My Dutch colonial home is an oasis in the city. A side porch overlooks a lawn and garden areas. Yours is a quiet room on the second floor.

Guests are free to use the kitchen and dining room. One and a half baths are shared with other housemates. Washing machine and dryer available for $2 per load.

I enjoy meeting travelers, especially international travelers, and can help you get acquainted with the city or neighborhood. I'll provide a vegetarian breakfast to start your day.
Let me know if you'd like me to assist you in getting to and from the airport, train, or bus stations.

The Elmwood neighborhood is just a ten-minute drive or bus ride from downtown Providence with an array of clubs and restaurants. This south side neighborhood is culturally and economically diverse with large populations of Dominican, Southeast Asian, and Cape Verdeans. Business owners on the main street come from over 12 countries. You can walk to Dominican, Southeast Asian, and Portuguese markets, diners, and restaurants.
We're located in one of two historic districts in Elmwood with Victorian-era homes. It's a 15-minute walk to the gates of Roger Williams Park, an elaborately landscaped 427-acre city park with a botanical center, zoo, carousel and walking or jogging paths.

Bus #20 stops half a block away. The bus runs between the airport and Kennedy Plaza in downtown Providence, where you can transfer to other buses throughout the city and state.

Overnight street PARKING is not allowed without a permit. A permit may be available for your use. Otherwise, tenants and guests will manage the order of parking in driveway so everyone can get out easily each morning.

I enjoy making people feel comfortable in my home. I also enjoy traveling. A trip in 2015 to Iceland for 12 days was a marvel with continued opportunities for taking pictures. Staying at guesthouses with shared kitchens was a great way to meet other travelers. I've been an ESL teacher, a community organizer, and a curriculum developer with consulting experience in several countries, particularly in Sierra Leone (see photos on flickr/khlynsky). I chair a neighborhood association, manage a monthly book sale at the our library, and write a monthly newsletter. It's hard to hear music without wanting to dance, especially swing and Argentine tango. A native English speaker, I can get by in Spanish.
