Roz's place has a great location on a hill, a lovely bedroom and bath, plenty of down time space, indoors (a sittingroom/den) and out (sunporch and patio). It is just a few minutes from downtown in a quiet neighborhood, and has off street parking. We enjoyed talking with Roz as much as anything else we did in Astoria. She gave us tips on restaurants and things to do, so we had very full days. A great place to stay.

Staying with Roz is just like staying with family...your mom or grandmother. She is the best and the bed is tops...super firm and comfy that you could lay in it for hours.!

What a lovely experience we had at Rosalyn's house. Rosalyn made us feel extremely welcome from the start and gave us great reccomendations about the local area. The location was perfect, the house is situated just outside of downtown Astoria and very near to the river walk and Pier 39 for your morning coffee looking out on the Columbia River. Would highly recommend staying at Rosalyn's place!

What a fabulous experience! This was my first trip to Oregon, and I'm really glad I decided to stay in Astoria instead of (overcrowded) Cannon beach. This town is like a miniature San Francisco situated at the mouth of the Columbia. The grandeur of this magnificent river blew me away; it truly makes the Mississippi look like a muddy little creek! Astoria is full of Victorian homes perched on steep hills, has a wonderful historic downtown area, a riverwalk that is miles long, great hikes, good restaurants and breweries, and the Columbia River Maritime Museum which is a must-see even if (like me) you're not into museums. Roz's home was a perfect place to stay in Astoria. It is situated at the very top of a steep street, with dense forest just next door and an incredible view. She is a wealth of information about Astoria and the surrounding area. In addition to a bedroom and private bath, you also have a nice den at your disposal. I haven't slept so well in ages - incredibly comfortable bed and no city noise such as sirens and airplanes. She has wonderful options for continental breakfast, and her garden is beautiful (Oregon seems to be the hydrangea capital of the world!). Check-in was a breeze, and parking is awesome (private driveway off street). Roz is a great ambassador for Astoria. When I told her of my interests, she provided many wonderful options. She is a very gracious host and incredibly personable. My only regret is that I didn't stay more than two nights! I am hooked on Oregon and will certainly return to Astoria and enjoy Roz's hospitality again. In closing, here are a few recommendations in Astoria: hike on trail starting at Irving and 28th up to Cathedral Tree and Astoria Column (the view!), the aforementioned museum, Fort George Brewery & Public House, Reach Break Brewery, Wetdog Cafe & Brewery (on the riverwalk with views of the river - watching the fog roll in was surreal!), Coffee Girl on pier 39.

Rosalyn was an amazing host! She made us feel at home and was prompt to answer any of our questions through text and email! She was there if we needed anything, yet gave us the space and privacy we needed. Her place was clean and had lots of space to relax and looks exactly like it does in the pictures. The backyard was beautiful and the ocean view topped it off!

I grew up in NYC. I have since lived and worked in Paris, a kibbutz in Israel, New England, New Mexico. I settled in San Francisco for several years but migrated to Oregon for a teaching position in Salem. I missed the water. I have been an avid sailor and scuba diver with many hours at the helm in SF Bay, the San Juan and Gulf Islands and the Caribbean, or under the sea in the Caribbean. I’m partial to warm water. When I retired 12 years ago I moved to Astoria. It’s been a long journey. The water is cold, but the people are warm and the views are unbeatable. I am currently working on turning my doodling into an art form.
