why it looked like that. Cups, bowls, pans, etc, were all completely unhygenic. They were MOULDY. And the mirror had a smear of chocolate(?) on it. At this point we deemed that everything was unhygenic and did our best to not use or touch anything that was unnecessary. We tried to get in contact with the host but were unable to. We were desperate to change our accommodation and felt really distressed about having to be in the house that wasn't clean. We tried cleaning up ourselves while waiting for a reply from her to get a refund to change accomodation. This didn’t come until the end of the 2nd night, and she offered a cleaning service instead. The house was slightly better after the cleaning service. However on the next day the crickets and roaches were back!! Is there no proper maintenance? We were busy dodging roaches and crickets the rest of our trip. Contacting airbnb was just a waste of time because they just kept telling us to contact the host. All we wanted was to cancel the rest of the days and change to a more suitable accommodation but we weren't even able to do that. It was so difficult for us.
