Description

The Victorian Blue Room is the large master bedroom in the Historic Russell-Farrenkopf house. Comfortably appointed with elegant furnishings this room has a queen bed, shared bath. A beautifully restored architecturally significant home in the Hawley-Green National Historic District. Walk to Syracuse University or downtown.
There are other rooms available. The Mustard Seed, Mauve Room and Skylight Green Room and a suite with 2 bedrooms as a private rental.

Returned to its former splendor, the Russell-Farrenkopf House welcomes guests for overnight, weekend, and extended stays in a smoke-free and pet-free environment. Rates are per room and
include utilities, Wi-Fi, and laundry facilities.

The house has four bedrooms, that are individually rented with three baths, a fully-equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, parlor with enclosed solarium, and a private porch. This room shares a bath.

Located in the historic Hawley-Green neighborhood, the Russell- Farrenkopf house is near major highways, and walking distance to downtown, Armory Square, Syracuse University, SUNY-Upstate, hospitals, the Carrier Dome, and cultural centers along the Con- nective Corridor. Fantastic restaurants and services can also be found right in Hawley-Green (ask your host for recommendations).

A stay at the Russell-Farrenkopf House is a journey in time.
Built in 1865 for a prominent Syracuse building contractor and his family to overlook the Erie Canal and na- scent city of Syracuse, the grand styles of the Victorian era--French Second Empire and Italianate--are exem- plified in this design, characteristic of Horatio Nelson White, architect for many landmark structures in New York and San Francisco. Over the years as the city grew, the house saw the best of times turn. By 1975 it had become an abandoned tenement with many of its treasured features obscured by the grime of neglect and indifference. It might even have been razed had it not been for the uncompromising passion of Joan Farrenkopf, who took the restoration of this great house to heart.

Two Kitchens, dining rooms, a music room with piano and front parlor. The house is available to roam.

We happily make reservations or will help you find your way in the city.

Riley's is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. There is a Tapas bar and restaurant Laci's at the end of the next block as well as Syracuse Soapworks Gift shop. There is Julia's restaurant in the next block around the corner as well as a grocery store and Thano's import market that has phenomenal wine and cheeses aged on the premise.

Close to the University, yet out of the congested city. Walking distance to Syracuse University, Downtown and Hospitals.

This is a one-of-a-kind Airbnb experience. The house is magnificent, full of beautifully restored Victorian splendor. Each room has its own feel; I had a pleasant stay in the Blue Room. The company was even better though- Rhonda and Joan will do everything they can to make you feel like you're at home. A nice walk to SU campus, and a very short drive to anywhere else. Great location, great price, and a truly unique place to be. I highly recommend Joan's home for all visitors.

Our second time at this beautiful home. It's impossible for the pictures and description to capture the energy and ambiance of this special place. My all time favorite AirBnB home.

I highly recommend this house for a Syracuse stay and Joan and Al as AirBnB hosts. We have found our "Home away from home" when we visit our family living near Syracuse. The house is lovely! We did not try the local dining recommendations but hope to during our next visit. Thank you to Rhonda, who helped us feel welcome.

Our hosts made us feel SOOO welcome. It was a great experience. We hope to come and visit again! Rhonda, the property manager was beyond helpful and extended herself and gave us such a sweet welcome and was a great resource... from finding a last minute person to get our clothes steamed for our wedding to helping handle some personal issues! A sweet woman!

You are both so welcome. It was delightful hosting you! Please come back to visit again. I would also like to connect in regards to your freelance marketing. Tami told me you did so! Now it all makes sense and yes I do have questions! Best to you both, Joan, Rhonda and Tami

What a lovely home! We had a great stay as we moved our daughter into her first year at Syracuse. The bed was super comfortable, the shower water pressure was great, the coffee and cookie/muffins were delicious. We hope to be back soon!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience! The house is gorgeous and welcoming. Everyone felt very much at home! My only regret is I found this treasure while searching for accommodations for my daughter's graduation from Syracuse!

Hi I am an artist and subtle energy therapist. I am currently in the MFA program at Syracuse University. My husband and I are sailors. We enjoy nature and the water.
I am devoted to historic restoration. It started in Syracuse's Hawley-Green Historic District. The Russell-Farrenkopf House was restored and now hosts Airbnb! The beautiful victorians are an inspiration!
Al land surveyed on the island of St.John for many years and knows it well. He works on wooden boats. We have lived in a boat, treehouse and called a tent on a platform home. We love life and enjoy great people.
