This is a great spot right in the country and would be a brilliant place to stay in the summer. Prior to the stay Hew was communicative and responded quickly to my questions. The room has its own entrance so feels really private. the room was clean and well appointed. We were staying at the Missing Sock for a wedding and I have to say it was a beautiful wedding and very smoothly run by Hew and his team. Hew was also a very friendly and welcoming host. He let us change room on the first night when I was concerned about the noise from a private party and getting my beauty sleep. This would be a great place to stay to explore the Cambridge countryside, I'd love to come back particularly in the summer and lounge in the beautiful garden. the children at the wedding were also very impressed by the garden and wooden pirate ship n the play area! Unfortunately there was no one around when we left, so just pushed the key under the door, I hope this was ok? Thank you for a lovely chilled wedding!

The host canceled this reservation 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

Arrived at around six and went to the bar to collect key to room. Was made to feel very welcome. The room was small - as expected - clean, tidy and warm. Facilities were good and exactly as described. WiFi was poor, but I overheard a staff discussion about there being a problem that particular night. Had a very good, and good value, dinner in the bar. At night it was a little noisy due to an event in the pub, but it was by no means intrusive. Again, I expected this. Its is located in a quiet neighborhood, some distance from amenities such as shops, etc. I recommend.

The room was clean, tidy and nicely appointed. We were pretty much left to our own devices which was fine, although the staff did help us book a taxi when we required it. Unfortunately the heating in the room did not work - we were provided with a space heater but this was very noisy and kept periodically turning on and off, which led to a disrupted night's sleep. The other thing to note is that breakfast was pretty basic (a bowl of cornflakes each left in our room the night before) and didn't completely meet our expectations of a "small continental breakfast". I think if we had stayed here in the high season we would have found the service and facilities to be a bit better - as it was I think we probably could have found better value for money at a hotel closer to the town centre (which also would have saved us the trip in and out).

This is a B&B located in a party venue next to a main road. The venue itself is very quirky and it is only busy on weekends with parties that could go on till midnight. On weekdays, it is very quiet. The room itself isn't particularly large. The bed is smaller than a queen sized bed which isn't what we expected. The bathroom is rather small as well. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable. The water pressure in the shower is good, and a small portable heater is available for your use. If you need to keep the windows open, bear in mind that the road is next to the room so traffic noise could be an issue if you are a light sleeper. A small breakfast is provided daily. If you can overlook the room/bed size and traffic noise issues, this is the place for you to stay.

Hugh and Simon were great hosts. We were welcomed warmly upon arrival and they were extremely accommodating and relaxed. The site itself is very creative; we loved the sculpture park feel. Our shepherd's hut was wonderful too. Light, bright and cosy (with wood burning stove and shutters). This has got to be one the best places to stay in the UK: thank you!

Hugh was fantastic this weekend, very welcoming and I love his view on life. The location is great for Newmarket and/or Cambridge and having the ducks and chickens around was a really nice break in the Countryside. The ethos of the missing sock is fantastic and I would definitely visit again. The local pub does a cracking steak too!

We have five unique rooms. Two are small doubles with en suites, one a Family Room with a double, single futon bed, and a cot sleeping up to five, which is also en-suite. The Family Room also has a small kitchenette. There are also two cosy insulated modern Shepherds Huts. One with a double bed and a single bed, sleeping up to three, one with a double bed. Both have log burning fires for heating although are not en-suite. There is a shared shower room and toilet for the huts, 30 sec walk to loo, less if desperate.

We are run by a small team plus volunteers. We are a social enterprise, all our profits fund our charity, The Missing Kind. We are all well travelled. A mix of artists, handy people, writers and business types. We are unique venue and will always greet you with a warm welcome! We look forward to meeting you.
But please note we are 5 miles from Cambridge city centre with a crap bus service in the evenings and on Sundays, our double beds are 4'-6" size and are double rooms are of cozy size, over and out! Travel well.
