Private but close to all the action. Enjoy our river view and all the wildlife, the sound of the ocean and the cozy fireplace. Come for a stay in our family home, rich in the history of Seaside, and Piazza family history too!

Le logement

We have a beautiful, comfortable home in Seaside, Oregon on a large private lot. Due to family health conditions, we absolutely cannot have any pets or smoking in the house. We are less than one mile from the ocean, and the house has a beautiful river view! The upstairs bedrooms feature vintage (original) wallpaper and really cool patterned marmoleum (also original)! There are two newly remodeled bathrooms and a large country kitchen, fully stocked for cooking. We replaced the master bed mattress in 2016 and the other mattresses in July 2017. We also replaced all our pillows, linens, and comforters in July 2017 and purchased hypoallergenic, dust mite-free bed protectors. All the living room furniture, including the sofa sleeper was purchased July 2017. There are new towels in the upstairs bathroom and Egyptian cotton towels in the downstairs bathroom (purchased in 2016) as well as new beach towels (purchased July 2017). The cupboards near the kitchen table have a selection of games and puzzles. There is a warm and cozy gas fireplace in the living room, which features large picture windows with a view of the river, and a big screen TV. The TV has internet connectivity, featuring Netflix and other entertainment apps. The living room TV also has Chromecast to connect your computer or phone to the TV. And of course, there is wireless internet. We're right down the street from the Seaside Outlet Mall and movie theater, and a short walk to the Boardwalk and downtown area (1.25 miles). While you're here, you can drive into town and park near the turnaround if you want to be in the thick of things, but there's also a parking lot at the end of 12th Avenue with beach access. The beach is less crowded here. It's a short walk to the 12th Ave. beach (less than one mile). That's one of the things we love most about the house - cozy, comfortable and private, yet close to all the action! Please note that all rates include a 9.5% room tax charged by Clatsop County.

We are currently remodeling the garage to make more living space. It is locked, and will not be available during your stay. The entire house, minus the garage is available to you, as well as our entire property, which consists of the wooded lots next to the garage (100 x 100), our large yard between the house and the fire pit, and the two lots in front of the river (50 x 100) from the telephone pole in front of the neighbors yard to 100 ft. south. Please be careful on these lots - it's wetlands and there are fissures in the earth. The area by the telephone pole is solid earth with mowed grass and serves as a canoe launch.

I am available by phone or text during your stay and happy to answer any questions or help any way I can. I am often in Portland, but sometimes I stay on site in our garage, working on the remodel. The house itself is completely private and exclusive to you during your stay - the garage apartment has a separate entrance and I will be scarce if I'm on site, but available if you need me. I'm happy to socialize, or respect your privacy, as you prefer. I really want my guests to feel that they can reach out to me with any questions or needs during their stay, so please don't hesitate to call or text me anytime!

Autres remarques

This is not a party house. I do want to be clear about this. We have an older lady living next door, and neighbors across the street. It is important to us that the neighbors not feel that our guests are making excessive noise. It is also important to me that our home be kept clean and in good repair. Excessive drinking or drugs are NOT welcome. If you are a group of people looking for a place to party hearty, this is not the right place for you. Please respect this, as this is our family home and very valuable to us. Thank you.

NO PETS OR SMOKING IN THE HOUSE: Absolutely NO pets or smoking in the house due to severe health issues. You can smoke on the deck but no butts on the ground. No smoking near the woods around the house - FIRE HAZARD.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Our property goes from our house to the river to the LEFT side of the road (imagine the road continues straight to the river). Our neighbor's property is to the RIGHT of the road, all the way to the river. Our neighbor's name is David. He grew up in Seaside and is a really nice guy, but we want to respect his privacy, peace and quiet, and property boundaries. So all guests and their property needs to stay to the left of the road at all times, and noise in our house and yard needs to be kept to a minimum after 10 pm.

