Seeing as we will be out of town whilst you enjoy our home, it is unlikely that we will be able to meet you. However, you will be met by our friend who will introduce you to the home and make sure you get settled in and well acquainted with your surroundings. Additionally, we provide a weekly cleaning service to ensure that the plants are watered, linens are laundered and the home is Hoovered and cleaned.
"A town full of independent, individual shops that are brimming with fabulous crafts and creations" – The Lady Magazine
"Talk about a wake up call. When it comes to buzz, most towns should want what Frome is having" – Oxford Mail
Highlighted as one of the ‘Best Places to Live in Britain' – The Times
"St. Catherine's Hill has turned into one of the South West's most popular shopping destinations. For artisanal wares, antiques, vintage clothes, haberdashery, hardware, the old, the original and the unusual, it is very rare to find anywhere quite like it in the world. For quality, service and charm it beats Portobello Road in London hands down. It is a creative, bohemian alley: a firm rebuttal to the bland and boring high streets now monopolised by huge brands." - The Food Bugle
"Packed to the rafters with artisans, historic buildings, beautiful independent shops and creative people, Frome is a wonderfully vibrant and eventful town. It is the perfect destination for discerning tourists looking for something just a little bit different on visits to Somerset." - Discover Frome Website
Our personal favourites in town are:
The Frome Independent Market which brings thousands of visitors each month and a multitude of artists, antique dealers, jewelry designers, craftspeople, food producers and musical talent.
The Cheese and Grain which is an amazing music venue, cafe, bar, workspace, marketplace and community hub.
Frome Festival - July 3rd to 12th with its Food Feast and Children's Festival and a variety of cultural events with music concerts, poetry, lectures, walks and workshops.
If you wanted to venture out of town, the surrounding area of Somerset has so much to offer. Check out the pond and pool at The Lighthouse in Tytherington, The Walled Garden or the 2-hour valley walk in Mells, the historical Cathedral of Wells, the National Trusts' house and gardens of Stourhead, the Safari park at Longleat, the view from Cley Hill, the world-class galleries of Hauser & Wirth in Bruton, and of course the tourist attractions of Bath, Stonehenge and Glastonbury.
As you can see, there is no shortage of things to see or do in this thriving part of England.
Within the town, most everything is walking distance. There is regular bus service to Bath and surrounding towns, as well as a train station which is a 10 min walk from our house. For more regular rail service, you might want to consider Westbury station which is about a 15 min drive away (book taxi in advance).
For detailed information about traveling to/from Frome, visit the Frome Town Council website and click on the "Public Transport" link in the Local Services menu.
Please note that our home is regularly inhabited by 2 small hypoallergenic dogs. They do not go on the beds and they do not shed, and though there should be no trace of them in the house, it is important to know IN CASE you are allergic in any way.
Also, since we have a baby, we do have the usual baby items ie. highchair, cot, bouncy chair, etc. We are happy to provide these during your stay, but unless we are notified, we will store them away.
No smoking in the house, but you are welcome to smoke on the patio outside.
