I enjoy meeting and interacting with guests. I also respect their privacy. I am available to help with tourist advice and general inquiries. My private space is upstairs.
A quiet, serene spot just minutes from downtown Astoria.
The house is a 50’s bungalow situated at the top of a hill where the street ends at the entrance to the city woods. There is no through traffic. It is quiet and peaceful. The property is surrounded by city woods. The backyard, a third of an acre, is a private park with a great view of the Columbia River and the Astoria Bridge. The deer and many birds and butterflies enjoy the flowering plants. A glassed in sun porch and a patio provide comfortable areas to relax and enjoy the garden.
There is a large, level driveway to accommodate off street parking. The entrance through the sun porch has only a few stairs allowing easy access.
Sorry, no pets. The accommodation is not appropriate for small children. No smoking in the house or on the enclosed sunporch.
See house manual for details.
I grew up in NYC. I have since lived and worked in Paris, a kibbutz in Israel, New England, New Mexico. I settled in San Francisco for several years but migrated to Oregon for a teaching position in Salem. I missed the water. I have been an avid sailor and scuba diver with many hours at the helm in SF Bay, the San Juan and Gulf Islands and the Caribbean, or under the sea in the Caribbean. I’m partial to warm water. When I retired 12 years ago I moved to Astoria. It’s been a long journey. The water is cold, but the people are warm and the views are unbeatable. I am currently working on turning my doodling into an art form.
