We live in the house, welcome our guests and enjoy making them feel comfortable and at home. We love meeting new people and enjoy the interaction. However, we are sensitive to personal space so let our guests dictate how much involvement they prefer from us.
Fernleigh is a comfortable home on the Avenues, on the peaceful, northern fringe of Katoomba, beyond which is the magnificent expanse of the Blue Mountains National Park.
Surrounded by bushland and abundant birdlife, Fernleigh is away from the tourist busses and holiday crowds, yet only 7 minutes drive to the hub of the townships of Katoomba and Leura, with all they have to offer: shops to browse; restaurants; cafes; museums; Scenic World; Echo Point; The Three Sisters and the spectacular scenery of The Blue Mountains National Park.
Take your choice of the many nearby bush walks. The track to Minni-Ha-Ha Falls (2.7km return), in the beautiful Yosemite Park, is just down the end of the road, off Mike Eades Reserve. Walk through the beautiful, botanically diverse heath and woodland with hanging swamps, creeks, waterfalls and breathtaking views of hills, ridges and ravines.
For climbers Little Italy is just near the Falls, The Den or Sunny Side, we are told, are steep, challenging and on good rock.
The area around Minni-Ha-Ha Falls is home to the rare and endangered Blue Mountains Water Skink and the Giant Dragonfly, with a wingspan of up to 11cm, as well as many rare flowering plants. Lambertia Formosa or the Mountain Devil grows abundantly here.
Come and enjoy the peace, the magnificent scenery and crisp fresh mountain air of Katoomba. Feel at home as our guests at Fernleigh. We look forward to meeting you.
The 697 bus runs throughout the day in a loop to the Katoomba township. There is also the hop-on hop-off Blue Mountains Explorer Bus which can take you to all the major attractions around Katoomba & Leura.
Fernleigh is on the other side of the highway from the township of Katoomba so away from the hustle bustle and tourist busses. The local bus runs hourly to the town and train station. Cabs are reasonably priced and respond quickly (there is no Uber). If you don't have a car we are happy to pick you up or drop you off at the station and recommend the hop-on hop-off Blue Mountains Explorer Bus to get around to the sites.
Normal courtesy and consideration, no smoking in the house, pay for breakages, respect for neighbours regarding noise. No pets in guest room.

Hi, I’m Tina Mulholland. I live in Katoomba NSW, overlooking the bush. I love the wildlife and the birds that visit each day. I adore animals, enjoy bush walking and being on the harbour.
I’ve been married since 1988 and am blessed with two beautiful, young adult children, a daughter and son. Motherhood has been the highlight of my life. Empty Nesting is a recently acquired experience.
I’m a home-based graphic designer and, for 20 years, ran an illustration agency in Sydney till 2003, when I decided to pursue other interests.
I studied Homeopathy, Psychology, Nutrition, Anthroposophical Health and Healing, various philosophies and healing modalities, online marketing, as well as lots of workshops in, among others, Holistic Psychology and Your Hidden Potential. I also enjoyed classes in Tai Chi, life drawing, pastels, meditation, African dancing etc. I sang in an a Capella choir for many years (looking for one in Katoomba). I’ve a keen interest in personal development, spirituality and the wellbeing of our Earth and its inhabitants. I am fascinated by genealogy and local history, stories and storytelling.
More recently I have worked as a clutter clearer/organiser which I have enjoyed enormously. I find pleasure in volunteering in my local community.
A Sydney girl all my life, moving to the Blue Mountains at the beginning of 2015 has begun a whole new volume of my life. I absolutely love it here and am delighted to welcome visitors to our home who come to experience all the Mountains have to offer.
My motto? I have a few 'Do it Now!', 'Ask', ‘Be kind whenever possible’, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’.
