Lovely location, very tropical! Separate suite provides privacy for couples. Fantastic outdoor spaces ( bug spray suggested ) - relaxing hammock, comfortable seating.

It was a nice private family place to stay near Pahoa.

House is very secluded. If you are looking for privacy, you found it. Nathan was very accommodating and answered all our questions, including trivia about the Island. I also liked the fact that he informed me about the landscaper and also himself coming by. Close to ride pools and hot pond if you have kids. Mine loved them and also all the free coconuts and mangos at the hot pond that just fall there. Great times to be had by all. Mahal and Aloha Nathan. See you next trip.

This house is in a great location to visit all of the beautiful Puna and VNP sites. Plenty of room in this well equipped house. The separate apartment and washer/dryer were much appreciated. The only slightly negative comment is that there is only AC in the master suite but the nights were cool so the fans did the trick.

We loved our stay in the Pahoa kipuka! The house is so comfy and nice - it was perfect for our large group. Everyone loved it (the rain sounds amazing on the roof!) We rented both the main house and the ohana studio so we had plenty of places to sleep. The lanai and the open living room was awesome to hang out in, and the kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of towels and pillows. We loved the secluded yard and the porches that wrap around the entire house (cute little geckos all around) The washer and drier worked great and we're so nice to have. If you are familiar with the Big Island you know that you'll expect to drive a bit to get to different places, but it was in a great spot for us to go to some of our favorite places like Volcano National Park, Hilo and Ka'u. We were excited to discover the warm natural pool at Ahalanui at and the Kapoho tide pools (amazing snorkeling) only 10 - 15 minutes away! Nathan was a great host and easy to get in touch with. We couldn't be happier with out stay and if we do a big group trip like this again we'd definitely come back to our "Hawaii house" as 3 year old Zelda calls it :)

Nathan's house is very spacious with a fully equipped kitchen. It has a nice garden and during the night you can hear the wildlife. Would suggest to come here only, if you have your own car, because it's secluded. Highly recommended.

After visiting the big island in 2012 we decided to make the move from San Francisco to Hawaii Island (The Big Island). Although we had been to Hawaii many times previously, it was during that trip in 2012 we discovered that this little piece of paradise could be our home. No, we aren't retired, and we still work a full week running our business on the mainland. However, since moving here, the days don't seem as long and breathing seems so much easier.
