Le logement

Relax in a restored oak log cabin with queen loft, 1.5 baths (shower/no tub), fully furnished kitchen, breakfast room & den. Enjoy gorgeous sunsets from a rocking chair on your private back porch. Easy (one minute!) I-26 access to make getting around town effortless. Jotul woodstove makes for wonderful Winter evenings around a fire. Enjoy fresh eggs from the backyard chickens, Kangen/alkaline water, & fresh veggies from Summer garden. Unlimited Wifi, Charter cable. Separate entrance & separate parking from hosts in main house. The cabin owners have a friendly golden retriever and a 9 year old daughter that play in shared backyard. Mini-splits in den, kitchen, and loft for both heating and air conditioning. The cabin is 1/2 mile off Exit 15 of I-26 which goes straight into Asheville. Easy to get to. 10 minutes to Navitat Canopy Tours (coolest zip lines around!), 10 minutes to French Broad River, 15 minutes to Blue Ridge Parkway, 12 miles to Wolf Laurel Ski Resort and snow tubing, 8 minutes to great restaurants, art, clubs, people-watching, etc... in awesome Asheville, 5 minutes to quaint downtown Weaverville or Mars Hill, location of Mars Hill College.

We have nice (close proximity) neighbors to the right of our home, nobody on the left that you'll see, and there is a nice neighborhood across the street that has good hills for walking exercise. Jupiter Rd. is a fairly busy county road. Pay attention when exiting the driveway.

Accès des voyageurs

Full access to the backyard cabin and backyard portion of owner's yard.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

As much or little as they would like. Guests do a self-check-in with keyless coded entry pad.

Autres remarques

Our chickens are enclosed in fencing but they are visible and tempting to curious dogs. Please be a responsible pet owner when letting your dog play in the yard.

** As of 5/17, we have had several unfortunate accidents with guest's dogs killing our chickens, so we have removed the pet friendly status and will only accept pets with a convincing conversation from pet-owners about their diligence with overseeing their dog in the yard.

GPS address: 147 Jupiter Rd Weaverville NC 28787
We are located on the stretch of I-26 between the north side of Asheville and TN, at Exit 15, Jupiter/Barnardsville. (Weaverville, NC, is located at Exit 19). You will turn LEFT off the Exit 15 ramp onto Jupiter Road and find us about ½ mile down on the RIGHT. Our neighbor to our right has an easy-to-spot blue house that you will see just prior to ours, and we share a driveway.
We're located on a county road that allows us to feel like we're out in the country to some degree, yet Weaverville is 5 minutes away, and Asheville is 10 minutes away. We have a great neighborhood across the street where we can walk the dog and get some good hill exercise!
PARKING: We have driveways on both sides of our main house. Yours is the one to the RIGHT of the house, directly at the mailbox with a red reflective "147" indicator. Pull in directly in front of the garage/workshed. Please park as far left in the driveway as possible so our neighbors can get their two cars in. There’s a diagonal space you are free to use jutting towards our yard for a second car. Enter the tall wooden gate to your left. Sometimes the gate sticks, so just push hard. The door to Staley’s Respite Cabin in back has a keyless entry pad with code 1 9 7 4. (There are keys in the lockbox- same code- if for some reason the keypad fails to work, and the keys unlock the back deck door).
We have 3 individually controlled mini-splits in the cabin for both AC and heating. Refer to instructions posted beside each remote control unit mounted on walls in the bedroom, kitchen, and den (by the desk).
Call or text me if any kitchen goods are missing for a meal you want to prepare. We’re happy to share pots/pans/baking dishes, etc…Also, I’m happy to share fresh chicken eggs and Kangen alkaline water if you let me know you’re interested!
If you need to use the pull-out sofa, extra bedding and an egg-crate mattress are located in the upstairs closet and blanket chest. If someone is sleeping on the sofa bed, access to the kitchen is blocked, but you can use the back deck as a cut through.

Most of the books are “take one, leave one”! Just ask, if you don’t mind- we still use some of the travel and reference books.

The chickens love pasta, grain, fruit and veggie discards, so feel free to throw leftovers over the fence for them.

Please wash all your dishes before departure and place sheets and towels by the washer/dryer.

We'd appreciate the woodstove users placing cooled ashes/leftover charred wood in the provided ash pail on back deck, as the cleaner greatly appreciates this on quick turn-around days. We'll empty the pail in our compost bin.
Jupiter Rd. is a fairly busy county road. Pay attention when exiting the driveway.
As part of our quarterly pest control treatment, we leave mice bait boxes out in a few locations around the cabin. They are in out of the way places and supposedly pet and child "resistant", but a determined child or pet could possibly get into them. Please be aware if you're traveling with either, and if you let me know you're concerned, I can remove them before you arrive.

Thanks! We hope you enjoy your time in the Asheville area and appreciate you selecting our cabin for your stay!! We’d love to have you back or host some of your friends or family in the future!

This was our first time using airbnb and I cannot recommend GeGe's cabin enough - it's even better than the pictures! The cabin was SO nice. There were so many well thought out little details that made it feel very homey, which we loved. Also, the chickens are really cute (especially the fluffy white one). We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit!

GeGe's place offered the perfect spot for a get together with my son and daughter in law from Asheville. The location just off 26 was ideal, kitchen well appointed for cooking, bed super comfy and lots of interesting architectural details in the home. Fun times on back porch with chickens and dog, Scout, made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this spot.

June 2017 This was the perfect space for us-private, out of the hubbub yet easy driving to all the sights and attractions. The cabin was just right for two people, we felt like we were on a second honeymoon! The kitchen had everything we needed, bathroom and shower were roomy, and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Cabin is full of 'quirky' furniture and eclectic art- fun and interesting! Internet and phones worked great. The cabin is eco-friendly with composting, recycling, organic soap, and on demand water heater and fresh eggs from the chickens! We hated to leave!!! Definitely will recommend to our friends headed to the Blue Ridge area! Thanks GeGe for sharing such a wonderful place with us.

We loved our stay at GeGe's cabin! It was exactly as described yet somehow even better. The setting is charming and inviting at the same time. It had everything we could have wanted. We loved spending time on the back porch in the mornings. We couldn't have asked for anything more! We will definitely visit again.

Check this cabin out. Wonderful family, wonderful accommodations and simply a wonderful experience. My wife said it all after her experience..."I could live here!"
