Nestled in the Marin headlands, we're in the perfect location for exploring the Bay Area! The Mt. Tamalpais Room has a queen bed/private bath. It is one of 2 rooms. Surrounded by beautiful trees, you'll feel like you are sleeping in a tree house!
This listing, the Mount Tamalpais Room, has a queen bed and a private bathroom across the hall. It is one of two bedrooms in the lower level of our home. The other bedroom is the Muir Woods Room, with a queen bed, en suite bathroom and large enough for a futon or air mattress.
Each room is listed separately and reservations are open only one month in advance because we prefer to rent both rooms to one group. In addition to the two bedrooms and bathrooms, the lower level has a den. To view the other listings go to:

Both rooms/entire lower level:
The lower level is accessible from the upstairs/main entrance of the house or from the private entrance on the deck. The lower level is NOT closed off from the rest of the house, but it is our guests' private space. Upon entering the lower level there is a den equipped with a television (no cable but we do have Netflix, VCR, DVD, and lots of movies), refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and a sofa. The sofa converts into a double bed, but using the sofa as a bed is only an option when you rent the entire lower level (separate listing). There is no kitchen and no cooking is permitted.
Coffee and tea are always available; we will provide a continental breakfast (fresh fruit, juice, cereal and yogurt) for $5 per person per day but please let us know in advance.
There is Wi-fi throughout the house and the Muir Woods Room has a desktop computer.
Please review the important things to note and the house rules.
There is a two night minimum with a discount for a weekly rental. If you are staying with us for a week, you are welcome to use our laundry.
Extra people - $10 per person per night for more than 2 people; no charge for children under 12
Cleaning fee $25

We enjoy interesting conversations, but respect your privacy and space. If there’s anything you need or if you want tips for good food, events or activities, just let us know!
We have an indoor cat who has NO access to the bedrooms and is unlikely to go down to the den. He is NOT allowed outside because our neighbors include raccoons, squirrels, deer, turkeys, all kinds of birds and an occasional coyote. We are on a hillside, so a car is highly recommended for getting to the house and traveling around the Bay Area. Our house is on a narrow, two-way road approximately 1/4 mile up from the main street and parking is limited.
For the enjoyment and comfort of our guests, there is a 10 pm to 7 am quiet time in the house. No cooking and no pets. No smoking inside or on the deck. It is essential that our guests are respectful of our neighbors' privacy and parking. We ask you to please take care of everything as if it were your home. If there is any damage, please let us know so we can take care of it right away. Please do not invite others into our home.

My husband, John, and I love to go hiking and swimming and enjoy reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends. John rides his bike just about everywhere and is active in our community (actor in local plays, volunteering for community events). We enjoy good conversation about any and all things. I work in San Francisco and John works from home as a web designer, communications strategist and writer (including novels!). We use Airbnb whenever we travel and we like to stay in places that are warm and welcoming, clean, neat and peaceful. We offer the same to our guests.
