I live in the village and will be happy to help with any problems or to help you find your way about
Poppies cottage is one of a terrace of 7 Victorian cottages on a private lane at the top of the village. The village has a selection of shops, 2 pubs, an award winning chippy and a post office. Main supermarkets are within 5 miles and bigger shops in Kendal or Lancaster (10 miles).
There is no parking immediately outside the cottage, but you can pull up to unload and then park further down the lane.
Arnside has easy access to the M6 at Carnforth or Crooklands and the village railway station (15mins walk) is on the Manchester Airport/Barrow-in-Furness line offering connections via Lancaster to the West Coast Main Line and the picturesque Morecambe/ Leeds line.
Kirkby Lonsdale is about 10 miles East and Grange over Sands is a 10 minute train ride over the estuary viaduct.
This is a wonderful place for a holiday or a short break. You can walk from the cottage and be in open countryside or on the beach in 10 minutes.
We're surrounded by National Trust, Natural England, AONB and RSPB land so there's no shortage of places to walk or things to do.
There are point to point races at Cartmel as well as the medieval priory (2015 is the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta).
Windermere and Coniston are about 30-45 minutes drive.
Unfortunately mobile phone signal is quite poor in the cottage itself. Arnside is in an AONB so masts are not allowed. There is good coverage down in the village, but as you go up the hill it reduces. I find the bay window in the living room is the best place to park my phone.
Pets are allowed, but downstairs only. The lane at the front and back of the cottage is privately owned by each cottage in the terrace - please clean up after your dogs.
Parking for this cottage is limited - please follow the instructions and understand that although you can pull up to the door to unload, you will have to park at least 100m away.
I Don't charge any additional fees for cleaning so expect the cottage to be left reasonably clean and tidy.
Please respect the neighbours - this is a friendly and peaceful little area of the village.

Hi - I'm Alison and I'm lucky enough to travel all over the world with my job (you'll find lots of hotel toiletries in the bathroom :-)) but I always look forward to coming home to this lovely village.
The cottage used to be my weekend retreat, but I love the area so much I moved here last year so now I'm making it available to discerning visitors!
