Haglathe House is a Grade II listed building set across three floors with sea views from the top floor. The whole house is furnished to a high standard and it benefits from beamed ceilings, wooden floors and open fire in the first floor living room.

Wonderful place to have a look in Whitby. Good position near the sea (a little difficult for driving because of the tough road). Have all the basic facilities you need except washing machine. The rooms are clean. Real a nice choice for a family. Liz is helpful and willing to pro…
Haglathe House is a delightful period property in a fantastic location. It is well equipped and maintained, and while its decor and amenities are modern, it retains an attractively old fashioned charm. Highlights for us included walking a few metres up the road for a superb view…
What a beautiful house, had everything we could possibly need, the kitchen and living areas were lovely, relaxing but practical and the bedrooms were spacious with very very comfortable beds and lovely clean and fresh bedding. The whole house was spotlessly clean, the location wa…
Lovely house, very close to the beach, the 199 steps and shops and amenities. The house is on 3 floors and had ample space for 4 adults and a child. Little things make a big difference, like dishwasher tablets, dish cloths and a decent bottle opener! The house was clean and tidy …
Haglathe House itself is quirky and ideally situated for visitors. The owners unfortunately are less than helpful or courteous when problems arise. We had no heating or hot water on the evening of our 2nd night and were therefore not able to shower or wash in warm water on Sunday…

Jayne and her family arrived at Haglathe House on Friday afternoon. I received a message from her as I was going to bed on Saturday night saying that the heating wouldn´t go higher than 18 and they had no hot water. I couldn't understand how they could have heating (albeit only going up to 18) but no hot water - I would have assumed that the heating wouldn't be working either if there was a boiler problem. She also said that the shower was hot, which I couldn't understand. She was insisting that it was an electric shower and that's why it was OK, but I know that the water in the shower comes from the boiler so I was trying to ascertain how the water in the shower could possibly be hot - that's why I was asking so many questions (I don't think I was being abrasive but it was midnight on Saturday). When Jayne finally believed me that it wasn't an electric shower, she tried the shower and told me there was no hot water there either. That is when I apologized that there was nothing I could do until after they had left in the morning. Concerning the dirty stained quilt, sofa bed and bath - I couldn't take issue with my housekeeper when I hadn't heard from the guests until they had been in the house for over 30 hours. If I had been informed that there were cleanliness problems on Friday, I would have sent our housekeeper to the house immediately to put it right. Concerning the Nest, it operates on a timer so overnight while there is no movement it would revert back to 9 degrees, which is the summertime setting. It makes me unhappy when our guests don't enjoy their stay at Haglathe House and I take all complaints seriously but in this instance, there was nothing I could do to rectify the situation until the next day. I apologize again to Jayne.
The Cottage is cosy and stylish. We liked to be next to the Kipper smoker. We expected better views, but it is really a beautiful location. In nearly 2 minutes you are on the beach. Nice livingroom but it is maybe a bit small for 6 adults. We loved our stay in Liz cottage.
We loved staying at 20 Henrietta Street and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a Whitby stay. We will certainly be returning!
We're semi-retired and like to keep busy. Love the lifestyle and culture over here - not to mention the weather.