SAFETY ISSUE: The land near the river is swampy and can be dangerous. There are fissures in the earth that drop straight down. Be careful walking and always supervise children. If you take our canoe out, walk through the woods from our fire pit toward the neighbor's yard and turn toward the river to the right of the canoe (this is the imaginary road before you get to the neighbor's property). Head toward the telephone pole, where you will find PVC pipes hammered into the ground. You can tie off the canoe there, drop it in the water and launch the boat. If you have any questions about the property boundaries, please ask me.

SAND: Beach towels are on the top shelf in the downstairs bathroom. Dry them and shake them out OUTSIDE before bringing them into the house. Absolutely NO other towels or blankets may be taken to the beach. Please remove sandy or dirty shoes in the entry way. Sand is VERY hard to clean up in the house.

HOUSE CARE:
The housekeeper handles basic housecleaning. Clean up any spills or messes promptly. Let me know if there's any staining issues so I can make sure they're given extra attention.

When you leave:
- Load the dishwasher and turn it on.
- Strip used linens and leave the sheets in a pile on the beds. Separate the sheets from the blankets and comforters etc.
-Spread out any wet towels in the tub or over the shower or rod so they can dry.
-Set the thermostat for the furnace to 58 and make sure the fireplace is turned off.
-Take out the garbage.
-Lock up and put the key back in the lockbox.

Sentimental things are above kid height, please look but don't touch. This includes all the things above the kitchen sink (except salt, pepper, and sugar). These are family heirlooms (including the bingo and best mom mugs).

Things at kid level can be handled. Move things up high if it makes things easier with little kids and put them back before you leave.

Don't use the garbage disposal.
We are on a septic tank, only t.p. in the toilets.
No glass in the recycling.

Leave a note if anything needs extra attention (spills, something broke, etc.).
Use condiments, spices, teas etc., but replace anything you finish.

Use coasters in ALL rooms. This is the furniture of my husband's childhood. I know that nothing lasts forever, but we would like to preserve these pieces for our children and still be able to share them with you.

Use liners in the garbage cans if you empty garbage during your stay. There's a blue bag sock hanging in the utility room filled with small plastic bags for the small baskets, and kitchen bags under the sink in the kitchen.

Avoid moving furniture around. Be careful not to scratch the floors. (The marmoleum upstairs is original to the house and is literally irreplaceable). Return small things you move around to where you found them. Don't move the big rocks behind the doors where you find them. They protect the walls from the doorknobs.

The linens are made up fresh for your stay. Keep the linens, blankets, etc. on the bed where you find them. It's tough for the housekeeper to sort the linens out when things are moved around. She has a limited amount of time to clean.

For our third year we had a wonderful time at the house. Leila keeps the house up well, and the location fits our quite needs and enjoyment of space around us! Far funner than being in a hotel I think!

Me and my family stayed in this beautiful, quaint home for the weekend. The scenery is natural and beautiful. Big picture Windows overlook a nice river. We were visited by deer and pretty birds during our brief weekend stay. The house is nicely decorated vintage style and was done is very tastefully. The layout of the house provides a spacious feel that made it easy for all of us to relax and enjoy each other's company. The hostess was friendly, informative, available and attentive. We felt very comfortable in this stay! Overall a wonderful experience!

This is THE place to come to unwind with your family. The house has the space you want with the right mix of coziness from simpler times and modern conveniences. It is easy to either disconnect or stay connected as you wish. The house is fairly private and very quiet, being slightly removed from the buzzing part of town. It's an easy walk to the 12th St. beach access. The owner's family figures prominently in the decor which makes for a very family-centric feel. We loved it and will come back here next time we get the urge for Seaside.

My husband and I have two teenagers. We spent many happy years visiting with my mother-in-law at our home in Seaside. Now that she's passed, we hope to share our wonderful home with other families. We love spending time in Seaside, at the ocean, in our woods, at the fire pit, or at the kitchen table, playing board games or working on puzzles. We love especially cozying up to watch a good movie while the wind blows and the river flows outside the house. We have so many fond memories, it's hard to share them all. We've picked so many berries in the woods, played hide and seek, taken the canoe into town. It's great to have a place to relax and spend time with family. I'm Syrian by birth, and so my motto is the same as Syrians all over the world, Ahla wa Sahla! Come and be welcome!
