À propos de ce logement

Our upcountry home is surrounded by lush gardens, filled with original art, only 15 minutes from beaches, in the lovely town of Makawao. On the slopes of Haleakala, our 2 bedroom home is comfortable and has everything you need for a unique Maui stay!

Le logement

This is our home, where we live and work, so it has all the beauty and personal touches we love to have around us. Original art, beautiful rugs, antiques, and a very comfortable bed with high quality linens. We have a full modern kitchen, 2 full baths, one with bathtub.

Each room opens to the outdoors, with lush plantings visible from every window and lanais on the back and side of the house. There are many banana plants, 2 orange trees and a large avocado tree.

We do healing work, so our home reflects this energy and everyone who enters comments on how peaceful and beautiful our home is.

Accès des voyageurs

We leave the master bedroom and our office available for your use. The office is used by us to see clients, with a massage table, but can be used as a meditation or yoga space. The house is 1,000 sq feet, but we may close off the 3rd bedroom where we keep our personal things.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We will be away, and are available by phone and email with any questions that come up. Our tenant in an attached studio may be available for urgent needs.

Autres remarques

*Our dog Tilly will need to be fed twice a day, and has a dog door, but would love a short walk if you feel like it. She is older (16) and is very quiet, sleeping much of the time, but is a very sweet presence. Our cat just needs dry food refilled once a day and is mostly outdoors on his own.

Our house has ceiling fans, but because of our location, it rarely gets too hot or too cool. We simply open the windows when it's a hot day and the house cools off quickly.

We definitely enjoyed our stay and loved the peaceful serene garden environment out back. The Makawao area is centrally located to maximize your ability to see the island without backtracking much, and is very charming in and of itself. I would highly recommend these accommodations and would stay here again. Lucia was a gracious host.

I have used AirB&B quite a few times but was never so comfortable and well-communicated with before, during and closing our stay. Lucia left us the most detailed welcome and instructions. She gave multiple ways to reach her if we had needed. That put us at ease in what was a most clean and beautiful home just blocks walking distance from the heart of charming Makawao. I kept telling people that if I had a home in Hawaii, it would be just like this. Tons of natural light, skylights even in the bathrooms, 2 private porches including our favorite off the bedroom in back which opens into a lovely garden full of fruit trees. Each night we were lulled to sleep by the gentle breeze coming up the mountainside and the trickling fountain out back. Lucia has a sweet older dog named Tilly who we offered to watch for a few days. And there are 2 lovable kitties who mostly live out back and sometimes come in to visit via a pet door in the office. There are 2 bathrooms and a bright open kitchen with every amenity which made it really easy to stay in and cook for ourselves when we wanted to. Because this town is halfway up Haleakela, the temperature is always perfect and breezy. The ceiling fans and greenery around the home kept it very comfortable. The natural colors and textures and original art and artifacts from around the world accented the rooms beautifully. Since we were there for more than a week, we really appreciated having a washer and drier too. As mentioned, there is downtown Makawao just a short walk away which features many delicious cafes, restaurants, even a lively sports bar. There is a country store with plenty of homemade and organic staples, plus wine and liquor shack, post office, library etc. Excellent little town only 25 minutes from the airport and centrally located to everything. Lucia also left us a very thorough list of restaurant recommendations which we benefited from. I was a little worried we might be too far from the beaches since we love to swim and snorkel, but again, we found the trade-off of a 20 or 30 minute drive worth it for the peace and quiet of this location. Plus you are closer to Haleakala National Park and many of the wineries, farms, and the laid-back hippie beach town of Paia where there is a huge natural grocery store and many more dining options. Great for an evening stroll. Lucia has made a most welcoming home full of Aloha spirit, and we cannot recommend it enough.

I am self-employed for over 15 years doing energy healing work, teaching and facilitating healing retreats.

I own a home on Maui, with 2 rentals, and my partner and I also have a home on Molokai, HI, where we offer retreats and also vacation rentals.

My daughter and other family live on the East Coast, so I like to have a comfortable place to stay when visiting them, much preferring a home to a hotel.
