This little cottage is a perfect retreat for couples.
Fladbury is on the Avon, has good riverside walks from the door, 2 great pubs and the best Pie Shop in the UK!
There are also many lovely villages and towns within easy reach.
We are not sure just when the cottage was built but it shows on a map of Fladbury dated 1789 so its at least 228 years old! The row of cottages may have belonged to the Church at one time and housed local families.
It is difficult to believe that a whole extended family with numerous children were brought up here, there does not seem to be enough space and the scale is very different to our modern homes. It is commonly termed a 'one up one down' cottage with a small kitchen and yard to the rear. There is no garden.
The staircase leading to the bedroom and bathroom is particularly narrow - beware those with broad shoulders!
The gas-fired stove gives a cosy glow and instant heat on chilly mornings and evenings
St John's Church dominates the centre of the village and summer Saturdays are often punctuated by pealing bells and bridal parties, a typical picture-postcard English village scene!
Accès des voyageurs
The accommodation is completely self-contained with on-street parking outside. Although we live only a few miles away we have a key safe on the door so that guests are not kept waiting when they arrive in the village.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
As a general rule we respect our guest's privacy. However we are always available to sort problems or give advice on great places to visit in the area.
You will find tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk awaiting you.
We also make sure that salt/pepper and olive oil/vinegar etc are always available.
The kitchen is small and has a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave oven and a plug-in single induction hob and small cooker for use on the worktop. Although the cooking facilites are limited, anyone who is used to cooking on a boat or a caravan etc, will have no problem.
There is a tiny yard behind the cottage with a rear entrance where cycles can be stored although some guests have found this to be 'tight'! We ask that cycles are not brought into or through the cottage.
As we don't wish to charge a cleaning fee, we hope guests will respect our cottage, treat it kindly and leave it in a good state.
Please ask if you want to bring your baby as there are restrictions that you would need to be aware of.
The cottage is strictly No Smoking and No dogs.
No bikes to be brought into or through the cottage - there is a rear pedestrian entrance so please ask for access details.
À partir du 23 décembre 2017 - 2 janvier 2018, la durée minimum de séjour est de 4 nuits.

Malcolm and I have been living in this area for over 30 years. We are very sociable, enjoy meeting up with friends, skiing and walking, especially long treks like Offa's Dyke, Cotswold Way and the Coast to Coast. We also enjoy travelling and our favourite destination so far is New Zealand!
