À propos de ce logement

Be under no illusion this is like camping under a wooden roof .

Boatel guests share the boat roofed shed with other guests and residents and no one has exclusivity on this structure.

The boat is old and dusty with the occasional spider.
An unusual/ quirky experience!!
The views are stunning
Sorry no dogs
Want to see shed of the year 2013 winner?? its now on channel 4 demand . amazing spaces shed of the year first series episode 3 final (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)

Le logement

Set in an acre of wild flowers and up a mountain .
The Space
Set in the beautiful Dyfi Valley Biosphere the Boatel is literally a bed in a boat! Not to mention a beautiful open plan cooking and living space – all in a shed AKA the Boat Roofed Shed. Recognised for its amazing and unique qualities, it even won the infamous Cuprinol’s Shed of the Year in 2013. It’s our absolute pride and joy and we love sharing it with our guests!
We’ve hosted comedy festivals, exclusive concerts and curious tourists in our little mountain hideaway and Alex (aka DJ Badly) even uses it to prepare his sets for festivals such as Glastonbury.
We built the shed in 2012 using recycled materials and it was our first major project. Alex is normally a rubbish DIY person, so designing and building the whole thing ourselves was a great achievement and we couldn’t have been happier to win both the ‘Cuprinol Shed of the Year’ Unique Category and the Overall category in 2013.
From the shed you can see across Cader Idris (part of the Cambrian Mountains of Snowdonia). It’s so beautiful even in the maddest of weathers, you can close the door, light the candles ,pop some kindling in the wood burner and be snug and warm in moments.
Our guests all love staying in the Boatel - they love the peace, the location, the structure, the ambience, and the curios (Alex is a big collector and has been on antiques roadshow with his Poole Pottery collection!). As well as the relentless throwing of Frisbees for the dogs!

Autres remarques

The field kitchen is in the boat shed which has a fridge and basic cooking facilities. You can either wash up al fresco or come to the house to wash up.
There is a compost loo and an outdoor solar powered shower which is attached to the back of the house that you access via the back or front garden and an outside flushing toilet. You are also welcome to use the loo and shower in the house too.
It is very peaceful here, ( and occasionally windy)
You’ll need to bring your own towels.

Please note that we have our own private water supply from a spring. Our water is ultra violet and particulate filtered before it leaves the tap!

Thank you for braving the mountain hideaway !! . A few things you should know :
1) The field kitchen is in the boat shed ( winner of shed of the year 2013!! no less) which has a fridge and basic cooking facilities. You can either wash up al fresco or come to the house to wash up .
2)There is a compost loo and an outdoor solar powered show attached to the back of the house that you access via the back or front garden and an outside dunny without a door - its blown off ( cefn coch gwyllt means red back WILD !) You are also welcome to use the loo and shower in the house too .
3)It is very peaceful here , ( and occasionally windy)
The dogs may demand that you play frisbee .
The cats will want to say hello and chickens will ignore you !

4) As a rule, I dont provide towels but can do if absolutely necessary
5) We ask people to take their rubbish back as much as is possible.

We are a very remote farmhouse and recycle as much as we can.
The final thing we ask of guests is to strip their beds and put the linen in the bags provided .

6) If the weather is fowl we have a bed made up in the 1600 /17thC long house . as an extremely wet weather option.
7) Suggest you bring appropriate wet weather/ out door clothing just in case
phew - long list !
Looking forward to meeting you, kind regards
Sarah and Alex

We had a really lovely time at the Boatel - it's a truly unique place in a truly beautiful and remote setting. Loved the quirkiness of it all. Was a doubley great surprise to unexpectedly see some old friends who live in a house on the site - a very small world indeed!

Lovely weekend. Thank you! We loved staying in the boat and enjoying the evenings with the wood burner in the shed. We even managed to cook some yummy meals in the new kitchen. Will definitely be recommending to friends and will hopefully be back to stay again. We're lucky to have found this place!

I booked the Boatel as a Birthday present to my wife, Jenny. We love the outdoors and the Boatel is ideally suited as a location close to the Mountains, yet also close to town (10 minute drive) for supplies or food out. We enjoy walking and running and trails near by are great for this, although relatively hilly compared to most places. We were tucked a little out the way on a hillside with stunning views. If you can factor in arrival time with a nice sky, be sure to catch the sunset. The Boatel comprises of two boats, one for the bed with space for bags and the upside down 'Shed of the Year' for relaxing in and admiring the view. We found the bed comfortable and there's a small log burner in the shed which makes it a cosy hideaway. Food-wise, there's a double gas hob and gas oven in a cool trailer-come kitchenette to be self suficient. There's also a sink for washing up. We popped into town one day for Pizza at the Wynnstay. The pizza was nice, but we'd probably explore a different place for food next time. We've been told about a pub in the village down the road from the Boatel, which was probably a better option. Having stayed in this neck of the woods a few times now, we'll be sure to have a look at the Boatel as an option again.

A really lovely place to stay, with spectacular views, friendly hosts and lovely accommodation. The boatel itself was comfortable and warm, the boat-shed was a lovely place to relax and enjoy the spectacular views, and the animals were all very friendly. Highly recommended.
