I really enjoyed my stay in Markel's apartment. It's massive and well situated. I could walk everywhere I needed to within 20 Minutes. The hosts are responsive and leave great local tips. Would defiantly stay there again.

The place feels very home-like. It is well located in walking distance to main attractions. Big Market in 5 minutes walking distance, small supermarkets, bakeries in 1 minute walking s Monica greeted us very warmly. She made sure in advance she knows when we are scheduled to arrive. She gave us lots of tips and suggestions, what and how we could use the apartment, and enjoy the area near by. Dining, transportation, etc. Internet wifi worked flawlessly with all our laptops and smartphones.

Very nice appartment in the middle of the lively Barcelona city, just out of the mainstream tourist area's (but close by, walking distance). We enjoyed our stay, found everything about the appartment to be in good order. If you come from a cooler region of this world, barcelona can be prety warm in July of August!

This is the host's living home, not a sterile for-rent flat. No problem with arrival although it was late, after midnight. It was a good tip to insist that the Taxi driver takes us right to the door, as they are reluctant to enter the narrow pedestrain streets of the Old Town. The flat has a great ambience of old (stone walls/rustic windows/old tile floor) and modern decor. Not posh/expensive, but with an arty, relaxing and lived-in feel. Quite large. Do note that the secondary bedroom is through the master bedroom, so good for families with kids (as the hosts have) but not great for 2 separate couples. It is on 1st floor with no elevator - easy flight of stairs. The area is a very good location, in the old town, surrounded by cafes/restaurants/small shops/markets. The host recommended Elsa and Fred for breakfast, and it was excellent ($$$), we returned for dinner. A bakery ($) and a local grocery are right next door, good wine shop ($$) is 20m away and a large food market Mercado de Santa Caterina ($-$$$) ca. 300m away - must go on your first day, be thrilled, and stock up on fruits/veggies/cheese/hams for your stay. The street outside can be loud with buzz of people talking at cafes, locals going on, shops opening at 7am (the shutters) but luckily no cars (pedestrian zone). After all you are in the centre of the city... We did not use the public transport - we walked sight-seeing since a lot of things are close, or caught a Taxi because for the four of us we could drive to the beach or Sagrada Familia for less than the cost of 4 metro tickets. All in all a good experience.

I'm originally from the Basque country and am now living with my Canadian partner and our children in Barcelona! I work as a technical architect and engineer all over Spain. My passion for sailing is what brought me close to the sea and for this Barcelona is ideal.
