Description

Le logement

Kia Ora and Welcome to New Zealand!

We offer an understated yet comfortable bedroom in central Auckland.

The room is on the ground floor and has a queen size bed, desk and lamplight for those late night calls back home. The room also has a wardrobe (with extra blankets), chest of drawers and bed side tables to make you feel at home.

Accès des voyageurs

We have a large garden and upstairs deck which are both nice places to sit, relax and drink a wine or tea, especially during a stunning sunset.

There is a communal lounge area with a television and adjoining sunroom which is a perfect nook for night time reading and has a replete bookshelf.

We also have a well appointed kitchen which you are welcome to use and can set a aside a shelf in the cupboard, fridge and freezer if you would like to cook a dish or two. You are also welcome to help yourself to a continental breakfast of muesli, good old kiwi Weetbix, toast or you can always fry up an egg if you wish. Of course tea and coffee is always freely available!

The laundry is also open for use.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We will generally not disturb you, however we always love to give advice to international travellers on where to go during their stay in NZ (often picking up lost travellers around Auckland and helping them on their way) and are happy to help with some ideas on planning your trip.

We offer complete privacy, but do also like to chat and hear about others journeys across the globe.

Le quartier

Meadowbank is an idyllic suburb that really is close to everything. Although a lovely little cul-des-ac suburb we are well connected to all public transport routes. It takes 8-10 minutes to the city (Britomart Station) by train or if you like to walk we have a beautiful walkway that can connect you to Orakei suburb and subsequently the waterfront in 40 minutes.

A short walk down or up the street and you have great views of the city skyline.

We are also within walking distance (15 minutes) from local cafes, restaurants, shops and a large supermarket.

You can also take the train (10 minutes) or a 15 minute drive to the Sylvia Park shopping complex which has more than 200 stores from fashion, gifts & homeware - to movies, books and dining.

It is a pretty great spot to start your Auckland journey and explore what Auckland has to offer as it is ultra convenient in terms of shopping and transport.

Just a few of the things that you can do:

- Catch a bus and head to One Tree Hill - walk through Cornwall park anhead to the top of the mountain for some awesome Auckland views

- Take a train into the City and get the ferry across to Devonport or if youmore adventurous climb Rangitoto

- Bus to the Museum and have a picnic in the Auckland Domain

- We are also a short 10-15 minute drive to Mission Bay/St Heliers Beaches and on a fine day you can walk to the iconic Bastion Point taking in the lovely waterfront views along the way.

- Enjoy the Auckland nightlife only a 10minute train ride away

- Or just chill out in our quiet suburb and at night you are welcome to sit on the upstairs deck and drink in the occasional stunning sunsets we have

Transports

The motorway is only a 10 minute (if that) drive away which will help connect you to anywhere else you might want to go.

Trains leave regularly for the city and the station is only a 2 minute walk away. It takes 8-10 minutes to get to the city centre (Britomart Station). It is only one stop from the city.

Autres remarques

As I sometimes work odd hours I will not always be home to chat with and assist you, but please make yourself at home and feel free to come and go as you wish.

Règlement intérieur

Our home is smoke free on the inside, you may however smoke outside in the garden.

We are pretty flexible about check in/out times, just let us know and we will try work something out.

I had a very enjoyable stay at Ashleigh's home. I was welcomed and experienced kind hospitality. The facilities were everything I required. Trains and bus services are close by and the area is quiet. I was visiting family in Auckland, and their house was very close by. All in all it worked out really well for me. I recommend staying with Ashleigh. I intend to return myself. Nigel

Our stay with Ashleigh and her Dad Ron was a really lovely experience and we would recommend them in a heartbeat. As it was our first Airbnb experience, we were a little nervous but they both made us feel at home straight away. They were beyond accommodating with Ron taking us out to some of the viewing points dotted around Auckland, that we wouldn't have got to see without Ron's help. Ron also took us to collect our hire car on our last day which was extremely helpful! The room had everything you would need with a big comfy bed and private bathroom just down the hall. They also provided us with breakfast and let us use the washing facilities. The location is perfect with the train station just a two minute walk away with direct trains ( just two stops) into Auckland every 20 minutes. We loved our stay here and thank you Ron and Ashleigh for making us feel so welcome.

Ashleigh Ilich and her father Ron Ilich were truly wonderful hosts who made my stay completely feel at home. They were more than happy to help me in every possible way to help me integrate and settle down into the kiwi lifestyle. The house was tidy and had all amenities as mentioned in the listing. The location of the house was ideal as it was just 2 min walk to the metro/bus stop which comes in really handy if you want to use public transport to get around in Auckland. The Auckland CBD is just a 8-10 minute ride in the metro. I am really happy to have chosen this place for my stay as it could not have got any better! I will for sure stay here again in the future should the need arise and highly recommend this place for pure hospitality and warmth!

Recent University graduate keen to see the world before settling down in anything too serious. I am indecisive so I try my best to do everything! Always learning, but never mastering, new things.
