Just kick back and relax in our split-level cottage, it is both cosy and comfortable for a family or small group. Newly renovated, it combines Japanese touches with bright, modern styling plus all the extras you need such as fully equipped kitchen, super heating and a bathroom with endless hot water. Two bedrooms can be made up as king size or singles with a fold-out sofa for two extra people in the living room. Restaurants, shops and shuttle bus to five different resorts are on the corner.
Our cottage offers a drying room upon entry, then a smart open-plan living area with a dining table for six and a cosy living room with Apple TV and a heated carpet, which is very useful in Japan!

The fully-tiled bathroom with deep bath and separate toilet are on this level, while the timber staircase leads up to two bright bedrooms, with flexible bedding arrangements. Have one king size and two singles if you have a family, or two king sizes if you are couples travelling together. Downstairs, a a fold out sofa takes a few kids and there are extra futons as well. Japanese touches such as shoji windows and tatami mats add character to the bright, crisp, modern styling. A rear terrace allows for BBQs under the trees, and yes, it is possible in winter as well. Unlimited hot water and efficient heaters provided those necessary comforts and there is a good Wifi connection. Parking for one car is also available.

We meet guests at the Hakuba Goryu bus stop or Kamishiro train station (two stops from Hakuba) and take them on a shopping trip plus call back during their stay to ensure that everything is going smoothly. We can also direct guests to services such as ski rental and lessons and help with trips to the snow monkeys or other destinations for those off-mountain days.
The nearest train station is Kamishiro while for the bus, Hakuba Goryu, the first stop at the base of the mountains, is the most convenient.
The following is the co-ordinates if you arrive by car.
No smoking inside the house please.

An Australian from Melbourne but I lived on the Gold Coast for ten years from 2000. So how did I swap sunshine for snow, a surfboard for a snowboard? That's a long story but as I was a journalist in a past life, you will have to wait until the book comes out! Apart from the five years I have been in Japan, I have lived in Bangkok and Poland, working as a teacher. I love languages and have had a go at everything from Thai to Swedish but German and Japanese are the only ones I am any good at. Everything about food is interesting to me and I can cook anything except a Sunday roast and pavlova I can make sushi and hand-rolled pizza in my sleep!
