Le logement

The house was originally a one room cabin built in 1839 but has been added onto multiple times since then. There is a human-riding parrot cat and a flock of chickens in a mobile pen. It has a long driveway and is relatively secluded and quiet. Breakfast (and other meals!) can be provided and prepared for $5 / person (eggs or omelettes, hashed browns, and french toast are our specialties), with ingredients mostly from our gardens and chickens, though I can't guarantee it will be ready before 7:30. Ask if you want anything else, like fruit. We have a huge assortment of teas to choose from, and a portable tea tray for your room with electric kettle, mugs, and assortment of tea bags and coffee. Your room has a door to the bathroom and a door to a small entryway with a side door to the house. There are 7 acres of land, flower gardens, vegetable gardens, a roof garden, flowering trees, all surrounded by wooded areas. If you come in late February through early May you will see literally thousands of daffodils that nearly saturate the large yard area. It is quite impressive and quite likely a candidate for some kind of Guinness record. For more pictures and such you can check out our (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page: (URL HIDDEN)

Accès des voyageurs

Bathroom shared between downstairs guests (your bedroom has a door to the bathroom and a door to an entryway), high speed internet, wood stove, off-street parking, other stuff- just ask. The bedroom that is always available has some of our belongings that we keep in it, like some books, for instance. One closet has clothes in it, the other is available for your use. There will be an empty dresser for you, at least 8 empty shelves, and the top of the nightstand. Ideally, it will look like it does in the pictures. There is a screened in porch with chairs and table and couches in the living room, but most often people will be found in our large kitchen around the table. At night from 11:00PM - 7:00AM we might keep a door closed, restricting access to the living room to keep it quiet for our upstairs roommate while he is sleeping. There is a queen bed for the first two guests. If you bring a third guest, we can lay out a single memory foam 3 inch mattress on the floor of the bedroom, with sheets and blankets, for him or her. We have received positive feedback about this bed and think it is pretty comfortable. Let us know a bit ahead of time if you want microfiber sheets or silk pillowcases.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We are flexible about the amount of interaction with guests.

Autres remarques

The check in and check out times are just there in case we have another guest the day before or the day after. You can come any time after the check in time, and if you want to come earlier or stay later, ask us. Chances are that you can. Just ask about any other details. There is a cat door in the door between your bedroom and the bathroom, so if you want to keep cats out of your bedroom, keep the bathroom door closed.

We keep the cats inside, so please be sure to completely shut and latch all doors, because the cats can push them open and get out if they are not completely closed. No smoking please unless you walk far from the house and make sure the porch door is closed. No illegal drugs. If you do bring a dog we might ask that you keep it crated or in the outdoor kennel if it seems rambunctious. No loud dogs please. Hopefully your dog would get along well with cats. MOST important thing about dogs: please be sure your dog is tightly secured when outside to eliminate all risk of it attacking our chickens. A lot of dogs seem to want to do that. Please keep noise down to not wake others after 9:30 PM.

A homestead with heart not far away from great areas. Casual and well kept space by a kind and down-to-earth couple. Park near the standing logs to keep their one-way drive way clear. I heartily recommend: South to Pittsboro, especially if you're around the 1st day of the month when the main street open to all merchants and causes. On the way, and so close, is beautiful indie bookstore McIntrye Books. Northward, The Weavers Street Market co-op in Carrboro opens everyday at 7am if you miss out on the lovely Hidden Acres breakfast + need to be on the road. Farm 1870, for families, nearby. A real welcoming hobby farm with a focus on education and fun. A visit to Shakori Hills if there is no music shindig afoot.

What a great place to stay! Beautiful surroundings and great people. I really enjoyed spending time with Mark and Adrienne and the roommates around the fire. Mark made a beautiful and delicious breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you!

It was the first time I reserved a shared room on airbnb, I've stayed at many whole houses. I was pleasantly surprised with the ability to have my own quite space and the use of shared spaces. Everyone was very friendly and when I had a little extra time on my checkout day, Mark was very flexible with a later checkout. The place was very short drive to some great parks and lake.

Loved how it was located in the middle of a wooded area. Very nice home! Wish we would have had time to enjoy the outdoors more :( Thank you Mark!

I teach at a community college, and my fiance does research at UNC. We love our gardens, chickens and cats... and unfortunately, ice cream. We are mostly vegetarian. I am a Monty Python fan and play guitar, while my fiance can't get enough of The Office series. I have held onto e…
