Le logement

"Like staying in a National Park" has often been a remark made by guests and indeed it is. It is a getaway destination devoid of media connection ~ (cellphone reception often is fine tho there is - purposely - no WiFi at the house; (WiFi in town - 5 min away). This space is offered to allow the beautiful wild surroundings to feed & heal your soul. The house is a secluded strawbale & stucco construction with no traffic. big trees. views. no noise. The suite is a beautiful spacious private lock-off, with private entrance. The bedroom is light & airy with aspen ceilings & French doors and has a new queen size real bed with topper. The studio has an aspen cathedral ceiling , cushy couch & a writing/laptop table.
Meditators, writers (song & word), yogis & such will find the space inspiring. Radiant heated wood floors with with clean rugs.. so we have a strict NO SHOE (slippers provided) & NO PET policy. This is a NON SMOKER listing.
The private bathroom is light & lovely with a roomy shower and is located just off the nicely equipped, cozy & colorful shared kitchen.
This is a perfect space for one or two people. No parties are allowed here - it's a place of creativity & inspiration, where you can allow both the suite and the magnificence of wild places to fill, relax & inspire you.
The town of Crestone, replete with an art gallery, grocery stores, shops & dining, is about 1.5 miles away.

Accès des voyageurs

The kitchen/dining area along with the parking area are shared.
The self-serve kitchen is available for meatless breakfast preparation & for snacking (no cooking at the other times of day). The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a toaster, cooking oil & some condiments. A small space in both fridge & cabinet are available.
The breathtakingly beautiful tranquil pine needle patio on the mountain side, (located outside the guest quarters windows), is for the guests' use and include seating, small table & a medicine wheel. Listen to birdsong and breeze all day long.
Included in the suite is a library of DVDs - there's no cable here.

Off limits are the office (which is between the guest quarters & bath/kitchen/dining area), and the cabin (on the opposite side (W) of the house), along with the area around the cabin and west side (valley side) of the house.

Hike to the Jangchub Chorten Stupa of Enlightenment (on Camino Baca Grande) right from the house; we'll point you in the right direction.
It's about 1.5 miles from town & less than a half mile to asphalt road - for cyclists & walkers. Since the house is bordering greenbelt, one can hike & explore right from the door.
Please contact the hosts about all that Crestone offers or check online, which readily lists all the charms & activities in the area.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

There is only one guest space and therefore the only interaction will be with the owners, if & when they are present (probably in the kitchen/dining area).
The owners will be in & out of the house, depending on work schedules and will maintain quiet respect. The office, which is off limits to guests, will be respectfully used by owners in complete quiet. Guests should feel free to ask about any personal concerns.

Autres remarques

The Baca and the town of Crestone is a place where the animals (& insects) live .. so one must have clear awareness of keeping the house & grounds free of food (especially) and any strong smelling scents.
All packaging can be recycled but must be cleaned before being put into recycle bin. The owners will remove garbage. There is a cleaning fee of $60, every 7 days (guests whose stay exceed one week to be aware of); bedclothes and towels will be replaced once a week.

Pets are not welcome since our rugs & couch must remain animal scent & dander-free for those other guests for whom it may cause allergies for. Absolutely no smoking in the house! .. and smoking outside is discouraged since extreme responsibility for fire hazard must be taken. If one chooses to smoke outside, please do so away from the house so that the smoke does not waft in.
Food is to be stored only in the kitchen and NEVER in cars, since Crestone and the Baca Grande subdivision essentially border wild habitat.

I stayed here for two nights for a solo weekend getaway. I was looking for a quiet place to rest – and I found it! If you’ve ever dreamed of living in a cabin in the woods, this place is for you! It’s definitely quiet – except for hummingbirds, the patter of rain, and rolling thunder. The house itself is artfully inspiring. I felt right at home, and TC is a lovely hostess. You will have plenty of privacy in a beautiful, clean space. I would recommend this place for couples and solo travelers (if you are a solo female traveler, you will feel safe and cozy here). The bed is super comfy – I slept better than I have in ages! And don’t forget to take in the views as you’re driving up and down the road to the house – the mountains as you’re traveling up the road, and the sweeping valley on your way down the road. I would stay here again.

This is a beautiful home and my host was very friendly and accommodating. It was unfortunately very hot and difficult to not be able to keep windows open due to break-ins by bears. My hostess did her best to keep her home safe from bears, but it was a difficult situation for her. I did appreciate her kindness and responsiveness to my needs.

Hi Diane, very unfortunate about the bear situation in Crestone and I take it seriously as did your people at the retreat event.. so I wish you would have said the "bear break-ins in Crestone this year" since this is the first year I've had to close my windows at night in many years of living here. In my description I did warn about bear habitat and the strict care that must be taken with food. Thanks for telling me about the bed. you are the first. I have a high loft topper on it, although not foam (which is hot I've read) so maybe I'll double the poly topper.. I'm sorry that the bathroom location was a problem for you but I did describe the bathroom as off the shared kitchen, maybe you didn't see that. ... sounds like you didn't enjoy your stay and that's too bad because the space is magical but what can do when bears are having a crazy year? best of luck in life in all your endeavors!

My husband and I wanted a quiet spot for a 5 night stay in Crestone where we would have easy access to beautiful out of doors places. We also wanted to have access to a nice kitchen in which to prepare meals. We loved our stay at TC's place. Every morning I wandered outside the door into the wild. There was rain sometimes, so the creek by the property was running. The space allotted to us was very generous and beautifully decorated. There was plenty of room for both of us to do our yoga at the same time. The kitchen was very nice. TC provided us with an assortment of dishes and pots and pans. She also made room in her fridge for our groceries. There is a nice round table in the kitchen to sit at. This is a nice place to stay if you want to have easy access to town and to spiritual centers up the road. The futon bed was comfortable and every night I had fantastic dreams. This is a wonderful place. No internet access and iffy cell phone reception.
