Accès des voyageurs

This is a whole house -there are 2 wood fires, one for cooking and one for cosying up on cool nights. You are free to wander the property, sit by the creek and watch for platypus, borrow the binoculars and spy on the local native birds doing their thing. If you like to walk in the bush, we have many walking tracks, and you can access several water holes for a dip in the stream if you are brave enough!

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We are close by, but you won't know we are there at all, unless you need us we will stay out of the way, but if you need help you can easily find us!We are very happy to give you suggestions for how to get around, what the local attractions are, how to use the wood- fired stove to cook up a storm, and what animals and birds you are most likely to see where.

Autres remarques

Our property is not pet friendly, and will require a fair level of fitness to get the most out of your stay.If your idea of a perfect holiday is complete privacy, and nothing but nature surrounding you, this is the place for you! Young adult children will be fine in our space, not suitable for younger age groups as there are uneven surfaces outside, and stairs inside.

This is great place to stay in the bush with an exciting drive to get there! The interior is very personal and it is amazing how she all set it up herself. Kimbra is a lovely host and it's easy to share ideas with her and Volker.

Kimbra is a great host who are very considerable and helpful. Her place is the one that you will definitely regret if you missed. Just remember to hire a 4wd drive and avoid going at night.

The Bonzaki house is such a lucky find! If you have the chance you should stay there! Not far out of New Norfolk, but 8 km up a windy dirt road in a canyon surrounded by bush land, you come to the end of the road and see this amazing home perched on the canyon slope and can’t believe you get to stay in this place. You feel like you are on some frontier in the past. The wood burning stove used to heat the house and cook works amazingly well for both jobs. Kimra provided us with lots of food for breakfast, and gave a thorough explanation of how to use the home before basically leaving us alone to enjoy the place and the surrounding lands. She was helpful but unobtrusive. The water heater was exceptionally good and it the shower super modern - made it nice to take a good hot shower after the previous two days spent walking around in a national park. They have a productive garden full of food and cute bumble bees, and a path from the house leads in just a few minutes walk to a dainty waterfall (i imagine it would look super nice during spring and early summer when everything is lush and a lot of water was running in the creek) that you will have to yourself. The windows in the place are huge and afford great views of the mountains and canyon scenery and at night the huge window by the bed provided amazing view of the night sky. The Bonsai house really gives you the feeling of being transported to a different time and a different life if you let it. Can’t wait to stay there again.

Highly recommend! Don't expect a regular airbnb house, staying at Kimbra's place is an unforgettable experience. Perfect house to relax, read a book, enjoy a Tasmanian wine, and get mesmerised by the views of the valley. And then there is all the interesting aspects of being a self sustainable house, Stanley the woodstove that heats the house, water, and food, also the electricity is from the creek, and composting. The only problem is once you get there you don't want to leave and visit Hobart...but don't miss MONA!

Kimbra was very helpful and flexible with our booking as we came in quite late. The house is stunning, with incredible views over the valley. The landscape is lovely, deep in the Australian bush but so clse to Hobart as well. We enjoyed swimming at the waterfall and wandering around the property. This was probably the best airbnb that we've ever stayed at, a wonderful property and home that I would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys a more rustic stay.

What an incredible place! Beautifully remote with breathtaking scenery. The house was gorgeous. We loved getting the hang of the wood fired stove! Don't expect a spotless modern place - this is a house that's delightfully rustic, but very comfortable with all that you could need. It was great to just relax in nature and spend hours looking out at the beautiful view, or walking around the property and wallaby spotting. We didn't leave in the 3.5 days we were there, and it was perfect. Kimbra and Volker were very friendly and helpful too!
